The TNA thread - catch it whilst you still can!
First topic message reminder :
Thought I would start a thread where you can discuss the latest TNA episode each week and discuss the latest news.
I thought I would kick off with a funny comment that happened on this weeks show.
Joseph Parks was interviewed and he mentioned how he had fallen on hard times (and how it could be his new gimmick "hard times Joseph park"!) but how he lost all his money by investing in Tout!

Re: The TNA thread - catch it whilst you still can!
That was insane!
Some bits I lived (like the ghost of smokin Joe Frazier in the kangaroo) but other bits were poorly done.
But if nothing else, it was different. And that's what Tna needs at the moment.
Apparently, corgan is trying to buy TNA outright and is charge of everything creative currently.
The figures were disappointing for this show but it was up against the first game of the NFL season so nothing to worry about. Apparently, their share of viewers went up but the actual number of viewers went down meaning that pretty much every other show lost bigger numbers to the football.

Saw the Hardys' zoo segment on Sunday night...not quite as funny as I'd been led to believe. Though it does confirm the Hardys are nuts for even thinking about wrestling a kangaroo. That was one feisty-looking marsupial!
Also liking the new TNA Grand Champion Title. Cool-looking hexagonal belt (nice touch) and the 3 3-minute round format, with judges deciding who wins if no pin or submission, is taking it very much in the direction of pro sports. Even if its still scripted, the overall effect is very good and different from anything else.
If all this recent change is down to Corgan then I'd say he is having a very positive influence on TNA. Lets hope its reflected by improving ratings.

TNA valued at $4 million, WWE have put in a bid.

I've read this too
$4m is a lot of money for an abundance of spare turnbuckles though. I'm sure they'd be cheaper at Costco

Meltzer has now denied this. Billy Corgan is supposedly close to a deal to buying it outright.

Have to say I'm loving the Hardy Boyz at the moment, possibly my fave thing in wrestling at present.

Actually its likely to be mostly intellectual property...image and branding rights etc. Sounds about right, given TNA's audience and considering WWE is probably worth 100 times that.

Hope so, as he seems to be steering the company in a new and better direction, slowly but surely. $4m is probably spare change to the former Smashing Pumpkins frontman.

I just think after years of trying to replicate WWE/WCW that in the Delete storyline they're doing something not done before and it's quite refreshing.

Meltzer know reporting WWE back into the picture to buy TNA. Billy Corgan wants to buy, but may not have enough time to put a deal together. They have until Friday supposedly. They're also in more debt than the company is worth.
Imagine WWE are just going to strip TNA of their video library, so they have access to all the AJ Styles and Sting stuff. Not sure there's anybody on their roster they'd be massively interested in. Hilarious for Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes though if this does go through.

The following people would get a job in WWE tbh
Abyss
Drew Galloway
Eddie Edwards
James Storm - Provided WWE not feeling vengeful that day.
Matt & Jeff if clean
Possibly - To fill out the Cruiserweight Division
Andrew Everett
Trevor Lee
Tigre Uno

Can't see them signing Abyss at all. He's fat, old and WWE barely showed an interest when he was at his peak popularity, nearly 10 years ago. He's really really bad.
The Wolves have been turned down before, can't see them being picked up now with their attitude problems.
They probably would pick up James Storm and Drew McIntyre again.
I'm not sure about the Hardys, they enjoy their current schedule and not sure WWE will think it's worth giving them part time deals.

Re: The TNA thread - catch it whilst you still can!
Dont see Galloway going back anytime soon unless they offer him a good contract, he's said before that he enjoys working the indy scene and makes enough money doing so. He'd be welcomed back with open arms as he has improved immensely since he left but I dont know if he would want it.
Storm could go back to NXT and they could tease something with Roode.
Cant see where Abyss would fit into WWE at all, even if they were to sign him. The Hardys are interesting but I dont think WWE would take on the Broken thing and Matt Hardy is just boring without it. Jeff could still do a job for them but time is ticking and he's burned WWE before so Im no sure they'll take another chance with him.
I think the cruiserweight division is pretty stacked right now, I'd rather see them flesh out the characters that they have before bringing in more faces.

Surprised no one mentioned EC3 and Lashley.

EC3 is a possibility, but would he be Derrick Bateman? Unlikely to use the EC3 name and I'm not sure he'd actually be any good in WWE, got a very ordinary look and not a standout wrestler.
Lashley wouldn't be able to continue with Bellator and do WWE, so not sure he'd pick the WWE schedule.

I think EC3 and Drew McIntyre were less than complimentary to Triple H, NXT and WWE in a couple of promos for Evolve recently - so not sure they would be thrown the lifebelt

We've seen in the past Triple H is a strong business man, and if theres money to be made he'll give an olive branch to anyone. Look at Warrior and New Age Outlaws for example.

It'd be interesting to see if anyone listens to her "advice".
Have to admit I've not watched TNA for the last few weeks, so I'm a bit behind with things. The last thing I remember was some weird free-for-all that appeared to be in and around the grounds of Universal Studios.
It was dark, there were a bunch of people I've never seen before trying to get through a gate. Decay were racing around in a pickup truck.
Lashley and Eddie Edwards were fighting outdoors in a title match, but I don't recall seeing the finish of that one.
It was so weird I can't even remember what the Hardys were doing.

Re: The TNA thread - catch it whilst you still can!
Maybe he was recommended to Anthem...or they were told he was one of the co-founders and figured it made sense to try and get him back on board?
I just hope they can figure out a way to arrest the death-spiral they've gone into.
You know a wrestling promotion is in a bad place when the best thing about it is a weird, totally off-the-wall parallel storyline that has little to do with wrestling...even if it is weirdly, unaccountably entertaining.

I think they need a total reboot and rebrand to get rid of as much of the TNA stink as possible. Try as they might people will always associate the TNA name with a Poopie product no matter how good it is.

Re: The TNA thread - catch it whilst you still can!
Anthem are looking to sell GFW as it is 'hemorraging' funds. This comes at the same time as Jeff Jarrett has taken a step back from his executive role due to creative differences with the head of Anthem and it appears that the TNA/GFW merger wasnt finalised.
Just when you think they are out of the water they dive right back in head first.

Hadn’t watched this for a long time.
Interesting to see whose in it now.
Stephen Bonnar, never thought I’d see him in wrestling.
Johnny Nitro & Chris Masters.
Thought it was ok, but then don’t think much of wwe anymore either.
