The results show a definite case of the haves and have nots.  Soren Kjeldsen was a popular pick and his playoff win earned plenty of points for the top half of the leaderboard.  Only seven picks made it into the top 20 and lots were just on the cusp.  BlueCoverman had the most with three picks and eight others had two picks score points.  Raycastleunited was one of those that had a second pick and the second pick finished high enough for him to overtake Davie who just had Kjeldsen score points.  I'm Never Wrong, SetupDetermines, Super_Realist, and AlciG also had another pick to go with Kjeldsen.  Beninho, Boyhyde, and CJB each had two picks score but they didn't pick Kjeldsen.  Three Fantasy Leaguers failed to have a pick finish in the top 20.

Danny Willett shot 68 for the low round of the day earning points for Boyhyde.  Scott Hend and Andrew Dodt struggled and finished with 82s and fell to the bottom of the leaderboard sharing last place with Soren Hansen.

The Rory Juggernaut blew a tyre and failed to make the weekend but that's not stopping him from teeing it up this week in a tournament he's promoting in his home country.

The venue for this week is Royal County Down.  McIlroy is promoting, headlining, winning? the Irish Open.  he's joined in the field by fellow top 10 players Sergio Garcia, a former Irish Open winner, and Rickie Fowler; who played against McIlroy when the US Walker Cup team came to Royal County Down in 2007.  Other previous winners include the defending champion Mikko Ilonen, Simon Dyson, Ross Fisher, Shane Lowry, Richard Finch, Padraig Harrington, Stephen Dodd, Brett Rumford, and Soren Hansen.  Other players from the 2007 Walker Cup are David Horsey, John Parry, and Danny Willett from the GB & I side and Jonathan Moore from the US side.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligble for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Mac, maybe you should devise a duckworth/lewis style formula to account for late picks. e.g. pre-tournament Rory McIlroy was the most obvious pick for everyone but those picking late are clearly going to avoid him. Should they have a scoring adjustment to factor this in?

Not a bad idea Ray, but there is enough work for Grumps as it is.

The easiest solution would be for people to submit on time. How hard can it be?

I propose that all those who posted after the first tee shot was struck shall be disqualified. All those who picked McIlroy say aye...

What if he had been -10 after the first round? Do they get points added due to missing out on the most obvious pick?

Scoring was tough at Royal County Down as only thirteen players managed to break par in round one and only six managed to beat 70. Four of those six were picks with Soren Kjeldsen the most popular pick by far. Danny Willett and Emiliano Grillo were not so populat but definitely worth having as a pick as they and Kjeldsen shot 69. Padraig Harrington was picked by SirBenson and what an astute pick that was. Harrington shot 67 to tie for the lead with Maximilian Kieffer. At the other end of the leaderboard Rory McIlroy set the early pace for worst round of the day by shooting 80 but was ultimately dislodged from that slot by Michael McDermott who finished with an 82.

Just over half of the Fantasy League picks waved goodbye to the Irish Open and in doing so the vast majority of Fatasy Leaguers waved goodbye to cut bonuses. These were almost like rocking horse droppings as only six were awarded; three for Category A and three for Category B. Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia ruined a lot of chances.

Davie was one of the few to earn a cut bonus and he has the most picks left with seven. LadyPutt, Raycastleunited, and TheCleaver have six picks left and each earned one of the precious bonuses too; Pedro and RedRage also have six picks left. 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, Hibbz, I'm Never Wrong, Kouchi, Sand, SetupDetermines, and Super_Realist all have five picks left; Super also earned one of the bonuses. AlciG, Beninho, Boyhyde, CJB, EmmDee57, Eyetoldyouso, Kwinigolfer, McLaren, and SirBenson all have four picks left; Boyhyde picked up the last cut bonus.

Tyrrell Hatton shot 66 for the low round of the day. Hennie Otto and Jonathan Moore both shared the worst round shame with 86s. The cut line fell at +5.

Scoring was better in round three as there were fifteen rounds in the sixties compared to the fourteen that happened over the first two days.  Maximilian Kieffer shot 65 for the low round of the day and rounds of 68 or lower were needed to get into the top 10 low round scores.  Three picks did just that and a number of Fantasy Leaguers; 1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, I'm Never Wrong, Kouchi, McLaren, Raycastleunited, and SetupDetermines had two of the three.  Ten other Fantasy Leaguers had one of the three picks.

Francesco Molinari was one of three players to shoot 79 for the worst round of the day.  Davie, LadyPutt, Pedro, and Raycastleunited all picked Molinari.  The others to shoot 79 were Richard McEvoy and Soren Hansen.

The results show a definite case of the haves and have nots. Soren Kjeldsen was a popular pick and his playoff win earned plenty of points for the top half of the leaderboard. Only seven picks made it into the top 20 and lots were just on the cusp. BlueCoverman had the most with three picks and eight others had two picks score points. Raycastleunited was one of those that had a second pick and the second pick finished high enough for him to overtake Davie who just had Kjeldsen score points. I'm Never Wrong, SetupDetermines, Super_Realist, and AlciG also had another pick to go with Kjeldsen. Beninho, Boyhyde, and CJB each had two picks score but they didn't pick Kjeldsen. Three Fantasy Leaguers failed to have a pick finish in the top 20.

Danny Willett shot 68 for the low round of the day earning points for Boyhyde. Scott Hend and Andrew Dodt struggled and finished with 82s and fell to the bottom of the leaderboard sharing last place with Soren Hansen.

Only having 4/9 made cuts had me worried there so can't complain with the end result

Grumps - with the potential for rail strikes here in the UK in the coming week/s (which means I may have to have the occasional day off work - and adjourn to the golf course ) could I please have pick numbers 1, 5 and 7 with 13 as reserve (or the nearest to that if there aren't 13 in the category) if I don't pick by the deadline time?

This is particularly peeving because LordPutt is about to start 7 and a half weeks of radiotherapy next Monday as he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and the only way he can really get to St Thomas's Hospital in London for his treatment is by train.
