Kwinigolfer may have been looking over his shoulder to keep tabs on Hibbz but he should have looked the other way as Sand came racing up the outside and blew the field away. Sand had five of his picks score including eventual winner Rickie Fowler. Kwinigolfer had four picks score as he settled for joint second with Owen10ozzy and SetupDetermines who both had four picks score. LadyPutt was the other Fantasy Leaguer to have four picks score. Out of the four score group it was just SetupDetermines who had the winner. BlueCoverman, EmmDee57, I'm Never Wrong, Pedro, and SirBenson each had three picks score althoug Pedro was the only one not to have the winner from that group. Beninho, Davie, Hibbz, Kouchi, Raycastleunited, and RedRage all had two picks score and Hibbz and Davie had the better quality picks in that group. 1GrumpyGolfer, AlciG, Eyetoldyouso, McLaren, and Super_Realist all had one pick score and there was great variation in the quality.

Fantasy League pick Marc Warren was one of two players to shoot 64 for the low round of the day. That earned points for Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, Owen10ozzy, and Sand. Rikard Karlberg was the other player to shoot 64. At the other end of the leaderboard popular pick Michael Hoey joined the not so popular pick of Lucas Bjerregaard in shooting 77 to tie for the worst round of the day. 1GrumpyGolfer, Beninho, I'm Never Wrong, Kouchi, Kwinigolfer, Raycastleunited, and Sand picked up points here. Kwinigolfer had both of them! Jordi Garcia Pinto finished in last place on +5.

With news of Rory McIlroy's self inflicted injury dominating headlines, just who is going to headline the Scottish Open? Step forward Justin Rose, the top ranked player in the field who just so happens to be the defending champion to boot. Rose will be attempting to defend his title won at Royal Aberdeen over a composite course at Gullane; 16 holes from number 1 and 2 from number 2 make up the course.

Big name Americans are getting their last minute preparations in for the Open Championship next week; Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker, Matt Kuchar, and former Scottish Open winner Phil Mickelson are all here. Other former winners in the field include Jeev Milkha Singh, Luke Donald, Edoardo Molinari, Graeme McDowell, Gregory Havret, Johan Edfors, Thomas Levet, Colin Montgomerie, and Thomas Bjorn. Although players in that list from Molinari to Bjorn won at Loch Lomond before it was switched to a links venue.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one. There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me. Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

The good news is that everyone has a top five position at the moment. The bad news is the vast majority of Fantasy Leaguers are yet to get points on the board. Only two picks, Jimmy Walker and Seve Benson, made it into the top five low round scores. Walker and Benson are one of seven players at -5 some two shots behind Thorbjorn Olesen who shot 63 in the opening round. McLaren and SetupDetermines picked Walker while TheCleaver picked Benson.

At the other end of the leaderboard Oliver Farr shot 80 for the worst round of the day.

We finally managed it! The full set through to the weekend for the first time in this session; take a bow Kwinigolfer. Having passed go and collected all the cut bonuses Kwini is comfortably sitting atop the leaderboard. LadyPutt and Sand were the closest to matching him, Sand had Scott Jamieson miss the cut by a shot and LadyPutt had Richie Ramsay miss by two shots. Despite their good picks this pair aren't in second place; that's held by SetupDetermines. He was one three Fantasy Leaguers to have seven picks left with two cut bonuses. The others were Pedro and SirBenson. 1GrumpyGolfer, I'm Never Wrong, and TheCleaver also have seven picks left but only had the one cut bonus.

A whole host of Fantasy Leaguers have six picks left; AlciG, Beninho, BlueCoverman, Davie, Hibbz, McLaren, Owen10ozzy, and Raycastleunited. Spare a thought for Beninho, he was the only one not to earn a cut bonus from this group. EmmDee57 and Eyetoldyouso both have five picks left and they earned a bonus too. Kouchi also has five but no bonuses for him. RedRage and Super_Realist have just the four picks left.

For the second day running the low round score was 63 and this time it was a pick. Joost Luiten earned points for AlciG, Davie, Eyetoldyouso, and Hibbz. At the other end of the leaderboard was Mark Tullo and Callum Hill. They both had 78s to tie for the worst round of the day. AlciG picked up points for Tullo.

I'm jetting off to hot, humid, stormy Florida this afternoon so that means the update for round 3 will most likely be delayed and it's likely Round 4 could be too.

I'll post the Open thread as soon as I can as I'm guessing that one will be more important than the scores for this one. Does anyone know when the field will be finalised?

The final qualifiers are the top 3 (if in the top ten) in Bonnie and the leader in Quad Cities (if in the top 5); in both cases among those not otherwise exempt.
So I'd say your answer is Sunday evening, CDT.

Hibbz had a great day in round 3 as four of his picks shot 67 or lower to make the top 10 low round scores. One of his picks, Raphael Jacquelin, actually had the round of the day with a 64. However Kwini had another good day and he was just about able to hold off Hibbz's charge. AlciG had three picks score and Owen10ozzy matched his score by also picking Jacquelin and another scorer. Davie and Eyetoldyouso also had two picks score points. McLaren and SetupDetermines had a good and bad day with a pick that scored for good play and another, Jimmy Walker, that had one of the worst rounds of the day. Beninho, BlueCoverman, EmmDee57, I'm Never Wrong, LadyPutt, Pedro, Sand, SirBenson, and TheCleaver all had one pick score. 1GrumpyGolfer, kouchi, Raycastleunited, RedRage, and Super_Realist all failed to trouble the scorer.

Matthew Fitzpatrick was the other player to shoot 78 to tie for worst round of the day.
