Moves Afoot To Replace Sepp Blatter As FIFA President
Election of a new FIFA President ‘under consideration’ says Time Ambassador from Earth Council of Elders 4718 A.D.
A special representative from the distant future, sent as a goodwill mission from Earth many centuries from now, has reported that a new FIFA President to replace Sepp Blatter is ‘under consideration’.
In a broad overview of life in the 48th century, Ambassador Tharg spoke of hyperspace technology opening up new trade routes beyond Jupiter, the advent of teleportation, sun harvesting and the replacement of the education system by giant brain transplant technology.
“We are also due to have another meeting next year to discuss the issue of replacing Sepp Blatter as President of FIFA” he added. “But federation officials are urging us not to rush things.”
“Mr Blatter technically died in 2022, shortly after attending the world cup opening ceremony in Qatar where he suffered extreme heatstroke. After that his body was placed in cryogenic storage and is revived every four years, allowing FIFA to invoke a hitherto unknown rule that, as he isn’t permanently dead, he can retain his post.
“He’s currently undergoing some more deceased time for tax avoidance purposes but will be informed of the successful vote in his favour, due to be held next year, when he is revived in time for the Nepal world cup. It is expected that he will be able to head off this latest challenge to his presidency, just like the previous three hundred and forty one such attempts."
The Ambassador then went on to reveal that Brazil had just won their 500th world cup, narrowly beating competition favourites The Islamic Republic of America in an exciting final but England had been eliminated in the round of 64 by Tuvalu.
When asked to reveal what technology Mr Blatter used to stay alive for so long, and exactly where his body was stored, the Ambassador looked sheepish before saying: “by the order of the Earth Council of Elders, I cannot reveal information to you that may enable anybody to prevent Mr Blatter making it safely into cryogensis.” He then added darkly, “As unbelievable as it may sound, we are aware that there are some who may try to prevent such a thing happening.”
The Ambassador remained for a while to chat about football with journalists, and was asked whether the England team still existed as a footballing entity in the far future.
“Oh yes,” he replied. “England are still playing football. We find their 4-4-2 formation highly amusing, and we all know the song: Two thousand, seven hundred and fifty two years of hurt. It’s very popular with their fans.”
