Basel 0-1 Bremen
---------------Kiessling
Two managers who have massively improved their sides, close fought game but Bremen take the win here. I feel at times Blind dropping deep allowed Bremen to control the midfield and they got their goal from the wing as Basel wingers didn't offer enough protection. When Basel got the ball forward, Adebayor was shackled by Martinez which limited their attack. On the other side, the Bremen attack had more luck against Basel defence which needs improvement.

Genk 2-3 Bordeaux
Tadic-----Sakho x2
Ibrahimovic--------------Bojan
Both teams played a high line but the Bordeaux side dealt with it better as their CB were able to deal with Ibrahimovic for most of the game. Sakho had the pace and power to beat the Genk defence and the sub by Nando won him the game. Alonso isn't the most mobile and I don't think he had the ability to keep Tadic quiet. Ibrahimovic equalised from a deep cross which Kameni fumbled. I like the midfield off Genk which powered the Bordeaux side but playing a very attacking style cost them.

Fabregas and Sterling was a great battle, the youthful Sterling using his pace and aggressive nature neutralised Fab but as the game wore on Fabregas smarts were too much and got the assist. Etoo had a lot of work to do meaning his attacking game wasn't what it can be but this allowed the midfield to get forward putting pressure on the defense (lack of bite in Twente midfield) Marky put the work in and this transfered on to the pitch giving him a hard earned win.

Most of the attacking play from both sides came from the wide positions, PAOK hitting on the break, the three upfront interchanging made it difficult for Palmero to pick them up. Gradually the quality of Palmero side showed as they boxed PAOK in and equalised. Both teams had a solid powerful midfield that would take it in turns to control the midfield.

------------Kiessling-------------
Defensive Tactics:
Defensively today we need to be on our toes at all time as i am expecting Basel to attack us with pace and looking to press us high up the pitch.
That being said i don't want us to get pinned back and put under a lot of pressure so i want us to look to press them when they are in possession in our half.
Martinez i am expecting Adebayor to start today so i want you to sit on him and make it difficult for him to make runs and make himself available and look to win the aerial battles.
I want Cole and Selassie to watch the wide areas for the runs out wide because this is one of the areas i feel they will attack us in, in defensive situations I want Montero and Kishna to get back and cover Cole and Selassie respectively.
Attacking Tactics:
As i said earlier i am expecting Basel to attack us with pace and out wide so when this happens and we recover the ball, the counter attack is going to be to our advantage. Montero and Kishna i want you both to look to get at them with pace in this situation and attack the space that is left by their wide players.
When in possession i want us to use the ball cleverley and move it around with pace and don't be afraid to use the wide areas which i feel is where we can exploit the opposition due to them pressing us high up the pitch.
Kiessling i want you to attack the ball in the air and make space for yourself by making runs into the box too.
Finally - Gundogan you will be the deep lying play-maker sitting just behind Maher and Vilhena and i want you to use them to help you to control the game as i feel Basel won't be able to pressure us for the whole game. Vilhena and Maher will be pushing on for attacks so you will need to shield the defensive line.
Subs:
Di Santo on for Kiessling - 90th Minute.
Buffel on for Montero - 85th Minute.
Makiadi on for Vilhena - 90th Minute.

General:
We will look to control the pace of the game through maintaining possession in our midfield and centre backs. We will look to press high up the pitch and put pressure on the opposition to cause mistakes and to capitalise. Look to use the pace and creativity of Dos Santos and Meyer to put Adebayor into space. Big impetus on the counter attack with the pace in our midfield.
Attacking:
Blind to sit in front of the centre backs to provide cover and allow the full backs to push on.
Guarin to play a support role in attack and arrive late into the box. Using
Dos Santos to both play off Adebayor, looking to thread balls into Adebayor or or slip Quaresma or Meyer in behind the fullbacks.
Full backs to provide width and energy to the attack, with Blind capable of forming a back three with the centre backs if needed.
Defensive:
High press up the pitch, with pressure leading from the forward three. Look to close down Vilhena, Gundogan and Maher early, cutting off the supply of ball to the front and wide men.
Mexes to lead defence and man mark the Kiessling. Yanga-Mbiwa to sweep up anything that comes from the striker or support.
Full backs to track back and force any attackers wide, and prevent the cross.
Blind to sit in front of defence and break up any attacking play, or hound any attacking mid trying to float into space.

TACTICS
We have to continue our winning run, we have done well the last few games and we are looking at getting a top four position in the league. We should go for it from the off, with our attacks concentrated down the left wing with their first choice RB out. Look to attack fast, and also play a higher line as we have plenty of pace in our defense to get back and cover. This will suffocate their midfielders.
PLAYER ROLES
Koteles - Be vocal in the box, stop shots.
Aurier/Digne - Look to get forward at every opportunity. There is the chance they will play without wingers and if that is the case, then get forward as you can basically play at LM and RM. If there are wingers show them out wide, use pace to match them.
Dier/Lascelles - Use your pace to match Sakho, don't let him get away with one of you sticking tight to him and the other covering in behind.
De Rossi/Mavuba/Herrera - You all can rotate in the midfield, there are no set positions, but as long as one of you is back shielding the back four in the space where the AM would like to play. Make sure one of you gets high as Alonso is their main passer and instigates the attacks, so immediately get pressure on him with two midfielders behind. Two can push up when we have the ball, one stay back.
Tadic/Chadli - Both of you have license to get infield, you are not strictly wingers, you have license to get narrow and be more creative. Try to get the full backs to get narrow to mark you as this will create more space for Aurier/Digne to get into.
Ibrahimovic - Lead the line, get between their centre backs and try to draw them out of position for others to exploit. Trust in your ability to shoot from range and use your height advantage over Laporte and Manolas to win headers.

Team Talk
Up against Trebs who has a strong core to his side but a weak defense so shall look to go on the attack and exploit the wings with their full backs getting forward leaving space. Shall look to utilize the skills of our 2 in-form forwards whilst keeping Tadic & Ibra quiet.
Defensive Tactics
- I want to the back 4 to push up the pitch towards the half way line to negate Ibra and squeeze them all over the pitch.
- Laporte to get on Ibra and look to get into him quickly when on the ball, Manolas to cover around if he rolls in behind up the pitch
- Manolas to watch for Tadic getting into space and look to stop him supplying Ibra.
- I want the full backs to force the wingers inside and don't let them get a cross into the box, I want them to stick to defending today with their full backs getting up the pitch, If they do i want the keeper to come for it.
- Alonso to sit infront of the defense and keep Tadic quiet with Lucas getting about the playmaker from deep to force them into mistakes. Look to help the full backs when pushed inside
- Ayoze to drop in and chase around the DMs when on the ball
Attacking Tactics
- Alonso to tick play over from deep and look to get the ball wide quickly.
- Lucas to get forward and try pull De Rossi & Herrera away from Ayoze in behind them, Lucas to stick on the edge of the box to negate the counter & be a goal threat.
- Narsingh to take on Digne and look to create half a yard with your pace and whip the ball in, Look to make runs in behind when Alonso has the ball.
- Firmino to use the space that Aurier will leave in behind to create chances for Sakho & Ayoze, If a DM comes over then look to use your dribbling and whip the ball in, If he doesn't cut inside and get into the gap between DM's & CB's and look to get shots away at goal.
- Ayoze to use his dribbling in the gaps and look to take on the back up CB's and get himself into the box into shooting positions and look to make runs across the front of the defender.
- Sakho to bully the back up CB and look to turn and roll in behind and use your aerial ability to dominate in the area.
Subs: Bojan for Ayoze after 75 mins - Firmino to AM

---------------Speroni

------------Clasie - Keita
Townsend - Sterling - Sigurdsson
----------------Eto'o
Subs: Geoffrey Jourdren, Jon Flanagan, Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, Sebastian Kehl, Lewis Holtby, Zakaria Bakkali, Divock Origi
Tough game today against Twente, the outcome of the game will hinge on the impact of Cesc Fabregas making his Twente debut. For this reason we are deploying Raheem Sterling in the AM position, in possession he can roam left and right and cause problems for the Twente defence, but without the ball he will constantly chase and harass Fabregas. Do to him what you did to Pirlo at the World Cup, constantly pressure him whenever he's on the ball. If he advances forward Keita will take over. We also have Fonte making his debut, hopefully he can replicate his Southampton form here.
Defence: Speroni to stay big for one on ones and distribute to Clasie. San Jose to track Paco, beat him to any passes towards him and force him to drop deeper to frustrate him, Fonte to be the first to any second balls. If they play a second striker, Fonte to mark him and Keita to track any AM. In possession supply Clasie. Yedlin and Willems to overlap the wingers going forward and get crosses into Eto'o. Make sure you get back into position ASAP to avoid being caught out. Defensively force their wingers wide and block the crosses. Don't let them cut inside.
Midfield: Clasie/Keita sit infront of the back four, get the ball and look to supply the front four. Sigurdsson and Townsend will play wide so they are able to switch from playing alongside Sterling when we're attacking but drop and form a midfield four with Keita and Clasie when defending. Utilise Yedlin and Willems overlapping and use them to play them down the wing or use the space to cut inside. Sterling to play as our AM, drift left and right and deeper to drag their DM out of position and look to supply Eto'o with plenty of opportunities. Townsend and Sigurdsson playing as inverted wingers, both pick up the ball wide and cut inside to leave space for the overlapping fullback, shoot or create when in advanced positions.
Attack: Eto'o to mark the deepest Twente defender, use your pace and positioning to worry their defenders, drift wide to drag defenders with you, to allow Sigurdsson/Townsend/Sterling to make runs down the middle into space for Clasie to pick them out. You more than capable of scoring and assisting, so get shots in where you can and look for your teammate in a better position. Switch positions on occasion to keep the Twente players guessing and drag them out of position.
Subs 70 mins:
If winning: Sigurdsson and Eto'o off, Kehl and Origi on. Switch to 4-5-1 with Kehl playing at CM alongside Clasie and Keita, and forming a midfield three, Townsend/Sterling to wide midfield. Absorb pressure then look for Origi on the counter.
-------------------Speroni
---Yedlin - San Jose - Fonte - Willems
Townsend - Clasie - Kehl - Keita - Sterling
--------------------Origi
If drawing: Eto'o off, Origi on. Like for like, new striker with fresh legs, utilise your pace and power as we push for the winner.
If losing: Willems and Keita off, Holtby and Origi on. Change to 3-1-4-2; Push for goals.

Team talk
Up against title challengers Montpellier this week and they’re a strong unit, as such we’ve gone with a 4-1-3-2 formation, conservative in defence yet cavalier in attack, a deep line for the back four to combat the speed abuse of their attacking options with Rabiot anchoring in front to add extra protection. By playing a deep line and with Pirlo out for them it gives a lot more space to the midfield and allows quality to shine through, step forward Cesc F**kin Fabregas onto the centre stage.
Defence
A back four with Subotic given the role of picking up the main striker as they enter threatening positions, be aware of their movement but ensure you don't get dragged out of position. Chambers to assist where required but to pick up threats from their wingers/AM etc if they break into the danger zone. Fullbacks to shepherd their wingers on the outside, no rash challenges and going to ground, slow their attacks down and block crosses. Rabiot to sit in front of the defence and protect the back line, look to plug holes immediately.
Attack
An attacking quintet with Fabregas pulling the strings, yes we expect him to be heavily marked so use that to our advantage with drawing opposition onto him allowing space for others.
Suarez given the playmaker role, intelligent neat passes, looking for movement in front of you of the two youngsters. Calhanoglu to link up play as the highest positioned midfielder, stretch their defence out to you and if heavily marked as expected then look to invite tackles from which you can unleash hell from your free kicks.
Alcacer in the target centre forward role with Diao given remit to play slightly wider and cause disruption to their defence. Speed, intelligent movement and closing down is key today, get in for every loose ball, be ready to pounce for rebounds and chase their defenders, force them to play the ball early.

Coloccini - Musacchio - Kongolo
Coleman ----------------------------- Perisic
Schneiderlin – Pardo - Cattermole
Emenike - Hernandez
Defence
Musacchio to pick up the further forward and then the other two to mark zonally on the other.
Dependent on the side they're attacking down, the back three will shift over and assist the wing back on that side.
Wing backs will get back and look to delay wingers as well as blocking crosses where they can.
Where the wing backs are committed forwards, the central midfielders will drop in and cover that side, and we’ve deliberately picked energetic and aggressive players for this role.
[size=16]
Attacks through the centre will be tricky with Matic probably shielding so we want to go to the wings.
Wing backs will be the main thrust down the wings and seek to get the ball over to our big boys in the middle.
Pardo will sit in the hole, conduct our attacks and look to retain possession as well as switch play to either flank.
Both forwards will have a high work rate and lots of movement in the box in anticipation of crosses being whipped in.
When the play is our wide, one of our CMs will break forward and support the attack from deeper while breaking to the edge of the box for crosses

General:
Up against a strong Palermo side today, so we are looking to keep it tight centrally, defend deep to narrow the space in behind, and to invite them on to us, We will then hit them on the break through the pace of our forwards. We also want to test the keeper early as we view him as a weakness and think we can shake him up a bit
Defensive Tactics:
Deep line with limited space in behind. Inviting the opposition forward to create space for the counter attack.
Barzagli to pick up the main striker and try to match him physically. Stones to pick up any second striker.
Gerrard and Matic to sit deep and shield the back 3. Grenier to support by playing a more box to box role.
Van Rhijn and Kolasinac to get up and down the flanks
Attacking Tactics:
Quick, direct counter attacking today. As soon as we dispossess the opposition, we go forward with pace.
Get the defence turned and back tracking towards their own goal.
Gerrard to sit deeper and link the defence an attack through his passing game.
Bellarabi, Mirallas and Talisca to be a bit freer positionally, interchanging. Use your pace to enable the quick counter attack.
Van Rhijn and Kolasinac to get forward and provide the width.
Hit a couple of hanging balls into the area early and challenge the keeper. We want to test him early and try to shake his confidence.

Re: Week Ten Results
Just realised I put Mirallas in when I meant Callejon.
We didn't sell Callejon and buy Mirallas until the weekend after squad cut off
We concede a default defeat as a consequence
