Welcome to Season 7 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1992.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

The window will open from the 9th of June but only to those sides that finish 8th and below at first. They will have a week to make one signing each before the window is open to all.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 15:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Great signing. Quins row for me is the undoubted area of weakness.

No grunt their. Horwill hardly in the Hines/Bakkies/Thorn mould but he makes a huge improvement to their pack.

Horwill in horrible form for ages. At his best a good 4.5.

Offers leadership but to be fair can't be costing much as very low down aussie pecking order

Horwill at 20% is 10 times better than Robson, he'll be a huge player for Quins, just what they need.

Now there's a player bang out of form if there ever was one. Big talk from the NZ lads that he's just not up to it anymore. He's pushing his body to perform at levels that it just can't do anymore.

Be a shame to see him go out with a whimper, best 10 ever without question.

Wilkinson was great but just not at the same level for me. Carter had everything at his peak, he was amazing.

I don't think he'll ever hit those heights again though, it's been a long time since he put in a good performance at 10. Luckily NZ have a few other options.....

Similar things were said about Wilkinson though when he was injured and then he came back and had some of his best performances at the end of his career. You can't say a world class player is a gamble when they have come back from injury, would certainly have taken him at Wasps!

I'd argue that in the loose Wilkinson never reached his 2000- 03 peak. However he adapted his game brilliantly as abd great does like giggs, scholes, Gerrard in the round ball.

Could argue Carter played better players. The 05 all blacks remain the best rugby team I've seen play the game

Carter was great for canterbury this year. Only had one major injury and proven world class.

You don't get a 3 year contract and paid more than any player in the world if you are shot.  You can't get insurance to sign the player.

My brother in law is pro and plays in the championship. The medical he has to go through to satisfy insurance is really thorough and he is on peanuts.

Personally think horwill is a disasterous signing. He is so out of form its unreal and he is showing he does not believe he is good enough to get in aussie side. Complete lack of ambition . To me it shows he is coming for the pay check.

Imagine he comes fairly cheap.

Had one or 2 good seasons and nothing else.

Imagine he will play 4.

Lad who works for me and is a Quins fan says robson been one of the better Quins this year. Would you agree with that CJ?

Robson not a world beater but a brilliant AP player and has been for years.

Would improve most clubs outside top 4

Robson has been pretty awful for at least a season now, he's really suffered with Kohn's departure imo.

Carter played at 12 as he couldn't get past Slade at 10 for Crusaders. His few games at 10 have been terrible. He's pushing his body too much and can't perform at these levels anymore, it's obvious he'll need to adjust his game to deal with his added injury worries.

I would put money on him not seeing out the 3 year deal and getting a major injury (another) in his first season. Carter is modern great but is on the way out.......

For £1m a year I think he might well see it out - not sure Metro are the best club as for whatever reason they just don't click as a team.

Still really rate Carter, get him a run of games injury free and he'll show his class as a very intelligent player - if his game was built around speed or physicality then I'd agree that he could struggle, but got to be one of the most intelligent players going so can see him doing a good job over there.

Loads of players will follow - AAC has signed for Bordeaux and as soon as the WC is over there will be a massive exodus.

Pooly loves a so and so player is finished lol.

He has a hit rate of about 1 in a million.

That fact alone means carter will see out his contract.

By canterbury SJE I meant crusaders

They were always called canterbury Crusaders in days gone by.

You can't get insurance unless you are in mint condition
.
You price insurance on risk. For him and the club to get insurance on it implies there is a low level of risk. It will also be subject to a medical before starting his contract counterpart with racing.

They sometimes do cover with exceptions such a  left knee etc
Where everything is covered except for the left knee.

Carter never really had a major injury save for the Achilles that one time so should be fine.

Wilko had a history of major injuries but seemed to avoid them when he went to Toulon

And predicting things like Lawes and Launcbury will never play for England together and that Ford and Tuilagi weren't going to be good enough for England and I'm sure there was something similar about the Vunipolas Cool

Though credit where credit is due think you got the Nathan Hughes ones right! Reckon he'll be playing for England the day he qualifies.

Matera, Tuipolotu, Lopez, Murray and Dunbar have all kicked on for me. With the likes of Webber and tait resurging when I once owned them.

Releasing Cipriani being a slight blotch on my records.

We all have early opinions, some right some wrong.

If you look back I don't think I ever said they wouldn't play for England.

With Ford I said he was too small at the time, I think he put on 10kg that summer?? Launchbury, Ive always liked but was surprised he got picked up so soon. Billy V was massively overweight and unfit, I said he'd never kick on unless he lost weight and got fit.....fair enough?

As I've said before, we've called some clangers.

Matt's Saull best 7 in England, Charlie Walker England winger, Robson top AP player etc etc.

Chris, I just will never forget your love for Danny Paul and him being England's nect no8 lol.

People shouldn't be so touchy, it's only opinions about rugby, we all have them.

Though credit where credit is due think you got the Nathan Hughes ones right! Reckon he'll be playing for England the day he qualifies.
I like Hughes. He is raw as hell but exciting. His close carrying is superb. Just needs to learn how to play 8. Johnson Does a lot of the 8s coverage job and Hughes plays like a blindside who picks up from 8. Could be a cracking ball carrying 6

Pooly. only joking with you there.

I think I did better with my call on Danny Paul than I did with Willie Mason, what a waste of £20m that was!!!

Burger was pretty much finished to be fair, not many expected him come back. It'll be interesting to see if he can put a run together as he's been a bit stop/start since his lay off.

Problem with Juan Smith is he's playing at about 30% of what he used to. He was probably the best BS about when he got injured, but can't get in the SA squad now ahead of some pretty average players.

Walker will play for England. He's still only 21, guys, and he's been unlucky with a few injuries.
