Under 21 Euro 2015 thread
First topic message reminder :
Tournament kicked off in the Czech republic today. Denmark came back strong to be the hosts 2-1. Pione Sisto, who's been touted as a potential star of the tournament scored the winner with an improvised to poke finish.
Championship favourites Germany were given a shock when Filip Djurcic gave Serbia the lead with a cool finish. Liverpool's Emre Can equalised soon after with a crisp strike from the edge of the box. Barcelona keeper Marc Ter Stegen tipped a long rang effort from Curcic onto the bar before half time.
Germany ended the match with ten men following left back Gunter receiving a second yellow card for diving.

All three goals have been preventable. Italy haven't played particularly well, they have merely capitalised on the mistakes made by England.
Now time for Istanbul...!

not sure you can blame it on the "talent" being stolen. do people really think we would have done that much better with sterling and barkley with a defence and cm like we have. you can clearly see kane has more ability in this team yet he's not scored a goal. conceding 3 your not going to win any games no matter which attackers you have

Still can't believe we started Chalobah and Forster Caskey when you have Loftus Cheek and Ward Prowse sitting on the bench....

If we took this serious, we'd have Shaw, Jones, chambers, Wilshere, Barkley & sterling out there. Seeing as we don't, it's the reason we're flying home tonight. Having better offence, does reduce pressure on a defence, you also keep possession better.

i dont see why established england players should drop down, i agree the likes of barkley/chambers/shaw should definitely be there. not starters in the current england team (some not even club side) and the experience would do them good. its not really going to do wilshere development much, especially with his injury track record
liam- have you seen this england side. all they do is lump it to kane and normally lose it. i dont see how sterling etc would help retain the ball with the way this team plays

I mainly agree with this. I can understand why Barkley was left out, as he's been picked for various England sides for the last four summers. He was probably due a rest.

Re: Under 21 Euro 2015 thread
Didnt see the game and only just found out the result this morning. But putting things into prespective a Swedish side down to 10 men came back and beat Italy 2-1.
I seen the starting lineup on Sky Sports news and when I seen CM paring of Foster-Caskey and Chalobah I thought we would struggle here. Especially since we have a good technically gifted player in Ward-Prowse on the bench who is also a great set piece taker. Not since much of Loftus-Cheek to really comment on him but I seen alot of fans and experts baffled why he hasn't been starting.
Although I agree that if we have our 'best' U21 side we would be close to being favourites. Its not fair on the players who played in the qualifers to be shunned for the big guns. And most of the time the big guns could give 2 f**ks and a more concerned about there summer off anyway!
This squad should have least qualified for the semi's, especially as the last game was against a completely out of sorts Italy side.

Re: Under 21 Euro 2015 thread
Shaw declared himself available but was deemed not fit enough to take.
Would be nice to see some middle ground though. The press beforehand saying we could win it and that we were really good they were model youngsters and the start of a bright future. Now we are out they are all a disgrace and over paid brats and England's future is doomed. It grates that we have this every time with our sports teams. Just look at the cricket team. We are world beaters again in the space of two weeks. If, as expected, we lose the ashes they will want them all hounding.

Ended 5-0. Germany had a man sent off to add insult to injury. It'll be a brave/foolish individual to back against Portugal winning the title on Tuesday.

Sweden win their first ever youth tournament beating Portugal 4-3 on penalties. William Carvalho penalty was saved giving Sweden the win.
I'm sure Duty will want me to point out that England were the only side to beat the eventual champions.

Caskey seriously? He's played one game for us in the cup against Southend where he was awful.
Buzzing for Walton and March though.
