Answering the Critics
"It is not the critic who counts: not those who point out where our strong people stumbled or when the doer of deeds could have done better.
The credit belongs to those who are actually in the arena. Whose faces are marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strive valiantly, who err and come short again and again; Who know great enthusiasms; who at best know the triumph of high achievement; and who at worst if they fall, at least fall while daring greatly.
So that their place will never be with those cold and timid souls, who know neither victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt

Good one Teddy!
Tell that to the wine-drinking, Chateau-living generals behind enemy lines who commanded that millions of men stepped out of rat infested schit-holes to get a bullet for nothing but a medal, a memory of the 'glory' of the bullet, a bugle call and a flag at half mast.
What Ho, Lads! Brilliant bravery!! Good show!!!! We shall remember the sacrifice!
Critical assessment of men who didn't and don't care anymore - about anything. Teddy was wrong. The critics always count. The critics continue with their myths to this day

Was he talking about Wales v Australia at the time?
I think however, Wales arent falling while daring greatly as Gatland has by and large stuck to the same processes and tactics for a while now and hasnt been particularly daring for a while.
Surely if Wales fail to progress from their group his days will be numbered?

Guns, I don't want us to be knocked out at the group stage, yet if we do, it will only be his and the Dodgers fault, because of his infatuation with playing the top 3 every year and being unable to beat them we find ourselves in this group of death, as I said in another post Woodward and Henry had about 7-8 as the heads of their teams and had a WC failure followed by a success, has Gatland had his success?GunsGerms wrote:GavinDragon wrote:"It is not the critic who counts: not those who point out where our strong people stumbled or when the doer of deeds could have done better.

"Sacrifice. To some, it is just a word. To others it is a code. A soldier knows that the life of an individual ant doesn't matter. What matters is the Colony. He's willing to live for the Colony. To fight for the Colony. To die for the Colony. At 0800 hours we received word that the Termite enemy has mobilized. We have no choice but to launch a preemptive strike. You are the Queen's finest. I know you will all do your duty. I am proud to send you into battle. Dismissed."

If you think we're playing in the same manner as we did last year then you either haven't watched Wales play during this series, or watched them play with your eyes closed.

Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves !!!

The op was actually on the note that Mandela gave to Piennar rather than invictus as shown in the film. Not sure why they changed that, it's a pretty good quote!
