Who will win it then?
Montreal Masters
First topic message reminder :
Started yesterday. Who's going to win it then?
Federer not playing. I voted for Djokovic.
Order of play here. Kyrgios v Verdasco looks interesting.

Re: Montreal Masters
Tennis is in such a weak era at the moment. Djokovic just being handed tournaments on a plate. No 2 is a 34 year old sustained only by past glories and a terribly weak chasing pack. Now we find out the guy who beat Djokovic at the French is having a premature midlife crisis and going from a 40 year old wife to bedding a 19 year old. I just hope Lendl can beat Dimitrov into shape and the authorities see sense with respect to the uniformly slow court conditions. Anything to get tennis out of this slump.

This season!??!socal1976 wrote:I honestly believe Murray is going to win this match based on current form. Murray I feel has been better and more consistent in this tournament plus Novak has a bit of an arm injury. I feel like Novak playing and making a deep run in doubles also breaks up his recovery and rest schedule this week. To me Djokovic has looked rusty this season.
As in 2015!??!

Re: Montreal Masters
Novak not playing his best tennis here but as usual when it matters he can always up his level.
I'm one of those who predicted a Murray win the last few times they met, based on how well Murray played the earlier rounds and how not so well Novak played. Yet, each time, it's Novak who emerged as the winner! Hopefully this time a Murray win is for real, if not I really don't know when and how Murray is going to beat Novak.

Come on gg that's a bit naughty... what has this got to do with the price of fish !!!???
The man is 30 years old he is not middle aged and not the first to have
a young girl friend.
Make your point about a weak period in tennis and I agree with you
Novak doesn't even have to get out of bed in the morning let alone get in it

Re: Montreal Masters
Djoko today has made his usual pre-match loss spare reason, complaining that its tough to play with his "injured hand", though he did play the doubles match less then 2 hours after the singles match.
Kokkinakis, being another Greek junk personality (about same value as Greek Gov. bonds) like his other greek friend Gyros Korgi, should of been decked by Harrison.

Breaking news: If the HE says IN, does not matter if the HE shows the ball IN totally on the other side of the T, umpire says to Djoko then we go with the word IN.

In but on the wrong T side, umpire in a sense saying that the ball is IN by HE measure, even thought sometimes it might show wrong line.

Re: Montreal Masters
Well, we will have to agree to disagree. The very outside of the ball was in line with the centre service line - hence in.
Murray not doing well enough with the returns on the two break points. Playing perfect tennis to beat Novak though. Moving forward whenever possible.

Ball was IN but on the other side of the service line, hence Djoko complaning to umpire and Fleming saying that cant be in?

LK, stop spreading FUD
Andy 4:1 up
Fleming with good advice for Andy: its worth it a few DF to keep pace on second serve in big moments.

Re: Montreal Masters
Is it just me or is Murray hitting his shots quickly. By this I mean he seems to be returning his shots with greater pace (not necessarily on the ball) but I mean time-wise which is not allowing Novak so much time to set himself?

Re: Montreal Masters
Not watching but dipping in and out of the commentary. It's going as I kind thought it would.
There have been plenty of times this year when Novak has been below his best but wriggled off the hook. I didn't think Andy would let that happen if he got his chance today.

Re: Montreal Masters
What's the point in working so hard for the first set only to bot really turn up at the start of the 2nd? It was obvious Novak would come out firing. Murray instead has gone flat.

The reason he has 2 slams and Nole has 9. He lacks their killer instinct, and sort of goes away when hes up

Re: Montreal Masters
Between sets (or probably not by the time I post), I'll point out that is NOT right.YvonneT wrote:So prior to any Cincy points being added (and last year's already off as mentioned above), the possible gaps between Federer & Murray (and scenarios for second seed at US Open) are:
Murray loses in Montreal SF: Fed 45 ahead (RF 8065, AM 8020)
Fed stays no.2 by matching Murray or better; if Murray goes a round better (at any stage) he gets no.2.
Murray loses in Montreal F: Murray 195 ahead (RF 8065, AM 8260)
Murray keeps no.2 by matching Federer or better; if Federer beats Murray in SF, he regains no.2. Too tired to look at other scenarios of Fed bettering Murray (since it might be redundant in a few hours!)
Murray wins Montreal: Murray 595 ahead (RF 8065, AM 8660)
Fed regains no.2 if he wins Cincy; all other scenarios Murray keeps no.2.
I think I have that right, but haven't checked my workings out!
Murray currently has 7 non-mandatory counters, because only 8 Masters are counting this week. So after next week, when the Cincy points are on, he'll have to drop 180 points. So if he loses this set, he's only 15 ahead, and 415 ahead if he wins it - giving Federer more options to regain no.2 than in my original post.
