Well I will try to make use of the many 'un-popular' players whilst we have them and as Jahu is in a whole league of his own in the lewd stakes I felt he deserved a mention

I think there are a few potential upsets today...
Darcis v Baghdatis, Young v Simon, Zverev v Kohlscreiber, Bedene v Gulbis, Nedovyesov v Hewitt. All are odds against.

14wins in a row I think for Konta. Will rise into the 70's, her highest ever ranking.

The Colonel 3-0 up 1st set; very much hoping he can make it through to play Federer.

If you think the 2 Mayers are confusing at least they have the common decency to have a different first name.
Unlike João Sousa (Portugal) and João Souza (Brasil) who could not be bothered to make that kind of effort for tennis fans. At least one of them has an s and the other a z, and one of them is from Portugal and the other from Brazil. They also help further by being average journeyman that have already gotten on the plane home, for which I will forgive them since they have minimized further confusion. Since if they both got to say the quarter final there would be confused hilarity in TV studios and radio stations globally.

Mayer seems to have come into this angry and followed it up with defeatist suicidal play. Someone must have told him to hit the cover off the ball every shot.

Seems to be a lot of retirals in the Mens Singles so far including Monfils, Dolgopolov, Gulbis and Kokkinakis.

Yes, 9 retirements on the men's side - must be very frustrating for the lucky loser hopefuls. Since the prize money for first round losers started going up significantly, it seems like withdrawals have become much rarer (not that all these retirement could/should have been withdrawals - doesn't really apply to retirement due to falls or fifth set cramping).

Decent performances by the youngsters today - Kokkinakis, Zverev and Rublev all putting up good fights against tough opposition. Great to see Nishioka tough out a 5 setter and it looks like Chung will win easily.
Stan appears to be on cruise control - down a break in each of the first two sets before turning it around to lead 75 64.

Muzz makes it 2 sets to love. Really good stuff. Nick though, twice at deuce, goes for one, a between the legs half volley, and two a leaping 100 mph forehand... he didnt break needless to say

Just got home thinking the match might be over by now, but little Nick is making at least a bit of a match of it.
I only saw one game so far - the one where Nick just broke to love - and in that one game at least Nick was far the superior player.

Good win for Andy. It's actually refreshing to see quite a tough opener. I think more of these would certainly balance the field slightly.
Shame about Robbo, being a double break up in the final set. Gave a good account of herself and I hope she plays her way back into form again after injury. If it is any consolation to her I want to throat punch Vesnina!

Impressive from Andy. Frustrating that he has had such a tough match so early but that's the way the draw goes at times. Hopefully, he can now build his way into the tournament.

Yvonne, the media just do not know when to stop. They just love standing by the courtside during the match, chatting away and annoyinig the spectators during the match, trying to show HD close ups of people in the crowd just trying to watch the match, shoving the cameras into the players private areas as they walk down the tunnel. Ugh, It's all a steady slippage. I hope someone fights back.

Re: US Open Day 2 - Will Murray Sock It To Nick Or Will Jahu Get His Kokk Out And Ram Him?
First set I thought Kyrgios was hitting really solidly and accurately. Looked like a player who is due into at least the top 20 any day now. Playing well. Then, at some point, perhaps around the beginning of set 2, his self belief seemed to evaporate a bit as if he realized that even at his best he was simply not as good as his opponent, and wouldn't win.
He has his moments; notably when he jumped into the area with both feet as if to crash one of those DTL double handed backhands where you put the whole body into it, but it was actually a dummy before playing a drop shot. He is a good player, and he has mental strength for the big points I think, but I think he lacks focus. Maybe he knows his game isn't there yet. Maybe the focus will tighten up when he sees he can actually win a slam.
Other worrying thing for Krygios was then whenever he got a break he surrended his own serve in the next game.
Murray looking solid to me.

Years ago on court interviews were only for occassions like a final or when someone was retiring. That's how it should be for me. No-one says anything interesting anyone so save it for the presser.
