2014 Rogers Cup!
As I said in another thread the draw for this years Canada Masters is up and you can view it on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Rogers_Cup) or on their website (http://www.rogerscup.com/men/english/singlesDraw.php)
Promises to be a good tournament.

Could well have Murray v. Krygios in R2. Very tough match to call as Murray won't have played beforehand.

Top half generally looks far stronger than the bottom. Roger should stroll to the final.

It's not on clay though! If it was on clay though, it wouldn't be necessary to hold the tournament. He'd just have it given to him.

Haha...but Goffin isn't playing until Winston-Salem week before USO. His ranking was too low in advance of Rogers & Cincy. Besides I'm sure Goffin is knackered!

Re: 2014 Rogers Cup!
Kyrgios and Giraldo currently locked at 5-5 in the first set, winner beats Murray. Janowicz and, surprisingly, Isner are out but JWT is through.
It makes me laugh that the men play in Toronto, the women play in Montreal but it's still the same tournament!

Re: 2014 Rogers Cup!
But it would be like playing the women's matches at "Wimbledon" in Nottingham!! (or something, I dunno).
I see Kyrgios is through to the 3rd roung ( ). Jack Sock is one to keep an eye on at the moment. I know IC has been banging on about him for around a year now and I think the doubles win at Wimbledon might have ignited something in him. He has a forehand that can make Del Potro's look tame. He's obviously got forecourt skills too - he's a 2x major doubles winner now. Won the mixed USO with Oudin (wasn't she meant to be a good player?) a few years ago and now the Wimbledon men's with Popsicle.

Re: 2014 Rogers Cup!
Sock beats Melzer 1,3. Oudin had a dream run at USO, but seems to have fallen off.
Federer through 2,0.
Very sad to see Tomic after the promises.
Thiem after a good start in trouble in the third v Simon.

Re: 2014 Rogers Cup!
Bizarre result in the women's draw. Bouchard is beaten by Shelby Rogers 6-0 2-6 6-0.
"Genie Bouchard now down a *triple* break, 0-5 to Shelby Rogers. Tells her coach "I want to leave the court.""
I hope the Wimbledon final hasn't crushed her spirit but those who are great and those who will become great will pull themselves together.

Yesterday, Paire with his GF was in stands watching Federer v Polansky. Stan does not look the same as he did at AO, or even the post-AO confidence is dwindling. Can Norman fix that too?

I think having a poor clay court season will have hurt him. Aside from winning MC, he didn't do anything in the other events and having a poor run on your best surface is bound to hurt. Could he also be carrying a slight back niggle too?

Murray wins 2&2, played well but Kyrgios had an off day (though from what I've heard it was Murray's play which made him have an off day).

I was at the dentists so missed the Murray match. Going purely by the scoreline and swiftness of the match I presume Murray played pretty well. Well at least Murray has now defended his points from last year. Onwards and upwards I hope.

I now proclaim her Tammy Henman for her remarkable ability to pull defeat from the jaws of victory and then put it back again.
Meanwhile that clown Monfils is giving Djokovic more of a match than I expected.

Stan Wawrinka crashes out to Kevin Anderson in straight sets. Still he got a round further than last year so it is more points in the piggy bank.

Possibly, because Novak looks pre-occupied with other things. Looks like he isn't moving so well and also is net rushing a lot. No real rhythm or urgency to his game as he now trails 2-6 0-3.

Hmm not sure if this is good news or bad. Gasquet withdraws with a groin injury and Murray now awaits the winner of this Tsonga/Djokovic match.

Come Tsonga, crush him.
Djoko still in honey moon, and taking late lessons on pampers change and bottle feeding.
Stan a bit of a joke. Still on AO kool-aid.

Wow. I had a feeling that Jo would get a win over Novak today but 2&2 is pretty brutal!
Not too concerned though. Hopefully Novak will get his game in working order for USO because I expect the last couple of months of the season to be a bit of a write-off!

Novak did not seem too concerned to me. I think he came into this tournament pretty cold after a hectic time in his private life hence his performances. Tsonga brought decent consistency and that proved enough.

Re: 2014 Rogers Cup!
This has been the problem of late, nobody takes Toronto or for that sake Rogers Masters seriously, last few years all big name were absent [Federer, Nadal and Murray withdrawing in the mid tournament] barring Djokovic and he was fighting the battle alone to restore the Canadian cup pride, and we booed him who would forget the Novak vs crazy fan battle in Rogers masters, may be he decided he is not gonna show any interest either.
Goodness sake I booked a QF tickets for the night session tomorrow hoping to watch Fed in action, and I hope he makes it.

Re: 2014 Rogers Cup!
@iC... Federer makes it after several wasted MPs at 4-5 (18+ minute game). Cilic took the second set TB, but Federer stepped up a gear to get a break and wi 6-4 in third. He should find Ferrer easier than Cilic. (BTW, I am jealous of your QF night-date with Federer, but enjoy). He threw away the second TB. Federer's backhand soft push is back, and I did not see any BH DTLs worth their name.
If Djokovic was a surprise, Berdych loss was yet another shocker. Lopez played some really good volleys. He is another underachiever, IMO.
Murray's Bye and WO make me suspect Tsonga will continue his march.
