What a Carry On
First topic message reminder :
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/32397815
Looks like Rhonda Rousey (guaranteed a free ticket by Arum himself) will be sat on her own...watching an empty ring! Maybe Amir Khan will also be there. Should make for an interesting evening when he decides to show her his c*ck and she kicks the sh!t out of him.
Ten days to go and still not a single ticket available. Out of 16,500 tickets available only 1,000 will be available to the general public!?!?!? Venues wanting to show it on closed circuit tv still have no idea what they will be asked to charge people. The greed of all involved is absolutely stomach churning and I'm hoping they both get KO'd or the fight is so dire they get lynched by an angry mob.

I don't really mind the closed circuit tv bit (although it would get right on my nerves it I was stuck in with a bunch of stuck up their own butts herberts) it's the tickets that get too me.
Still fuming over it now.
Doubt even Eddie will get a ticket. No chance of tickets trickling down to us

There have apparently been 15,000 applications for press passes. Grant all of them and the venue is nearly full!
Have no desire to debate the economic drives behind the decision but the fight is being held in a clearly inadequate venue. This ticketing farce just underlines that fact.

Wouldn't surprise me if Floyd had someone filming the fight on his mobile and for a mere $50 Floyd lets you watch it....I says lets you watch it, I mean lets you catch a glimpse as he hangs his arm out the window of his car on his way to the bank to deposit his $200million cheque
Did you watch it in Bradford?

Sounds like The Elbow Room on Call Lane to me, Dave. And I had just shot someone in Chapeltown

The few hundred tickets that were made available to fans were sold out in 60 secs and the majority went straight onto re-sale websites for 5 and 6 figure sums, only Strongy can afford that sh!t.....

One could only imagine the throthing dribble being ejaculated by him if Hearn did something like that (only releasing a tiny amount of tickets). One rule springs to mind.

I haven't condoned the ticket sales it fact further up the thread I said I missed out on the trip because of the ticket fiasco.
As for Eddie, when he puts on the biggest fight in a quarter of a century I'll cut him some slack. Just to spell it out that's NEVER.

Wow, so Eddie will never get any credit because he's not involved in promoting the biggest fight in boxing, even though he managed to sell more tickets for a fight between two blokes, neither of whom are even the best fighter in their weight class, than anyone in Britain has done for Lord only knows how long. When you have the two best fighters on the planet facing each other it's a much easier sell I'd assume....and, as already stated, as poor as you deem Eddie to be, he wouldn't have ended up with the ticket sales abortion this fight has brought about.

But attendence he already has....(and offered a much fairer range of ticket prices).

Re: What a Carry On
The ticketing is a fiasco of the highest order, Everyones priced out of it, 100 dollars for the PPV in the US and so on. It's not a fight for the fans, it's a fight for everyone else involved to squeeze every last penny out of it. (Cause it's not like they're millionaires or nothing.)
If Eddy put this on, in a massive stadium with tickets starting at a fiver he'd still get stick of Strongy, it's what happens when jealousy takes over.

STRONGY's not jealous, he just cares about the rest of us little people and doesn't want to see a Billy Big Bollox like Eddie taking advantage of our good nature/stupidity.
Strongy's the real man of the people, he really genuinely cares about those beneath him (basically everyone else)

I'll be clear and say I am buying this fight so what I am about to say is quite hypocritical.
The snobbish exclusivity, price, and general disregard for genuine fans after waiting 5 years + is really quite disgusting.

Im reading only 1,000 tickets were made available to the general public and these were bought for the re-sale market withing a minute? The average price expected to be 30/40k for a seat. Nevada apparently has no laws on regulating re-sale markets so prices are expected to be through the roof.

Re: What a Carry On
Just 1,000 tickets were made available to the public for the fight, with tickets making their way onto resale sites for around £47,000 each within hours of being sold.
Fans in Las Vegas who miss out on tickets will have to pay $150 (£99) just to watch the fight on closed-circuit TV at an MGM property as the company have exclusivity in the city.
Stupid Font size - taken from sky sports.
On another note, was peed off again when I heard they'd be charging for the weigh in, but all money is going to charities which is a good idea really.

Use the word charity and it makes the absurd seem acceptable to the gullible.

Re: What a Carry On
Not really remove the word charity and it is already extraordinarily rich men scraping every last drop of money from an already dripping in money event. Add the word money and it becomes already extraordinarily rich men throwing a small portion of the money available to those less fortunate than themselves.
Nobody is likely to get any humanitarian awards on the back of this, but the fact the money goes to charity completely changes the context of charging folk to attend the weigh in.

Yup, allowing fans give to charity is most noble. Weigh in costs will probably be covered before any profit donations are made which is lucky as those staging the event must be hard up. At least on the surface this looks like generosity, even if it is the fans who are actually donating.

Not really sure why you need to make sure that "real fans" have to see it inside the arena.........and what is a real fan ?? ....someone that is poor and likes Boxing ??
Or is a real fan someone who likes Boxing and isn't a celebrity.....
Rich people and Celebrities not allowed to be fans ??....
You take the price you can get..........It's a hard sport you take what you can...
I mean I bet there aren't too many people outside Gerard Mclellan's house eveyday paying homage !!........
Wonder how many people stop Paul Ingle for a picture and an autograph !!

Boxers that were injured........
In an ideal world horsey everyone that wants to go to a fight could...............Heaven knows why they didn't have it outside (like the old Yankee stadium days)..........
Fact is they didn't and they are going for the high end..............Not to say that these high enders aren't real fans though !!

There's a lot to say about pricing the average fan out of this. A lot of fans here and everywhere complain about the state of boxing and the ridiculous situations it finds itself in (belts for everyone, daft defences etc etc) but if your going to sit and state 'well, that's the way it is' Stop effin complaining then.
It's double standards all around.

Imagine your a millionaire (just) and paying £50k for your ticket. You hear ding ding and then "he's gone. First punch thrown and he's caught him cold". I'd literally p1$$ myself... Then realise i was watching it on PPV.

Re: What a Carry On
Half of me would love to see this fight called off morning of the fight or just before it starts, just to see the despair and realisation that they've all been David Haye'd (on the other hand there'll also be a lot of regular folk in Vegas just trying to catch the atmosphere of the fight.)
Think Sky have got the right idea with the PPV, order it now but you'll only pay for it if you watch the fight.
Strongy - Dunno about overdrive but they've had a ringside special and quite a few ad bits on SSN. It all seems very muted apart from on the boxing sites.

I saw a pretty funny picture on Twitter going round (Think its on Steve Kim of UCN's) page, it was to show the effects of methamphetamine, and it showed a couple of before and afters with horrific results, then showed Jaime Foxx and then Floyd Mayweather Sr. As a before and after. Pretty hilarious.
