OWGR May 2015, The Quest for US Open and Open Championship Exemption
First topic message reminder :
This weekends winners are Rory (Regains a Hammerlock on #1) in the Cadillac Matchplay, IJ Jang on the Japanese Tour (about #220), Vaughn Groenwald on the Sunshine Tour (to about #425), Smylie Kaufman on the Web-com Tour (to about #328).
This is what the Top 100 should look like tomorrow. The Open Championship deadline says Week 21, which I think is May 25th for the Top 50. The US Open exemption deadline are June 8th and June 15th.

Re: OWGR May 2015, The Quest for US Open and Open Championship Exemption
inco,
Jason Dufner's 2013 PGA Championship win will be erased from his record but, remember, each win/point decrements (is that a word?) proportionately from weeks 14 thru 104 when it is expunged completely.
The key here is when Rory returns, but fifth place finishes for Spieth at both Bridgestone and PGA will close the gap significantly IF Rors has to sit them out.

Re: OWGR May 2015, The Quest for US Open and Open Championship Exemption
Rory is losing a tournament in his divisor this week so the delta between Spieth will increase with next week's rankings.
Assuming Rory does not play either B-Stone or PGA, Jordan needs to win B-Stone to get the #1 ranking, or earn a total of 66 OWGR points in the B-Stone and PGA to get the #1 ranking.
A win in either tournament will get him the #1 ranking. There are only a couple ways he can become #1 by not winning either tournament before the Playoffs.
Solo 2nd in B-Stone, Solo 5th (or better) in PGA
Solo 3rd in both the B-Stone and the PGA
Solo 17th or better in B-Stone and Solo 2nd in PGA
Assumes the B-Stone is OWGR Level 74. (It was a level 76 with the #1 player in the field the last two years)

Two fifth places at BS and PGA would give Jordan 41.8 OWGR points. Still about 25 pts from the #1 ranking.
If Jordan wants the #1 ranking before the end of the 2014-15 PGAT season, it won't be by the Lee Westwood backdoor method. He is going to have to play and play well

Do we think Rory will return for the PGA?

Does no word on the PGA mean he has no chance of teeing it up at whistling straits?
I doubt we will see him again until 2016.

No, it means he hasn't made a decision on the USPGA or publicised it yet

Marc Warren sitting on the 50th spot in the OWGR after his 4th place finish in the Match Play.
If he wants to play B-Stone, he has dodge every bullet from Bowditch, Lingmerth, and Danny Lee.
Bowditch has to finish T4th to go ahead of him
Lingmerth has to finish T2nd (3 way)
Lee has to finish solo 2nd.
