Wimbledon Day 11 - Men's Semi Finals
First topic message reminder :
Well folks here it is. We are down to the nitty gritty. Is it a time for new hero's? Or will the old guard starve off the new breed?
Djokovic in his 5th Wimbledon semi final. Federer in his 8th.
Dimitrov and Raonic in their first Slam semi finals respectively.
If we go by the H2H we should expect another Federer and Djokovic final. However, it's a Slam and anything can happen.
I actually have the day off, so take that work! Can't wait for some stonking tennis action!

Not sure out of McEnroe, Castle and Lloyd who I want to fist pump in the face the most!
McEnroe's seriously been irritating me this year - he's so frikking whiny and annoying.
He annoyed me when he compiled a list of the greatest servers of all time and missed off Scud and way before my time Tanner.
Doesn't surprise me in the least - he emits wave after wave of supercillious BS and people accept it as "analysis".
Another on my list is Inverdale.

Those slips at grass clearly killed him bad in the end, poor Dimi.
Well played Nole, but you need to correct you mid game mental lapses.

Nole has done it in the end. Grigor is getting there but still a bit shaky on the critical points. Those DFs in the TBs were horrible.

Well played Novak. Battle through some tough mental moments to come through.
Hard lines to Dimitrov but I think he has the game to win slams in the next few years without a doubt especially here at Wimbledon.

Re: Wimbledon Day 11 - Men's Semi Finals
I am now convinced that Dimi/Greg/G-Man/Prime Time is the real deal. Such good tennis to watch. But for a couple of chokes (and I think they were chokes), he could be in the final.
Novak will not win the final. That's not me trying to do an anti-jinx, he just won't.
If it's Raonic, he will get annoyed about the serve and implode.
If it's Fed, he'll be destroyed by slice and and proper grass court play.

Novak looked quite solid except for a couple of lapses of his own. His serve was very strong too. He will definitely have a good chance in the final, regardless who he plays.

Raonic and Federer up next.
I am warming to the idea of an 8th Wimbledon for Roger. Seems only fitting.

Agree, he was quite good. Novak was playing mostly well, yet Dimi was able to quite comfortably hang in there with him. Novak did win but it did not look inevitable. One can easily imagine a couple of points here or there swinging it the other way.HM Murdoch wrote:I am now convinced that Dimi/Greg/G-Man/Prime Time is the real deal. Such good tennis to watch.

Re: Wimbledon Day 11 - Men's Semi Finals
As well as Nole played the big moments - he had his share of luck as well. Two set points were saved with the net cord getting the assist. And Dimi will/should be pretty disappointed with his approach on match point #2, he really should have done better... But congrats to Nole - as a Rafa fan, a Nole-Federer final is the greatest nightmare.... either the #1 goes, or its a four slam gap... Go NOLE!

Can't wait to see highlights sounds like G's turned into quite the player, probably due to the tender ministrations of MaSha.

Yes, and sadly for Dimi, those couple of points are points he rather gave away (although Novak did well too on the set points).summerblues wrote:Agree, he was quite good. I must admit, I preferred Dimi's play to Novak's today. I would have been perfectly happy for him to go through instead of Novak.

Re: Wimbledon Day 11 - Men's Semi Finals
Djokovic played nicely.
Dimitrov needs to work on footwork and converting Bps (3/11).
Good, close match. Well played to both.

Reading some live text, it sounds like he shanked a forehand when break point down in the third that fluked its way in.kingraf wrote:As well as Nole played the big moments - he had his share of luck as well. Raonic certainly brings the thunder, but King Fed has a supreme record against the huge servers.
Roger in 4 sets, maybe 3 tie break sets in this match.
