2015 World Championships - Discussion Thread
First topic message reminder :
So another world championship at The Crucible is upon us. Who will emerge victorious and be crowned the world champion? For me a lot depends on the early rounds. Players who will get better as the tournament goes on I feel will be the likes of Neil Robertson, Mark Selby and John Higgins so them avoiding an early exit will put them right in contention. Obviously, Ronnie O'Sullivan will be one of the favourites and his chances will hinge on avoiding top notch match play players ie Mark Selby and John Higgins in the latter stages. Ronnie is at his best in matches against expansive shot players who play an open game and whose misses leave chances. This year it is wide open I think so here is hoping we have a great fortnight of snooker. Enjoy and start discussing here when the matches get under way........

Shaun Murphy seals his spot in the 2015 World Snooker Championship Final beating Barry Hawkins 16-9. Murphy was in control from early on and stamped his authority on the match. He is looking good perhaps to bag his second world title.

This first frame of the evening is becoming crucial. Both have had chances and it hangs in the balance.

And it is Bingham that takes it and stretches his lead to 14-11.

Bingham will be looking to take one of the next 3 at least and it gets hard for Judd

Trump struggling for optimum position but takes the next frame and trails 14-12.

Trump on his way to winning the next frame on a sizeable break but a kick causes him to miss. Bingham could put a nail in Judd's coffin if he were to win this one.

But Trump takes the frame in the end and trails 14-13. This is getting very interesting.

Once again when Trump nears Bingham, Stuart pulls out another frame. Bingham goes into the mid-session interval leading 15-13.

Trump nibbles into that lead again taking the first frame in the last mini-session of the match. Bingham leads 15-14.

If Trump wins this frame I take him to go on and win the match. In other words (for me) whoever wins this frame wins the match.

As cool and collected as you like Bingham fires in another sizeable break and he is on the brink of fulfilling his dream. He leads 16-14.

Trump hangs in there hitting a century break but still he is at last chance saloon - he trails Bingham 16-15.

Re: 2015 World Championships - Discussion Thread
Well when he's most needed it Judd Trump has found that extra gear. He hits another sizeable break to level the match at 16-16 and it is squeaky bum time and a final frame decider. This will crush Stuart Bingham if he loses this one.

That is four centuries in the last five frames. Trump was 16-14 down and hit back-to-back centuries to level the match. Superb stuff.

Wouldn't bother me if he did. He won't get many more chances at a world final whereas Judd is just starting out. Defeat for Bingham will crush him as he led 16-14.

What a nailbiter! And it is Stuart Bingham who holds his nerve and wins 17-16 to reach the Final where he will play Shaun Murphy. Commiserations to Judd but there will be other years for him but well done to Bingham - a hardened pro who has proved himself in other tournaments around the world but now he has done it where it matters the most - The Crucible.

Bingham deserved that for sheer bottle for shots that he played in that last frame. Really pleased for him and I will be supporting him in the final.

Fully merited it is too. Lets just remember he has beaten two players the media cream themselves most over in back-to-back matches without needing any luck whatsoever. He has beaten Ronnie and Judd fair and square and deservedly so and for me that should earn him the title (I hope) on Monday night.

One of the most exciting decider and fantastic play from Stuart. That combination along the cushion was just a miracle. Deserved winner and root for him in the final. That was a cool play from the BIG Stuart. As CC said, Judd will get more chances in the future, so really happy for Stuart!

Absolutely, just one step for Stuart, he surely can do it and I wish him the title. It would be well deserved.

Murphy takes the first frame of the final. No real chances of note for Bingham. Stuart has proved himself a great front-runner at The Crucible this year but how will he cope if he has a poor session to start?

Crucial second frame. Bingham had a chance to nick the frame misses the final pink and Murphy pots it to take the frame and lead 2-0.

Perhaps a wrong shot selection there from Bingham coupled with a very poor run of the ball. Murphy, with the reds spread far and wide mops up another frame to lead 3-0. He'll desperately want the final frame before the mid-session interval.

Much better frame there from Bingham's point of view. A century break (first of the final) and Bingham puts his first frame on the board and trails Murphy 3-1 at the mid-session interval.

A measured break from Bingham of 50+. Well we have already seen he won't crumble when facing a big deficit. Murphy leads 3-2.

A big frame this one. Bingham has had three good chances, Murphy has had chances and it has involved a bout of safety play.

Bingham starts the evening session with a break of 57 but Murphy strikes back with a clearance of 74 to pinch the frame. Murphy leads 5-4.
