Some really exciting players coming through this year. Will be good to see if Nick Tompkins has progressed from last year. Stuart Townsend is one of the best age grade scrummies I have seen since Ben Youngs burst onto the scene. I've heard good things about Lewis Boyce and Paul Hill.

Re: England U20 Squad 2015
James Chisholm is also one to watch - has looked at home at AP level in the handful of games he has played - physically very powerful, especially considering how young he is, and pretty quick too.
That's a squad with the potential to make it three in a row. If England can manage the transition into the senior squad and keep them fit, 2019 is looking bright.

Beckett is a cracking flanker. He was the unsung hero of the LV win over Sale. The expectation on the Tigers offy is that he'll be a Tigers captain.

A BS presumably?
I haven't followed this group through from u18 level as I have done with previous groups, so I don't know quite a few of them. I know the front row are highly rated, and Tompkins, and plenty of these players will never have lost when playing for England at age group level (none of the sides below u20 lost last season). Given the quality of the academies and the age group coaching it would be a surprise if this wasn't a very good squad.

The thing that concerns me is that with all this amount of talent coming through...is Lancaster the one to make best use of it in the seniors?

Re: England U20 Squad 2015
Looking back at all england coaches from Geoff Cooke on, Bomber is the one most likely to give a young player a chance.
Whether they are the right ones - well that is a different matter. Every U20 squad will include more players who do not make the grade at full international that do. The skill is always spotting those that are good enough (while not excluding those missed by the age grade system)

Re: England U20 Squad 2015
It’s true, Lancaster has a very clear idea of the players he wants and he could be accused of having favourites. However, he has shown that he is unafraid to give young players a go.
Think of the players who have been given an opportunity by Lancaster (and the age they were first capped).
Joe Marler (22)
Joe Launchbury (21)
Jack Nowell (20)
Anthony Watson (20)
Owen Farrell (20)
George Ford (20)
Jon Joseph (21)
Jonny May (22)
Billy Vunipola (21)
George Kruis (23)
Mako Vunipola (22)
Kieran Brookes (24)
Henry Thomas (21)
Matt Kveic (20)
Marland Yarde (20)
Christian Wade (21)
Freddi Burns (22)
And in the Saxons
Luke Cowan-Dickie (21)
Alex Waller (24)
Maro Itoje (20)
Dave Ewers (24)
Ollie Devoto (21)
Elliott Daly (20)
Henry Slade (21)
Ross Harrison (22)
Rob Buchanan (21)
Scott Wilson (20)
I think Lancaster has demonstrated that if you’re good enough he will give you a chance, no matter what your age.

Bold statement after losing most of that team. I don't doubt that you'll be there-abouts though, as always.

I agree its a bold statement but he did say "potential" not that we WOULD win it. And I agree it is a talented squad that will be there or there abouts,.

Yes Yappy Harry Mallinder is also at Saints in the academy & represented England at all younger age grades.

Plays 10 and 12 I believe. I read a suggestion he was a better 12, but that was just one person's opinion.

I love watching English age group sides because the basics are generally so good these days. The try after 51 minutes sees some wonderful lines from the backs, and even the try after 58 mins shows excellent awareness and decision-making from a several players. Nothing flash, but just the sort of things you'd expect from a good SH side.
If Perkins can keep that form up at u20 level he looks an exciting prospect indeed. Sarries are producing a few exciting outside backs at the moment.
