Terry Flanagan v Jose Zepeda
The main event is coming up soon for the WBO lightweight title. I hope Terry can do it but i have my doubts.
So far on the card Paul Butler, Liam Walsh and Alexander Ustinov have all won.
The arena looks mostly empty, its sad considering a Brit is fighting for the title in front of his home crowd.

Reports on Sunday suggested this was (another) utterly appalling Frank Warren event.
Sure Strongy can tell us why he's so much better than Hearn still though??
And why, when an experienced promoter like Frank Warren can get it this wrong, Bazza could do it easy....
Anyone see the fight though? Sounded a bizarre ending and a bit of a plastic 'champ'.

Glad I missed it now as read about it and it was stopped after 2 with Zepeda suffering a dislocated shoulder. Ref gave it to Terry as it was an injury caused by Zepeda himself (threw a hook and missed) should have been a no contest really, but fair play to Flanagan he's offered him the rematch (although would be in a while once he's healed up.)

How does that work? Isn't it only supposed to go to the scorecards after 4?
To be fair to Terry, he was doing pretty well anyway

I think accidental goes to scorecards, but even then only after 4 rounds.
I thought anything in the first couple got ruled NC.
Then again, Dawson-Hoppo 1 was originally awarded to Chad because Hoppo ostensibly injured himself in the opening rounds. It was only later overturned to an NC.

I watched it all as I am a 'hardcore' fan who will watch any boxing that's on tv if I can. The undercard was dross, basically catterall (who I rate btw) and Liam Walsh beating South American dross. The Flanagen Zapeda fight was shaping up to be a good close contest, Zapeda threw a hook and miss his arm caught Terry's and his shoulder was dislocated(felt for the guy you could see the injury and had to leave the arena on a stretcher with what looked like morphine to help the pain.

I don't think Zepeda's corner did him any favours trying to ram it back in!
There was the usual outcry on Twitter afterwards but the WBO's rules are clear (if every fighter who retired on their stool was awarded a draw or a no contest then there'd be a sudden upshot in those results).
Flanagan looked comfortable in there while it lasted. A real fairytale result for the lad with some decent paydays ahead of him.

Think the Hoppo one was because Dawson lifted him up then put him down on his shoulder

Re: Terry Flanagan v Jose Zepeda
I disagreed and still do.
Dawson didn't perform some kind of suplex or power slam like Hoppo made out. Hoppo was trying his usual dirty cheating because he was in a fight he knew he couldn't win (see conclusive result in the return). He mounted Dawson like a fooking pony and Dawson bucked. Hoppo then cried the easy way out and got away with it. Bad Chad should be 2 and 0 against B-Hop.

Hopkins pulled the same trick against Robert Allen (first fight).

Hopkins took the rematch. May have lost but he obviously wasnt that desperate to get away from Chad

Yeh, because money had nothing to do with that.......
Hoppo lucked out with 2 pay days for being a cry-baby, glad Dawson handed him his arris at least (though not as devastatingly as Kov).

Re: Terry Flanagan v Jose Zepeda
Both Dawson fights sold very badly. Plus Hoppo ended up losing most of the first purse through legal fees. He may have not wanted the fights, and Kov certainly wasnt his ideal opponent, but in his late forties he took the fights because they were against the top ranked opponents in his division. Shame some younger fighters dont have such balls.
Still im sure you have your ownn narrative that entertains you
