The sport started about half an hour ago.

I don't have a clue about Lawn Bowls, but England are 10-0 up....surely a good thing?

Twenty Gold medals are to be won today.

But it's the bastion of the middle class, dear fellow!

Badminton. And Squash. With a smidgen of Lawn Bowls thrown in for good measure.

I'm off to get a Cucumber sandwich and some sparkling English wine - long live the British Empire!

Siobhan-Marie O'Connor could well be a future superstar of swimming. Terrific talent, just beaten into silver by Emma McKeown on an event she's only just started swimming really. Great to finally have a Brit whose underwater skills match the very best too clap.

Australia unsurprisingly easily win the freestyle relay, though England pushed them hard for the first 200/250 meters or so. Australia actually smash the world record, while England beat the British record. That woman Siobhan-Marie leading off with a very credible 54.0 in the first leg, though she won't be competing in the individual I don't think...

I'm here Dave. Took me a while to find it.

Go well in the Lawn Bowls, mate.

I actually live next door to a state champ who has offered to introduce me to the sport.
I was thinking... isn't bowls an "old peoples sport"? but these days the national champ is about 21 y.o. and there is some local kid who started when he was 5 and is now about 13. He's a natural champion apparently.

I've always had a soft spot for the Comm Games ever since I got a lime green "Christchurch '74" t-shirt.

Think I still have it here somewhere but it is too tiny to wear anymore. Sad

a tactical masterclass from Jason Kenny in the QF of the men's sprint there. Up against the quicker on paper Glaezer he rode two great races: in the first he took advantage of Glaezer giving him a bit too much space to steal the jump, taking it from a long way out; in the second Glaezer led it out, but Kenny hung onto the back wheel all the way and used the extra length of the finishing straight to just nip past him at the end.

Superb racing and Kenny is through to the semis clap

that was really masterful racing. In the second race he gave himself just enough of a gap down the back straight to be able to slingshot around the outside of the final bend. Lewis tried to react in the decider by keeping Kenny closer, but the Englishman feinted, forced him down onto the curb and then just swooped around the outside.

England doesn't have an official national anthem, so we often use God Save the Queen or, on occasion, Jerusalem. There's also Land of hope and Glory but usage of that is very rare.

Better be careful though : when England dominate a sport it often seems to disappear from future CWG . England and Scotland clean swept Judo in 1990 and it has taken 24 years to come back !
