Surrey vs Leicestershire LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
SURREY HAVE NAMED A THIRTEEN MAN SQUAD FOR THE LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST LEICESTERSHIRE AT GRACE ROAD STARTING ON SUNDAY.
Jason Roy is unavailable after being selected in the England squad for the upcoming One Day Series against New Zealand. Chris Tremlett is included having recovered from a hamstring strain that has seen him miss the last few weeks of action. Gary Wilson returns to the squad after helping Ireland beat the UAE in their recent Intercontinental Cup game.
The Surrey squad to play Leicestershire in the LV=County Championship at Grace Road on Sunday 7th June, Monday 8th June, Tuesday 9th June and Wednesday 10th June :
Gareth Batty (capt)
Zafar Ansari
James Burke
Rory Burns
Tom Curran
Steven Davies
Matthew Dunn
Ben Foakes
Stuart Meaker
Kumar Sangakkara
Dominic Sibley
Chris Tremlett
Gary Wilson
probably burke and meaker/curran (bowled a lot of overs maybe needs a rest) to miss out.
with kp not coming back for a while at least if it all sibley can open and zafar can drop down to 4
over to you guys

KP is obviously running scared of leicestershire given their current run of form

Cheers, JimBob.
Stewie said the same on Monday as you about Curran needing a rest. Think Trem will replace him.
Sibley for Pietersen and perhaps Wilson (playing only as a batsman) for Roy. One alternative would bé to leave Wilson out and give Burkey a CC debut (he could bat at 7 with Foakes moving up to 6). That provides an extra option if Dunn and Meaker start leaking runs, particularly as Trem will have to watch how many overs he bowls. I'll bé disappointed if Foakes doesn't play - he deserves to keep his place.
Think we may have to wait a bit longer for Sibley to open.
PS Corporal, I'm posting this from your old barracks in Durham. The officer in charge of IT needs putting on report!!

Surrey put in - Batty (about time!) and Meaker left out. Wilson captain and keeping so Foakes playing as batsman. Any odds on how long Tremlett will last once we bowl?

Slowed down badly - were about 45 off 9; then another 38 off about 22 overs!

Hi Guildford - not sure that full wonders of IT has reached the ancient Palatinate yet.
Interesting line up. Had been going to post that it was important that one or both of Ansari and Burns went on to make a big score, but too late now... With Sibley batting there's a risk that scoring rate grinds to a halt, but hopefully once Sanga has played himself in the rate will pick up a fair bit.

122 -3 Sanga falls for 21 after a partnership of 40 with Sibley. And now Davies falls for a duck 131 - 4. And now Foakes caught by the keeper from a leg glance for four. Sinking fast

Not good but if we can get above 200 into the 220-230 range we're still in the game

Curran passes his previous highest first class score of 26*. Much needed lower order partnership now up to 47*

191 - 7 at tea. Sibley played very solidly for his 38*. Curran has gone for his shots more, and had a bit of luck, on 36*

I'd say that's 40 below par, but we've got ourselves back in the game from a perilous position at 130 odd for 7

If we can pick up a wicket in the 8 overs left today we may just have sneaked to parity

Re: Surrey vs Leicestershire LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Hi guys - not been around today so catching up now. Doesn't look great but I guess could have been a lot worse. At 139/7 some of you must have been fearing 170 all out. Well done to Sibley and Curran for at least getting us up to 261 and two batting points.
Disappointing though that we couldn't get at least one wicket tonight. Contrast our position tonight with that of Lancs. They were dismissed for 275 at Bristol but in the 10 overs they had to bowl, Gloucs were reduced to 15/2.
Agree with the Corporal that we really needed one of Burns and Ansari to kick on after putting on 80 plus. Clearly unhelpful that they both fell within minutes of lunch on the same score.
Also as the Corporal posts, Churchy's pics show it to be a real green top. Probably fair enough then to leave out Batty although Meaker must be wondering when he will next get a game! There certainly seems distrust between having him and Dunn in the same side.

The green top doesn't appear to be causing Max and Dame Flora many problems. Leics moving serenely on to 95-0
