Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round Four
Quick Anglo Welsh Wrap Up
- Gloucester have already confirmed top spot in pool one.
- London Irish need 1 point to confirm qualification. Failure to do so and a bonus point win for Sale sees them through.
- Wasps/Falcons level on 11 points but Wasps with the higher PD/TF at the moment.
- Victory for Quins sees them through (on 12 pts at the moment)but if they slip up Chiefs can go through with a win (9pts).

Tactics
Strong carries upfront and good support play in order get quick ball and keep the continuity of our attack.
Spread the ball wide when we have quick ball and have tied in defenders. Cooper and Olding to interchange and stand flat to keep oppoisition on back foot.
Look to control the set piece. Use any advantage to milk penalties and territory.
Out to in defence lead by Serfontein. Pressure on Gloucester decision makers, especially Burns. Look to compete at every breakdown with Wood and Braid leading this.
Take all points on offer. Win needed to secure Semi final spot.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round Four
With a semi final place up for grabs Wasps recall a number of internationals to starting XV having been rested last weekend. In the pack Bismarck du Plessis, David Wilson and Steffon Armitage return along with Jerome Kaino who takes his place in team having been out for 4 weeks with a calf injury. In the backs Aaron Smith, Ma'a Nonu, and Bryan Habana return to the side, with Noa Nakaitaci given a debut on the right wing.
Wasps
Manager: Ozzy3213
16. Harry Thacker 17. Ben Moon 18. Fraser Balmain 19. Ruan Botha 20. Hayden Thompson-Stringer 21. Mitchell Drummond 22. Aaron Cruden 23. Marland Yarde
Tactics
Standard faced paced, high intensity offloading game that we always play in good conditions.
Blitz defence with 9 sweeping.
If we kick we will kick to touch and contest the lineout in their territory.
We know a win gives us a semi final, Saints have nothing to play for. One team will want this more than the other.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round Four
Bath 34-18 Ospreys
SOB is in the Ireland squad as far as I'm aware. Still too much for Bath with little quality in the O's side.
Dragons 17-25 Welsh
Nt the easiest game for Welsh but again too much quality and they'll come home with a decent win.
Spedding in the French squad for me.
Cardiff 19-28 Tigers
Tigers look pretty strong, could be long day for Cardiff who look decent but can't compete.
Northampton 19-25 Wasps
Front row goes to Wasps at a canter and could be a tough game in the scrum for Saints. A little more in the backrow for Wasps but engine rooms close. Wasps much better at 9 but 10's pretty tight on recent form. Wasps centres a bit more balanced but Saints full of flair, Daly could be the weak link for Chris. Wasps just the shade the back 3 and bench and have a stronger outfit on show overall for a routine win.
Irish 21-23 Falcons
Falcons edge the scrum and line out but Irish not too far behind. Irish have a bit more quality on show in the backrow and will get on top here until Falcons bring on bench. Falcons better at halfback but centres and back 3's pretty tight. Just enough for a sneaky away win for Bam
Sale 34-16 Scarlets
Sale's pack sets the tone in this one and gives the backs a platform to cruise home, routine win.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round Four
Glos 25-24 Quins
Huge game here with both teams looking very strong feel Quins edge front 5 but Glos just take backrow. Halfbacks to Glos with centres pretty even. This is anyones game and I think, with the bench on show, Glos can just edge this huge battle.
Dragons 18-30 Welsh
Dragons are coming into good form at the moment but feel they will struggle against the Welsh back row on show here. Looking at the centres there’s a slight edge to Welsh but the back 3 will cause Dragons problems. A good bench will see Welsh over the line.
Sarries 24-26 Chiefs
As Pooly noted, Sarries lose a bit for Spedding being in France squad. Think Sarries take the front row but Chiefs may get a bit more carrying with Lee at 8. Half backs one a piece and not a lot in the outside backs. Think the Chiefs bench sees a win for them.
Blues 15-34 Tigers
Tigers are focused on winning this game and have fielded a very strong squad today. I think Blues will struggle to get anything up front and out wide Tigers are too dominant for the Blues to get a handle on this game, they did show against Wasps they can score good tries but think it won’t be enough today.
Saints 34-36 Wasps
A great pack battle and I see this as pretty even. Out wide I’d give the half backs to Wasps but centres to Saints. Back 3 are pretty close with strong players on show. Looking at the benches I can see Wasps just getting a slight edge with Cruden and Yarde to come on and this edges a great high scoring game.
Sale 32 Scarlets 15
Sale are much stronger here and want to nick that final spot, I feel their back row and their backs will cause Scarlets problems, bit closer in the front row.

Bath 26-15 Ospreys
Bath are set out well and their outside backs will cause ospreys some issues, feel they will take the 2nd row battle. The game is made a bit closer by SOB playing for Ireland.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round Four
Bath 25-15 Ospreys
SOB starts for Ireland, losing him makes a difference to the scoreline, as very youthful Bath backrow, but still win by 10 points with a man down off the bench.
Dragons 22-30 London Welsh
Nice balance of experience and youth for the away team, who have too much for an Ospreys team that are missing their internationals.
Gloucester 24 - 25 Harlequins
Steve has gone with his big guns in this game and with Burns at no10 for Gloucester I just see QC having the advantage to control the match for Quins. Mat's bench far better and will put a lot of pressure on Quins defence in final quarter but Quins hold on for a narrow, narrow win.
Cardiff 12-32 Tigers
Tigers will just bully the Cardiff pack off the park and Cardiff will just spend the game defending - easy away win for a strong Tigers team.
Saracens 20 - 25 Exeter
Losing Spedding makes a big difference to the team, fantastic player and getting replaced by a youngster and losing a player on the bench. Very even in the packs, backrow battle with a lot of youngsters, more edge in Sarries scrum. Sarries opted for a lot of youth on the bench, while Exeter have more established AP players and see that being a good advantage in the end.
Irish 25-25 Falcons
Would have been an Irish win if Prop didn't post the video (joke). Cant separate the sides, few players have been injured a little while, but Irish set up as very difficult to beat defensively. Falcons edge the bench, but can't see them getting enough advantage to get the away win.
Sale 30-11 Scarlets
Sale too strong and look to challenge on all fronts again (unless they cant qualify in this cup, in which case good win).

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round Four
Bath Rugby 28 - 18 Ospreys
Bath will face a tough game from the O's for the initial 50 minutes, especially with SOB starting for Ireland. However the likes of Kahui help lead the younger guys through and pull away from the Ospreys to record a strong home win.
Gloucester 19 - 27 Harlequins
On paper I saw this as one of the ties of the round, however in deeper thought it's a little more one sided. Quins will pummel Glaws up front, especially in the front five which will allow the Quins back row and backs plenty of time to impact the game. Shame as I think with a good platform Glaws back line looks sharp, but won't get much front foot ball to get the best of of Talebula and Walker. Glaws reserves are a little too late into the game to swing the momentum and prevent an away win for the Quins.
Newport Gwent Dragons 21 - 28 London Welsh
Dragons have some good experienced lads on the paddock to help them implement their game plan at Rodney Parade. Welsh have selected some experienced lads as well though, and have a much higher level of quality throughout the side, which shows throughout the duration of the game as they manage to pull dragons apart and record the away win.
Cardiff Blues 16 - 35 Leicester Tigers
There is too much in the Tigers pack to prevent anything but an away win. Tigers will manipulate an average looking Blues 15 to record the win.
Northampton Saints 32 - 33 Wasps
Massive game, with both very even throughout. With likes of Cruden and Slade involved there is a bit more control and ability to kick the Wasps to the tightest of victories.
London Irish 27 - 25 Newcastle Falcons
What is a pretty even game is seperated by the smattering of quality throughout the Irish side. Tough on Falcons with Faz keeping them in it during the game, but going away to Irish is difficult.
Sale Sharks 25 - 18 Scarlets
Sharks will find the scrums a little difficult with two natural LH's on the pitch, but otherwise they will find this quite routine, despite the attacking ability in the back line of the Scarlets.

Bath 24-16 Ospreys
Enough quality about Bath for the win but not sure the youth will get the bonus point.
Gloucester 22-26 Harlequins
Quins can get at the scrum in a big way and the front 5 gives them a real foot hold. Back row battle interesting between the flanks but Palu a big step up at 8. Halfbacks tight. Midfield one a piece but Glaws stronger as a combo but more about the Quins back three.
Dragons 22-30 Welsh
Unsure of some of the welsh youngsters but impact late on seals the bonus point.
Saracens 22-21 Exeter Chiefs
Sarries edge the front 5 battle and Foley gives them proven international quality at flyhalf. Man short doesn't helpon the bench but should just sneak this.
Cardiff 18-36 Tigers
Way too much quality about Tigers
Saints 24-30 Wasps
Wasps with a good scrum advantage and the back row can dominate to give the backs a good platform.
London Irish 22-27 Newcastle Falcons
Falcons edge the front 5 but Irish the back row. Back lines even overall but more about the Falcons bench and can see them sneaking a close one.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round Four
Bath 26-19 Ospreys
Young team out for Bath with a sprinkling of quality that is enough for the win at home, and some class off the bench will seal it
Gloucester 26-28 Quins
Quins to take the scrum pretty easily, and probably just the lineout too. Back row to Glos, Quins at HB and probably about evens in the backs. Plenty of impact off both benches, but advantage in front 5 and HB is enough for Quins to take the win
Dragons 15-31 Welsh
Don't know much about the a Dragons side, but Welsh have quality in the likes of Vito and FTD and will take a bonus point win
Saracens 24-21 Exeter
Both teams gone with young lineups, but Sarries have a touch more about the front 5 in experience terms, and in the backs Foley and the centres have the touch of class to win this one at home despite the loss of Spedding
Cardiff 20-32 Leicester
Tigers big pack and bench forwards will be way too strong for Cardiff, and there's plenty of talent in the backs to be able to take advantage and win the bonus point
Saints 29-34 Wasps
Wasps have an advantage at scrum time, about evens at the lineout but think the back row of Wasps will be on top at the breakdown. The Wasps backs just have the edge, but Saints no mugs either. The bench of Wasps just good enough to hold on to a good win away
Sale 33-17 Scarlets
Sale pack has far too much quality for a lightweight Scarlets pack, and the backs will put away a few tries to secure the bonus point win.
