First topic message reminder :

Pooly do you actually read what is posted ??? I Actually say it's not a red but point out why they may have upheld it. As "most" people who watch the game know concussion Is a hot topic and the RFU has to show it's being tough on it and by virtue of this they are going to be a bit reactionary to people who cause it.

As I point out if he has not been knocked out there would not have been a red. Hughes had no need to run in and it was careless.

Please take the trouble to read posts carefully. Whistle

Amazed they gave him a one week ban in the first place, think it was a case of protecting the referee initially. Just a shame that he missed out on the Toulon game.

Sinoti brilliant attacker, same sort as Wade in the sense he gets fans on their feet and anticipating a try every time he touches it. Not so sure about defence, but great player to watch.

Nothing wrong with Sinoti's defence, he's a great defender. Can't kick for toffee but does he need to?

Burgess in his best position looks decent

Could be a good move for Burgess into the back row, he works so well with Louw - he was having some good games for Bath in the centres, he destroyed us (and Ben Jacobs especially!!!) when we played them. But something just wasn't quite clicking, Bath trying too many different combinations and failing to put him into any sort of space.

Hope he makes it!

Sinoti fantastic going forward. Lovely balance. A great ap player. Would worry about him a level higher.
Kick in behind and he is suspect.

Ball in hand is sensational to watch. A real pleasure

If he'll make it anywhere it'll be the backrow. Plenty of hands on and bags of tackles.

Devoto has struggled tonight. Takuna's hair cut is making me feel sick

Worst thing about the Hughes ban was that "no act of foul play took place" according to the panel, so how did the first panel ban him? RFU disciplinary process makes no sense to me at all.

Ford used to be a big target of his. " will never make it " and many other comments spring to mind.

To be fair it is a good source of comedy If you can step back and view it for what it is.

Deveto v clever player, reminds me of Greenwood - Bath need to just play him and make sure he develops properly as don't want to do what Leicester did to Ford and have him move away. For me, probably brightest prospect we have at no12, alongside the lad from Sarries.

Could get more gametime as Eastmond seems to have slipped right off form, was looking good at the start of the season - sure they will move him to wing eventually to get him on the pitch, Bath have some backline!

As I said at time Hughes red was not a red but you could see how a ref would get there.

They are given directives and hung out to dry when they miss something.

Last year challenging in the air was policed to a silly point.

This year and probably for foreseeable future concussion is big news.

Ap is anticipating some big claims and is getting its house in order.
Since the huge NFL pay out rugby is back pedalling furiously and putting systems in place like concussion test.

My mate who is bristol backs coach said they have received massive protocols around knocks in training and other areas since 6n mess up with North.

All clubs have or are increasing number of Dr's at training and matches. Bristol have 2 head injury specialists recruited for match days one neurology and one some other speciality I can't remember. It's all about avoiding post career litigious actions. T

Think of how many players quit due to concussion.
Many of them were probably managed poorly

Fielden better than sharples. All have them. Pdj best th in England was another of yours.

We often make mistakes.

Ford was always going to be class anyone could see that.

I played against billy v, Mako and their dad when they were underaged for senior rugby by a couple of years billy possibly 3 years under and there was never a doubt they would not make it.

Scored 3 that day and we won easily but now it looks
An achievement.

Both of tjem were explosive even then. Their
Dad played th for Tonga in WC and is a baptist minister and was
Coach of a few bristol sides.

Jake white is in times today talking of how Lancaster is wrong to not pick Simpson
And daly.

Simpson is unreal at moment and I imagine even on that site must be number 1 form English 9

I really rate devoto.
As you will know I love a footballing 12 and he is
It. Also a massive lad and good defender.

Have had most of the good footballing 12s
On here hence why I wanted Toomua.
For me him and Gits best footbaling 12s out
There. Toomua a monster defender also. The Aussie commentator goes mental for his defence.

I love the look of Stephenson at saints who you have and also Tompkins the sarries 13 as young centres coming through. Also slade and hill mean the pipeline is looking well

I don't think he was officiating any games this weekend, RFU always handle these things badly - the ref was clearly not experienced enough for a game that big.

Same with you on the playmaking style no12 - Deveto and Slade both have the potential to have that role for England post WC. There's a young centre from Quins I think called Merchant or similar who is meant to be pretty good as well.

Would agree with White there on Simpson and Daly - think Care is playing himself out at the moment and Daly is a great like for like for JJ. I bet they don't make it though - Lancaster doesn't take gambles at all.

I much pre fare a ball player at 12. I think a big carrier in the backs is over rated if you'v got loads of movement or good moves.

Post by Guest Fri 10 Apr 2015, 10:51 pm

We chuck them in early. Also we have a weird fast track.
I know Wayne Barnes and his family fairly well. He is 2 years younger from me and started reffing men's 4thxv when I played as
A 15 year old( illegal
Now) and he was 13.
As I became older 18 and was playing national
2 (one below what is champ now) he reffed us then. He was awful as had 5/6 years experience but as was young had been identified.
Also as lots of us knew him
He was against us in a bid to look impartial. Now
He is a fine ref but he was pitched in far too early.

The argument is do you let them find feet or ease them in.

My answer is he is not ready and even national 1 is too far. He needs to learn how to block out players.
Even at dross level I play infrequently now as player coach we have young lads we can influence reffing. They get a poor review but then next season are reffing several leagues higher.

They should try and get more ex players. That said Glenn Jackson has started to become a poor ref after starting so well

Lots of coaches think a big fast 13 is
Way to go as more space and
12 to put them in hole.

When I did the england u16 south session on Sunday at Wellington all the backs looked
The same.
There was no bosh merchant. They were all lithe and had good ball skills.
It was all about realigning and slitting
In no matter what number on the baxk session I watched. All focus on position and running back
Turnover. The session I helped with(essentially a bag holder as it turned out) had monster lads but I would say very pattern orientated. When ball broke down they had no idea on our session.

Usually England backs get a bad rep but the coaching set up was geared to a fluid baxkline.

England had 3 u16 sides at Wellington
The lot we did had played a fixture day before and a rucking and brrakdown session was not what they needed or wanted. Shows how much resource we have they were playing Wales usa
Etc all with different sides.

Our forwards were massive.

The result tonight shows how far ahead the top sides
Are.

Bath put out a completely second string pack and get a bp. The top four is becoming
Like footy and so advanced.

Glos Newcastle Irish etc would not have beaten that bath lineup
Which was poor.

Glos up for sale and the buyer looks exciting to say least

Crusaders are really poor at the breakdown.
Their front 5 despite having whitelock in it is not the best.

DAgg has been superb this last month but has been very average today. Read has been shocking and it is not often you can say that
