The most unpopular number one
First topic message reminder :
Hello
Every time I've watched Djokovic play someone other than Nadal the crowd has supported his opponent.
Can anyone think of an occasion when this didn't happen (outside of Serbia)? What gives? Why is Djokovic so unpopular? I don't think people dislike him per se (contrast to Lendl), it seems rather that they don't care for him or his brand of tennis.
Personally I find him quite an affable guy. He does try a little too hard to crowd please but then who can blame him. It's not even like he's a dominant machine winning all and sundry. Apart from a few moths in 2011 he's always looked beatable.
So why does the Djoker bring such little joy to tennis fans?

Tehran taxi drivers are quite interesting, one of them drove me to a location drinking moonshine and crying about his miserable life while murderously weaving in and out of traffic. He offered me some at least but Persian moonshine is not my cup of tea. I like Macallan's or some nice XO after a fine meal. Preferrably Hennessey.

XO and Macallan, you can see those only on TV.
Don't be a haram person. Act your age and be decent.
I'm assuming Taxi drivers in Teheran are no better then those in Istanbul, best drive i ever had in my life

Driving in Tehran is like that bad mad max movie, Thunderdome, two men enter one man leaves. Iran has one tenth the cars of the US and almost the same rate of death by auto accidents. Draw your own conclusions.

Try a South African taxi. Your concept of life changes after that. Was driving home two weeks ago, and one skipped a red light from around 10 metres behind me, it got absolutely discombobulated by a truck.

KR, come here and check out the driving amigo. People back up on the free way when they miss an exit. They don't even understand what the white lines mean as they frequently snake around and refuse to drive in straight lines. And drunk driving? I don't think they have single breathalizer machine in the whole country, and drinking is the least of your problems.

Right KR, skipping a red light is bad enough, try riding over the pedestrian way, half-circle in the pedestrian crossing, ignore lights, have others join in your Taxi while your Taxi is waiting in the Red light, etc etc.
You have it quite modern there

You should be overjoyed, Silver. Johannesburg roads are like the wild west. If the taxis don't get, road rage does. Couple days ago some guy got cut off on the road, and the offended party. took out an axe and swung. Caught the guy right on the shoulder.

Re: The most unpopular number one
Christ, that one-way system in Brighton is massive BS. I was raging just walking around as a pedestrian last time I was down! At least I think it was Brighton...
I am overjoyed now kingraf...in a reserved sort of way, you know. One less axe to the face to worry about, at any rate - yikes. Now just need to keep an eye on my students.

Well the Spaniards have an unwritten rule whilst driving....
"It matters not how fast the car in front of you is going... YOU MUST overtake it"

Re: The most unpopular number one
I swear every new country I go to people say those drivers are the worst.
"The French are awful!"
"Pah we wish we had the French here. In Italy its bedlam!"
"ppfttt you aint seen nothing you Italian pansies, in Greece it's pandemonium!"
"nahhhh mate, kenya that's impossible, we don't even have roads!"
True story.

Re: The most unpopular number one
Qatar - chaos. There are no kerbs so everyone turns a 3 lane road into a 5 lane road by driving on the sand - until there are traffic lights/junctions then everyone piles into the three lanes again.
The only rule at roundabouts is get in any lane and give way to whoever has their nose in front or they'll run into you.

Re: The most unpopular number one
Kenyans are proper devils on the roads, though. Ethiopians too. South Africans are still the worst though. Having just looked it up, our road deaths per 100 000 is eclipsed only by Venezuela. A matter I'm sure we'll correct this December when the annual mobile cofin run takes place.

Re: The most unpopular number one
I think Hewitt was probably the most unpopular number one. He's far more popular now than 10 years ago and much admired for his willingness to carry on through sheer love of the game.
Outside South America, I'm not sure Rios had a big following. Probably a lovely bloke if you got to know him, but he looked like the baddy in one of those old western films.
