Re: Ospreys vs Treviso Pool 5 Round 1.
After losing four British lions this summer the ospreys season was written off, some decrying mis management and an insufficient squad would lead to them being the lowest placed region in the pro 12.
They go in to this game having already put a bonus point win on treviso in the first game of the season at the liberty stadium?
Ospreys alsogo in to his game being the only unbeaten team from any of the three domestic leagues in this competition.
Treviso are not in great form, that said, neither have been other pro 12 teams going into this weekend and so far we have seen teams like dragons and the blues and to a degree Munster using europe to turn their season around
This is unlikely to be as easy a match as many of the commentators and previewists online have made it sound...

Agree it wont be "as easy" as some are predicting...
BUT... If the Os are serious about progressing out of this group, they need to come away here with a BP win, as games against the Saints and Racing arent going to be pretty...

Third kick at goal from three and with only 12 minutes gone. Treviso are looking a much better team than six weeks ago but it's 9-0 to the ospreys and they look in control.

Arhip seems like a very good prop. Is he the one who covers 1,2 and 3?

Biggar has been taking all the quick ball at full pace and challenging e defensive line right in their faces... A few phases of play leads to a s impel converted try for hassler.

Mmm.. pass did look forward to AWJ, but Biggar was also taken out without the ball...
Try stands though...
Biggar looking good, so does Webb...

He struggled with his fitness at first but he is looking a good signing now.
We got quite lucky there with a try for treviso disallowed for a forward pass...? Looked fine to me.

Re: Ospreys vs Treviso Pool 5 Round 1.
Concerted pressure on the treviso line results in them losing a second row to the sin bin and Rhys Webb adding to his seasons try tally...
The difference in class between the two teams is starting to show now as the ospreys really need to focus on getting at least two more tries this afternoon.

If Webb isnt starting for Wales this Autumn, then I give up. The guy is on fire. Ask me how excited I am to watch Mike Phillips destroy any quick ball we get. . . I'm not.

Phillips looked very average in his second half cameo yesterday for Racing Metro. Shame Gareth Davies is out, but I saw a good performance from Lloyd Williams in the blues win.
Half time at the liberty now. 23-0 to the ospreys, two tries, one for Webb one for Hassler...

Second yellow conceded when in their own 22. Must admit the ref was pretty brave yellow carding Salesi Manu. The treviso tighthead is a mean looking customer....
TMO called upon to rule whether Dan Evans try is legit or not.. Ball is down...

It's all ok for the ospreys, third try score line is 30 - 0 after 48 minutes and the ospreys backs are looking to open the game out wide.
Commentators were discussing the hard defensive work by the o's props who have made a huge contribution in defence.

Shame that Arhip just went off. He was having a good game, felt he was on for MotM. Must have made 10 tackles and around the same amount of carries.

Dan Evans slides into the left hand corner, try number five. 63 minutes gone.
Ospreys have looked very nicer itch ball in hand since the start of the season.
Biggar missed the conversion 42 - 0
Tipuric comes on for the final quarter of an hour.

Re: Ospreys vs Treviso Pool 5 Round 1.
This is a great warm up fro the Os, but I fear its not really going to do much to the pool result at the end...
Treviso are looking very poor and I think both Saints and Racing will gain BP wins of them, which really negates the games...
I think a top 3rd spot goes through as well (isn't that the case ?)... So Treviso may just help each of the others through out of this pool...

Re: Ospreys vs Treviso Pool 5 Round 1.
Possibly true Coleman
But this treviso side are improving as the season continues... They have good players returning to the side.
And all honesty Saints and Racing Metro's match in Paris yesterday hardly set the competition alight.
Treviso, by the end of the pool stages could make life hard for one of Ospreys, Saints or Racing.

Re: Ospreys vs Treviso Pool 5 Round 1.
Mark Robson (today's commentator), surprised me a great deal when he mentioned that Treviso were having language problems due to the amount of nationalities ithe team.
Remember they started the season losing 18 players, 13 of who were internationals.
It is a different side they have this year and it will take time to gel, but they are gelling, by the end of the pool stages they could get it together.

A deserved consolation try for treviso and it's all over. 42-7 bp win for the ospreys, still unbeaten in both this seasons competitions

Don't see how Treviso deserved a try. They were a shambles in the second half and got lucky. Dan baker seems ok...

If the try wasn't an 'own goal' by Ospreys (something obviously not that far fetched an idea given recent events!) then I'd assume no matter how badly Treviso played, they probably did deserve the try they scored.

Re: Ospreys vs Treviso Pool 5 Round 1.
I thought that the ref made a wrong call on their line break in the first half. The ospreys were awarded a try by a blatant forward pass, when treviso were called back for one with a pass that looked flat if not legal.SecretFly wrote:Breadvan wrote:Don't see how Treviso deserved a try. Re: Ospreys vs Treviso Pool 5 Round 1.
Seems it was a night for iffy flat passes. Wasps were let run with what most observers regarded as three straight call forward passes.
It's a part of the game that can have such a genuine effect on a game given that they usually happen at speed when a side just need the slighest edge/advantage to get through for a try. Refs really need to try to get those calls more correct more often.
I don't want our guys winning a game on forward passes and I don't want our guys losing a game through them either

The IRB should never have caved to the flat pass.
Now some people try to bend the laws of physics and claim forward passes legal too, because of the angle of the hands after the ball has left the passers grasp.
Load of BS, I can throw a ball forwards and point where I want afterwards, but I can't fathom how even Usain Bolt can run fast enough that when he runs and passes 90 degrees plus to his direction that adds enough acceleration to push the balls trajectory considerably in the same direction the player was heading.
