Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Well we've signed Cabaye so our midfield is looking fairly impressive actually...
Nolan, Gossling, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierez, Barton (If he stays)
and youngsters like Ferguson, Vukic, Richardson etc.
Its strikers we need. Doyle i think would be a good one...with our midfielders flying up playing off him.
Oh and Fraser Foster to start in goal.....

Martins is at Rubin Kazan in Russia and gets payed about 10 barrells of oil a week. Not sure he would go for Ashleys couple of sausage rolls and a fudge donut bonus scheme.

Roger Johnson would be a great signing for you, alongside Coloccini would give you a solid defence

No, i wouldn't drop Taylor, he looked solid towards the end of the season, i just heard Colo's going to Liverpool so mentioned Johnson who is good. That bag of nerves Williamson isnt in Taylor's league though, and needs selling.

Okay then replace Colo in my comment with Taylor. Taylor and Johnson sounds good and solid. As for the rest of the list would the newcastle fans welcome N'Zogbia back?

Not sure, i know i would though, couldnt get near him in the 2-2 draw at SJP a game i was at and he was brilliant that day. Looks twice the player he was when he left as well

Agree on him looking better than he left. Probably Wigan's best player this season as well.
If you can get him then Sturridge on loan would be great, hopefully he'll get his chance at Chelsea next season. If not then I would far rather see him banging in the goals like he did at Bolton!

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Upson?! Really; are you having a laugh?
Shane Long would be a last resort if we couldn't get someone of better ability, Puncheon another one who I'd rather we steer clear of. Only person on that list I'd take is Sturridge, but I doubt he'd come here permanently and Chelsea wouldn't sell- I don't think.
Williamson did well for us last season, CB is really a position that doesn't need to be strengthened immediately. I'd take N'Zogbia back because we need some depth out wide.
Striker has to be our priority, and a LB if Enrique leaves. Erdinc and M'Bengue are supposed to be our targets and I'd be happy if we brought them to the Toon. Still need another striker as well, get rid of Lovenkrands (Never looked up to it at this level) and send Ranger out on loan.

Our midfield is looking very impressive even more so if we can get the signing of Gervinho. A centre back and a Striker would do lovely now. Johnson and Doyle I agree would be brilliant signings.

Long's better than any striker we have and is a really talented player so i'd buy him anyway but looks like he's on his way to Celtic. Upson no i rate him, highly. Don't like Williamson though, against Blackpool, Liverpool, Bolton in particular he was terrible, league 1 player, along with Perch.

But forgetting some of his stronger performances this season? He formed a strong partnership with Coloccini that earned us vital points.
Upson is too old, would want huge wages and is detiriating (sp) quickly. I'm not denying Long is talented, but with the cash available I think we should be targetting better.

Pardew being in that League might think he knows a bit about Mackail-Smith but its a helluva leap, might be a good 3rd or 4th striker but not 1st or 2nd

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Everton - Barton
West Ham - Nolan
Liverpool - Enrique
That's apparently where offers have came from. The only one who I'd be desperate not to lose is Enqrique. I'd like to keep Barton, but he's badmouthed the men in charge so can see him leaving. If we get an offer close to £4m then I'd be quite happy. As for Nolan, he's played under Allardye before, but would he drop down a league?

Do you think if Enrique doesn't leave this summer you have a good chance of signing him up to a new contract? Otherwise he's gonna go for nothing. I saw that Barca were linked with him today!

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
I'd like to see him sign a new contract if we start well to the season. Then, even if we sell him, it will be for a bigger price. I wouldn't feel too upset if it was Barcelona he left us for, but for L'pool to take Carroll AND Enrique in two seasons would be a bit too much.
But the biggest task is getting to September 1st with him still being our LB. We've made a bid for Neil Taylor (Swansea) to come in as backup, and if he leaves we're supposedly after M'Bengue.

We don't want to lose Nolan, he's out captain and contributed hugely last season with 12 goals and is a real worker, don't think he'd leave Newcastle to go to West Ham

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Nolan got goals that mainly came from poaching in at set pieces, an area where I'm sure someone else could fill. For a lot of games he went missing quite often and only looked good if he scored. He didn't create a lot either last season, infact, I think Shola had more assists than Nolan.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
His old mate Allardyce is at West Ham though, and he might have liked the feeling of being very good in the Championship as opposed to average in the Premiership.
I think it might be a push for him to get into your first 11 next year anyway with the quality you have.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
With Cabaye through the door, and hopefully Gervinho and Gameiro following, the attacking side of midfield onwards is very strong.
Gameiro
Gervinho
Jonas Cabaye Tiote Ben Arfa
However, having someone like Barton/Nolan on the bench with their experience would be key. If we lose them two, and Smith has been told to find another club, then the Players Comittee leaders would have all gone.

To be fair, Gervinho has been linked with Newcastle a lot over the last couple of weeks, supposedly Newcastle chiefs met with Gervinho when they went over there to confirm the Cabaye deal. You might make yourself look a bit stupid if they do sign him...stranger things have happened.

As I said in another tread. I will eat a very large hat if Gervinho goes to Newcastle.
He has a host of Champions League clubs after him and jordi's thinks he will snub them all for Newcastle? Only non champs league club I can see him going to is Liverpool.

Except Gervinho's met with one of our representatives and the Lorient chairman has talked about only accepting straight up cash; something only we can offer and Valencia can't.
And no other club has bid for Gervinho.

Liverpool had met with Marveuax and his representitives, brought him to the ground for a game etc..Doesnt mean we are signing him thou.
Loic Remy was at Stokes training ground last year for a walk around. He didnt sign for Stoke.
Nothing is stopping you from bidding for him. Am not saying you dont have the money.
But for reasons stated above.....not a chance.

Well he has just won the French league and now he's in the Champions League next season.
So why would he leave Lille and not play in the champions League when he can go to Newcastle and play in the League cup.

Because it's Premier League football. Premiership is the most famous league in the world. Even if he sees it as a stepping stone to get himself noticed, I'd rather have him for 2 or 3 seasons than none at all.

Newcastle are one of the most famous teams in the world though. I really don't think it's that far-fetched. Especially as there doesn't seem to be huge amounts of interest from the usual big names.

SOF- the year before last newcastle were still ranked as one of the top 20 richest in the world. We've got a fantastic stadium and the culture up in Newcastle for football is brilliant. Like Leak said we're still one of the well-known clubs in England.
Add that we can offer improved wages and it looks like Ashley might actually try and help Pardew push for the Europa League next season.
I might be a bit hopeful, but I don't see how Gervinho is unrealistic.

Well as I keep on being reminded, most of these top european playerswont come to Liverpool because we cant offer European football.
Am sure Liverpool have a better standing in Football then Newcastle. And I cant see him coming to us even thou we are interested.
Cant see him going to Newcastle either. Taking a giant leap back wards?

But other teams aren't interested Soldier. That's the point, of course if it was a direct choice between Newcastle and a top team, he's more likely to pick the top team, but if Newcastle are offering him a way into the Premiership, a well known club with a big fan base, who will give him first team football and maybe even a build a team around him. I can't see why that wouldn't be an attractive option.
