Re: US Open 2014 - Men's Draw
Thanks for this, a fitting start to the US Open thread.
I'll be pleased to see Berdych go out before the semi.
The other side is a nest of vipers; Djokovic, Murray, Stan, Tsonga, Raonic, even Isner.

Re: US Open 2014 - Men's Draw
Jahu - I've been reading 606 tennis for a while (since forum's asterisked wee keira) and somehow, as I've been stuck home for a couple weeks, I finally took time to write something (hence I might not post often).
Around 35, size 10 (whatever is used in UK... I'm not a subject of HMLiz ).
About tennis, I like shot making, sportsmanship, underdog stories or hot heads - I like the show of tennis I'd say (in my favourite: Nalbandian, Kuerten, Ivanisevic, Santoro, Berasategui, Safin... probably Tsonga for the current crop) and although I like Federer and Nadal producing incredible stats (making us feel how lucky we are to witness it) I'm looking forward a take over by a new generation...*
Oh and I'm in favour of keeping the court very different, and setting a grass masters (even if it won't ever happen and don't fit the calendar anyway)
(*as another poster suggested, I like the idea of Federer doing a Connors. After all, I read he said he wanted his daughters to see him succeed and understand, so it could be the same for the boys...)

Sorry bro, I have heard this exact statement from several new posters who sounded like pseudo of some past posters.
Anyways welcome to the board and we hope you bring us some great threads in the near future.
Can you edit your thread and post the draw in a bit more clearer fashion, I certainly don't understand who Djoko will face in QF.

Re: US Open 2014 - Men's Draw
Just checked the draw, finally Djoko got something of a decent draw, he has been enjoying paper draw for a quite a few years, lets see his progress this year.

Any idea to make it clearer? I actually tried to highlight parts by 4 to make it easy to read (although maybe it was sarcasm? )invisiblecoolers wrote:a bit more clearer fashion, I certainly don't understand who Djoko will face in QF.

Ireland's James McGee just qualified for the main draw, fair play to him! Hope he gets the coverage he deserves over here

What I wanted was who faces who in rounds? and possible match ups in upcoming rounds.
There are also ways to form tables in phpbb, so you could table out your work, there are threads like points table which actually does this, but not sure we really need it thou as many people do recognize your work and love it, however something you can add it in your work to make it even better.
You see quality is one side and marketing is the other side , anyways forum is more healthy with newbies like you showing interest to present us some valuable info.

Re: US Open 2014 - Men's Draw
IC what you mean.. But I actually just don;t have a clue how to make a nice clean table
About the possible match-ups, I simply couldn;t think why possible match-ups to highlight as I like to look outside of the usual suspects, and in the end it's all guesses...
That's actually why I didn't name the thread "US Open discussion thread" as I'd expect it in another thread, from a senior user who could follow up on the news better (it's been done well, I've always liked to see the updates on the stakes of the current rounds, etc...)
I'm planning to update the Qualifiers when they're up though - highlighting the Brits
By the way, was it Cogen who made a thread for some "pronostic / betting" contest (like, you pick 5 games at given odds etc. and the OP was compiling the scores of the posters...) That was fun! Is there anyone around to do this?

Re: US Open 2014 - Men's Draw
The picking game? That was CJB, sadly missed these days. I don't see why we couldn't do it if someone could figure out a formula.
Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Re: US Open 2014 - Men's Draw
@Biugo , for the tables, you can copy that thread, use the quote option of the author and convert that to HTML and you will see how it was actually done.
Yea Picking game was so fun, I entered and it died, yea somebody has to take effort to bring that back, it also stopped me from gambling, as I found out myself I was more interested in winning something and not just winning money.
