Hopefully they invest in a good undercard or this will be the first Mayweather fight since Ortiz that I won't be staying up for. More interest in Lee v Saunders than this.
I class myself as a Mayweather fan but this just doesn't have it for me. Floyd can fight anyone and it'll still be big and he's earned an easier fight but Berto is as bad as he could have picked and still put it on ppv. Rubbish.

What a Poopie fight. Berto is ranked #22 in the world, lost 3 of his last 6 and a disgraced drugs cheat. Mayweather is 100/1 on with some bookies what sort of PPV is that.

Undercard is Groves vs Jack world title shot along with rematch of Salido vs Martinez.
I'm happy with that card. Good nights boxing.

Must be feeling his age, but still has one fight left on his contract to fulfill.
Think maybe Khan will be next for fight number 50 as pretty much low risk.

To be fair, come next May when/if FM fights again, he will be 9 months away from his 40th. If he had the same confidence in himself as he did at 30, I don't think he would be fighting Berto next.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
If people are willing to buy Floyd's PPVs - usually low risk affairs such as Ortiz, Guerrero, Maidana etc. - then you can't complain about this one. In buying those types of fights you're complicit in this type of matchmaking.
I'm actually fine with this. At least there won't be the usual pretence he could actually lose - or that he even faces a challenge - throughout the (thankfully short) build up.
I'll brace myself for the eulogies on Sep 13th.

You've got to give Berto's agent respect. Has anyone ever gotten a less deserving fighter more big purse events?

Haymon. If you put Berto, Ward and Bradley on the same card in the US, they wouldn't sell out a leisure centre.

Well done Floyd. You've had a good career, enjoy your testimonial and your retirement.

Groves world title shot on the undercard. I hope Sky pick it up for that alone.

I would rather he retire than fight gimmes. It's not like he will try and force a stoppage over his clearly inferior opponent.
It will be Guererro all over again. Least back then Robert had a ranking and wasn't on a bad streak.
I will probably watch, but I won't be sitting up to 5.00 for this garbage, unless there is a cracker of an undercard.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
Couldn't really care less what Mayweather does. Pointless fight, even the best undercard of recent years wouldn't entail me doing anything other than watching them on YouTube the next morning. And I still wouldn't bother watching a re-run of the main event.
Still every cloud in that he overlooked the gobsh*te Khan. Perhaps he should look up "pot kettle black" surrounding the way Brook has been baying him to get it on in the ring and kept getting knocked back for not "deserving" a fight with him.
This fight is everything that is wrong with boxing. Effing TV companies are to blame as well as they had the power to simply laugh and tell him to go find a proper opponent rather than this joke who hasn't done anything for years.

Agree about Khan. He has been cherry picking like f..k in recent years and doing to much slabbering.
Hope he lands the Pacman fight and gets ktfo.

Seriously? Why do you think that?
The Pacquiao fight left a sour taste on people's mouths. I doubt many fans are going to fork out a large sum, to see Mayweather spar with a nobody. (no disrespet to Berto but he hasn't been good recently)

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
The Guerrero fight went over a million, or at least close depending on who you believe. Guerrero had half the chance Berto does, and Berto has a mouth. Mayweather sells a lot of the PPV by himself, and with it potentially being his last people will get involved.
People always say the 'sour taste' thing after PPVs and buy the next one.

I will be suprised if it reaches a million. There will need to be a lot of pre fight hype.

I think Guerrero did 850,000 buys and Maidana 1 did 900,000.
Maidana was a bigger fight than Berto, considering he just beat the overrated Broner.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
Naw he will fight Pacquiao in May, then bow out.
Perhaps he will try and fight more offense against his lowly opponent. After he beats the snot out of Berto, he will proclaim that he is willing to give Manny a rematch and will stop him this time.
Manny fans will buy into the shoulder injury and Floyd fans will think, Floyd will be more aggressive because he will have Pacquiao figured out.
What will really happen, is another sparring session with little action and the fight will still do around 2.5-3 million ppvs. Floyd will want 70% of the cut and will most likely bag another 100 million plus, then retire 50-0 after both guys put us to sleep.

Just wait, he'll go down the D4 route of championing Berto as some sort of worldbeater and will end the post with "I fancy Berto, Berto UD".

Berto to win. Mayweather secures his place in the top 3 atg p4p if he turns back the clock and pulls off the miracle."

Also feverishly looking forwards to his "Mayweather vs Berto 10 point comparison" in which the undoubted highlight will be "Berto has the same number of characters as Judah, and we all know how much hell he gave FMJ".

Usual post-argument from Truss and yet fails to realise the difference in that Mayweather on PPV costs people a bomb and his record of choosing the best oppo around isn't exactly bulletproof.
Unless of course GGG is a $60 PPV fighter every time he fights and is P4P #1.
Wonder which response I'll get. I'm going for "go away" i.e. "I have no comeback".

I think it's a Berto like wilder v Fury is a stinker of a fight.......But everybody is having them and when you beat the P4P number 3 you're entitled to an opponent of your choice......
