Another pathetic night at Anfield then. Really feel for the fans who paid for tickets to watch it.

It was quite clear no manager wanted the job at Newcastle, hence why you were lumbered with McClaren. A few months on, the situation has got worse & looks even more unappealing. Don't see Ashley sacking him, as the alternatives are probably even dire.

Rodgers might be available in a week or two. Although I wouldn't wish him on any team...

3-0!
I expected Wednesday to get through - little bit irritated that I bet on the 4/1 that Wednesday would 'qualify', not the 7/1 that they would win in 90 minutes!

I can't remember the last time we won a pen shootout. Think maybe a JPT round like 5 years ago

And the wait goes on - pretty much the worst outcome losing on pens - tired legs all round

Imagine playing 120 minutes, and penaltys only to lose with a long trip home.
Delighted were out.
Absolute scenes tonight though. Great work Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke!

Worst attempt at trying to regain your player of the year award goes to Eden Hazard

Re: Capital One Cup Semi Final Draw
Maybe Arsenal should give up on all the cups and focus on the premiership. With Chelsea non-competitive this year for the title, what better opportunity has Wenger of winning another premiership title before he takes his pension? Man United are still building - I think it could be a two horse race between Man City and Arsenal. It has been said that in recent years Arsenal are just not strong enough nor tough enough to maintain a challenge throughout a season.

We need to win tonight, just to get some confidence.
Be interesting to see what team McDonald puts out tonight.
Need to get new manager in asap.

Hazard was actually pretty good last night. A penalty miss shouldn't mar that.

Liverpool look set to start with several youngsters tonight, aswell as being spear headed by that goal machine Origi....

Jurgen may play Firminho up top instead of Origi. Could even try two up top as the lad needs all the help he can get. Wouldn't surprise me if this went to pens (and we lost)lfc91 wrote:Liverpool look set to start with several youngsters tonight, aswell as being spear headed by that goal machine Origi....

Re: Capital One Cup Semi Final Draw
Yeah pens is the most likely result considering the amount we have drawn lately!(think it's something like 8/9 games).

Guzan
Hutton Clark Crespo Amavi Richardson Bacuna Westwood Sanchez
Gabby Gestede.
Subs.
Bunn
Okore Sinclair Veretout Ayew Gil Grealish.
KM not taking this game seriously.
Obviously want to concentrate on the league.
Very defensive team.
Just hope we are still in the game around 70 minute mark and the subs have an impact.
Good to see Okore back.

Rooney playing so poorly i'm starting to think we'd be better off playing with ten men.

Right now, hes not PL standard.
Rather worryingly, tonight's opponents are probably closer to it too.

10 men for four more years, while draining £250k. Enjoy

Re: Capital One Cup Semi Final Draw
Well, Utd have been one of those teams we get shock results against now and again and it is just typical Boro that we up our game for a cup tie against one of the PL big boys.
We'll probably go and lose at home to Charlton now...
Still - a home tie against Everton in the QFs Given they just squeaked past Norwich at home on penalties, I kinda fancy us to make the semis now.

went to city and boro game and not seen a goal in 210 minutes, safe to say i wont be wasting much more of my money on lvg uniteds. its shockingly poor to watch. rather get p!ssed in the pub where at least i can get distracted

Astonishing the lack of commitment to the league cup, for a club, that hasn't won a trophy in years. Not winning a trophy this season + with the increased negativity around his style or philosophy, will probably see his tenure ended one year early. Get Giggs in & bring the excitement back. It's dire, dire football

Sadly for the League Cup it's a competition no one cares about till the semi finals.

Re: Capital One Cup Semi Final Draw
I was at the Bournemouth game and I thought Liverpool did quietly well, I was a bit worried after the Arsenal game when I saw how many youngsters were starting, but all did pretty well, Texeira has got a lot of catching up to do because of his injuries but looked confident and eager to get involved. The only problem I see is that he's too similar to Coutinho and with Lallana, Firminio, Sturridge, Henderson etc. I can't see him getting much game time. Origi had his best game, but doesn't look like a centre forward right now, it's hard to judge whether you keep playing him centrally to let him develop there or just cut your losses and say he's going to be a better winger. Firminio was the best player on the pitch and with a decent run of games think he could be a real gem. It's also good to be able to rely on their back up keeper, Brad Jones was atrocious, Bogdan at least looks like he can catch the ball!

Dreadful from Can to leave the crosser open like that, Moreno didn't do brilliantly but that cross should never have been allowed to come in so easily.

southamptons keeper having a mare, two goals he should have saved, blaming it on a onside player getting in his way

Re: Capital One Cup Semi Final Draw
Good goal.
The difference between Rodgers and Klopp is most noticeable in Liverpool coming back. I hated ever conceding a goal under Rodgers as it felt like the team never really got back, or as soon as they scored a goal they would be too happy to sit back. Under Klopp it's become a lot more common to come back and to score soon after scoring as well. I would say obviously that the 13/14 season was an exception, I don't know what Rodgers did that year but the season before and the seasons afterwards we excruciating for Liverpool struggling to come back from a goal down.

Second goal though Paul
Another really good goal from Ibe.
A fantastic performance, especially with a slightly weakened side against basically Southampton's strongest.
