Title Decider 2: Wales v Ireland 14 March
First topic message reminder :
WALES v IRELAND
Saturday 14 March 2015
KO: 14:30
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
Referee: Wayne Barnes (RFU)
AR1: Chris Pollock (NZR)
AR2: Federico Anselmi (UAR)
TMO: Graham Hughes (RFU)
*****
The bookies are keeping with their earlier predictions of no GS winner above Ireland's chances. And same for the Triple Crown. Though they have Ireland as favourites in Cardiff but not by much.
Given the distinct love-in that we've had over the last fortnight between Irish and English fans, are Wales now the new 'old enemy'?
Keep it clean folks.
Well a bit anyway.

15. Rob Kearney (UCD/Leinster) 14. Tommy Bowe (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster) 13. Jared Payne (Ulster) 12. Robbie Henshaw (Buccaneers/Connacht) 11. Simon Zebo (Cork Constitution/Munster) 10. Jonathan Sexton (Racing Metro 92) 9. Conor Murray (Garryowen/Munster)

Which makes no sense when you think about it, but i wonder if there is too much fancy hands going on in the 10/12 and not enough width….there is plenty of froth foot ball so i just wonder what is going on there

Penalty try... Think that was a little quick from Barnes...

Re: Title Decider 2: Wales v Ireland 14 March
Penalty try was the only way we were getting a score.
Barnes told Warburton the next penalty was a yellow card so if he gives a penalty try surely it should be a yellow too?

10 mins left. plenty of rugby. ireland still need 2 scores. wales need to attack and not just defend or they might lose it...

What was the pen try for? Looked like the Irish brought it down or was it something else?

Re: Title Decider 2: Wales v Ireland 14 March
if it was "foul play" you do occasionally see a yellow given as well...liam williams shoulder bargr vs SA springs to mind. but usually they just give the pen tryGolden wrote:Sexton not having the greatest game.

Re: Title Decider 2: Wales v Ireland 14 March
Different type of offence as well. Warning was for about slowing the ball down, pen try was (correctly IMO, Ireland had control with the ball at the back and without the collapse a try was certainly "probable") for pulling the maul down. Also with the mass of bodies was Barnes sure of identity of culprit?
A lot of reasons to explain lack of YC for that one.

Re: Title Decider 2: Wales v Ireland 14 March
Could have gone either way. Bodies everywhere so Barnes has to decide whether without the Welsh bodies there Ireland would have been able to clear Warburton out. Questions as to to what extent Warburton was on his feet as well.
I would lean penalty to Ireland, but no issues either way.
No arguments over that YC either.
I think Barnes has been excellent personally.
