We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
such a shame Strootman got injured before the world cup. Think he'd be at the club otherwise. He should have been here last summer along with thiago but we ballsed it up and ended up with fellaini.

And what have Arsenal/Liverpool shown?
They've both been decidedly poor so far themselves.

Almost definitely because of all the stupid people who started putting a load of bets on it after the QPR game.

Arsenal drawing with City is more impressive than thrashing QPR at home tbh.
In any case, after last season, both would get the benefit of the doubt over United at this stage.

This is what will happen
1 Chelsea
2 city
3 arsenal
4 man united
Liverpool will win the CL
Everton will win UEFA Cup
End result... Man u still don't get in the CL as even with the new rule changes to the winners of the European cups getting passes in to the CL. No league can have 6 teams in the CL. Its 5 at Max....

I agree with Mysti's top four. Liverpool's defence is a total shambles, even more so than United's somehow, and they lack a world-class striker which bailed them out of such defensive troubles last season. Oh and they persist with playing Gerrard; his legs are absolutely gone.

I think the fight for 3rd and 4th is between Utd and Arsenal.
Been disappointed with Liverpool so far. Early days I know, but still.
Think the bookies have got it right.

I don't understand why United are all of a sudden top four team? They beat a very average QPR team and people are talking like they smashed Chelsea. Their defence is still awful, teams that attack them will get a lot of success.

No European campaign is a big plus for them.
There's no outstanding defence in this league. Utd's firepower will see them alright.

I have been saying they would finish fourth, ahead of Liverpool, since the start of the season, so not all of a sudden for me.

And Pirlo and Alonso have plenty of legs do they? It's not necessary in his position to be busting a gut over 100 metres, he's supposed to be sitting and distributing. He's not a defensive midfielder.

The difference being of course than Alonso and Pirlo, especially the latter, have far greater enduring talent and quality than Gerrard.
The recent Liverpool-Tottenham game is a testament to that: Gerrard was simply woeful in possession.

He doesn't have the range of passing those two do so it does become an issue but those slagging off United aren't taking into account how poor both Arsenal and Liverpool have looked.

Indeed, United havent done much to look incredible but Liverpool havent either. They'll win today, but it'll be interesting to see how comfortably.

While Liverpool and Arsenal should have been aiming for at least 10 but ultimately we've improved our squad far more than either of them. Lets think who you'd rather have in your team; Di Maria, Falcao, Rojo, Shaw, Blind and Herrera or Can, Balotelli, Lambert, Lovren, Lallana, Manquillo, Moreno and Markovic while losing Suarez?

Gotta take into account other factors like management
I don't rate Rodgers that high but I'd have him everyday over LVG

Yes so would I Olly, why anybody would want a world class manager with a proven track record I do not know instead give me a manager who places no emphasise on the defensive aspect of the game.

Would you? I wouldnt.
I think the point being made isnt that United have looked great (not one person has said that) but more that Liverpool mainly and Arsenal too havent been that impressive either.

QPR losing at home to Stoke.
When does the job security of Redknapp become an issue, particularly given the vast amounts they are spending?

I thought the worst when I saw QPR v Stoke on TV but it's actually not that bad. Stoke are on for a top 10 finish this season at least.

I thought Harry would have learned his but he's gone and brought in players who are just not the required standard.
Caulker and Rio were a good start, but with Isla and Traore beside them and Fer in front they really are weak. Not sure Krancjar is up to it any more, nor am I massive fan on Austin and Vargas as a front pair. Barton is too important to them for such a limited player.

Yeah that LVG with his numerous league trophies in several countries and CL win isn't a patch on Brendan who's won...the Championship Play offs.

Has someone put itching powder in the Manure's fans knickers today.
Lets get real, you beat a QPR team who have even been beaten by Burton Albion this season.
The proof will be when you start playing the big boys.

It's Aston Villa SoF at the end of the day and you were unable to beat a team that lost to Leyton Orient in the league cup because in your mind that has some relevance to any body other than Liverpool.

Something has to be done about holding onto defenders shirts. If it means giving 5 penalties a game, so be it. Vidic was the worst for it when he was at Utd.

Sigh.....................
Manure fans banging on about how tw@tting QPR is proof you will be romping the league this season and I pointed out they have been beaten by Burton Albion this season
Whereas HH's statement 'Liverpool lost an Aston Villa who have been beaten by Leyton Orient this season' did not have point or relavance in regard to any of my previous post but rather simple minded quip
