under-rated rounds
I watched tyson bruno 1, recently. I remembered bruno taking a pummeling then rocking tyson... with the infamous 'get in there frank' punch. I had forgotten however what an entertaining first round it actually was.
OK there was a lot of hitting and holding from bruno... quite a lot! But it had a knockdown in 10 seconds, lots of wild swinging, plenty of cheating, plenty of action and a bit of drama.
Considering how petrified he was in the return fight, bruno looked up for it and at least had a go, even if little of it was within the rules. A real streetfight 3 minutes.
Anyone else got any hidden gems, or guilty secrets among the usual suspects of great rounds?

Re: under-rated rounds
I got mocked (makes a change hey) For including Bruno-Tyson on my best Heavyweight rounds list............Milkster...
But I stand by it................Had everything..............Knockdown, Point off and a near fight turning left hook..........
If only Frank realised that when the other fighter is hurt...It's him that is supposed to hold on !!
Mancini-Frias Rd 1................Brilliant two minutes............
Garza - Meza Rd 1 ...........Meza down twice.........gets up and knocks Garza out to win the WBC 122 pound title.........
Gatti - Ward 1 - Round 9 ?????
Holy - Parkey rd1 - The usual stinking Parkey thought F**k it I'll have a go instead of stinking....Lost his mind.....Worth a pop..
Dempsey - Firpo - rd 1...........Is a giggle.

Re: under-rated rounds
A great first round which nobody talks about was the opener to Hurtado-Tszyu. Don't get many better openings to a fight than that!
And while we're on first rounds, what about the first round of Arguello-Pryor....Except it's the oft-forgotten rematch I'm talking about, which nobody seems to remember, rather than the first fight. Cracking opening round again.
One that the captain gave us a heads up on a while back springs to mind as well, as it's quite obscure; the fourth round of Caveman Lee against Johnny LoCicero. Also, the first round of Spencer Fearon against David Walker. And the second. And the third, come to think of it....

One of very few rounds of the second fight that was close.. Pryor-Arguello...............But good call Chris....(Some idiot as I recall had Pryor one point up....and they moan about today's judges)
Kind of admired the way Arguello after giving everything sat on his backside thinking......I've given everything just let it go.....
No one minded either................Great warrior..

It wasn't the greatest of fights and the rest of the round is a bit of a let down.

De la Hoya-Mosley 1 RD 12 was better. Good little round that.

Re: under-rated rounds
Round 8 of Mosley decimating Margarito was good fun, he was so wild with the right hand but still couldn't miss, leaping in, literally running round the ring chasing him.

Round 2 of Paul Samuels vs Wayne Alexander was an absolute belter, as was the fight, as short as it was.

The 6th round. Because it's not too early and it's not too late.

The sixth round of Rhodes against Moore was pretty good as well if my memory is remembering it right.

Re: under-rated rounds
I enjoyed the first round of Sanders-klitsckho (Vitali). Sanders threw a sweet left hand (the best straight left in heavyweight history? Not particularly long list of contenders) which moved Vitali all the way to the other side of the ring, quite literally and for a fleeting moment the double seemed possible. We all know what happened after, and that round was as good as it got, but I reckon that was as good as heavyweight boxing got in the last ten years.

For raw power I don't recall many bigger straight lefts than Bruno's.
Can't remember the rounds but Derry v Crolla had some quality all action sessions.
Morales v Barrera is too obvious but some of those rounds I think maybe from memory the 5th from their first fight is unreal considering the skill levels on display in an absolute bust up.

I remember watching the first Bruno Tyson fight,I can't believe it was 1989. Why didn't Bruno fight like that in their second meeting? Tyson was much more beatable then.Good first round for Bruno despite the holding round the back of the neck.

The last round of Mayweather-Gatti, a display of pure boxing masterclass.

Why do comments like this make me feel queasy ??
Alex Arthur vs Michael Gomez had terrific rounds start to finish.
Lewis v Holy 2 I think round 9 was a good round of boxing which doesn't get mentioned.
Cheers, Rodders

It is a bit out of place.................Just like some poster writing that.... Louis pushes Foreman back, takes center of the ring and knocks him out early..
Don't know who wrote that gem..
