Tough fixture this for Glasgow. I think another home defeat is on the cards.

It doesn't get any easier for Glasgow. I'm not saying if they lose this they will be out of contention, but they do have Munster A after this so could find themselves 0 from 3.

Excellent. So apparently there's no point in Glasgow fans watching any of the other matches this season.
Let's all go for drinks then.

I would like to see Bulumaku get a game this week, he's looked good so far in pre-season and would provide more potentially than Jones who just isn't physical enough to contribute much in attack and there must be some doubt as to whether Big Tacky will actually be joining at all now.

Perhaps just watch Edinburgh instead. Proper rugby team.

One bad performance for Glasgow and they're staring into the abyss.RDW_Scotland wrote:George Carlin wrote:Excellent. So apparently there's no point in Glasgow fans watching any of the other matches this season.

One good performance for Edinburgh and they seem to already have won the league.

Getting a bit touchy GC!
You’ll notice that all I said is that if Glasgow lose this they could be staring at 0 from 3 given they have Munster away next…

Lot of the Glasgow side away representin', who team would you expect to see? Connacht have a few injuries in the backs, but should be pretty strong upfront. Only Henshaw and White away with ireland. The maul as with last season has been a big weapon, so i'd expect to see lots of that and set-plays off it.

When is the Glasgow team announced? Which continent is Big Tacky in today? How many times will the Tombola make me say, "Whit???"

Blair and Clegg will hopefully control the game much better - especially since they should know each other well from Newcastle (and the fact that they aren't Hart and Wight!)

Anyone got any idea where Tacky is? Hope the lad's not stranded at Glasgow airport waiting on a lift. If anyone sees a 6ft5 Fijian at Gilmour Street gonna give him a ride to Scotstoun. Note: must own convertible or car with sun-roof.

As far as I'm aware there's no more Barbarians / World Xv / Anyone but Glasgow games coming up so he really should be arriving in Glasgow.
If he doesn't come soon I don't think we're going to see him at all.
It's all good though - Glasgow have Lee Jones!

In some ways, this could all work out well for Glasgow.
If they accept that they might have to settle for, say, 4th place and not 1st again by the time of the play-offs, might they be better able to focus on the Heineken cup (or whatever it's called)?

An update on Big T
Scotsman wrote:GLASGOW Warriors coach Gregor Townsend says he is hopeful of having his major signing of the summer, freshly-capped Australia wing Taqele Naiyaravoro, in Scotland and available for the Guinness Pro12 match away to Munster on 2 October.
The powerful Fiji-born former Waratah wing came off the bench in the 71st minute to make his debut for the Wallabies in the United States last weekend and scored a try two minutes before the end of the 47-10 win. He has not, however, been included in coach Michael Cheika’s World Cup squad and is now due to head to Glasgow, for whom he signed a three-year contract in May.
“We are still waiting for the visa process to be started,” said Townsend. “He’s now back in Australia after being out in the States with the Australia squad but he’s come back early to speed up the visa process now he is no longer with the Australia squad.
“These things can take two or three weeks. I’m hoping for less. We have a game in three weeks against Munster and it would be great news if we could have him for that. Then the next game is a fortnight after so if not Munster then we’d like to think he’d be here for that one.”

It sounds to me as if Big Tacky is bunkering down in OZ. Toonie seems to be going through the motions of keeping the door open/ acting in good faih. It all smells as if we're in the endgame and all that remains is for m'learned freinds to sort out compensation and their fees.
But how can monetary gain compensate Tacky for missing out on the chance of living in Glasgow, and sharing a shower with Shrek?

"Ah, Watson. Once we have eliminated the impossible whatever is left, no matter how improbable, must be the solution to the case."
If the big fella intended to come over for the start of the season, as his contract stated according to Toonie's earlier comments, then the visa process would have had to have started months ago. Since no-one at the OZ end seems to have made any effort to start the visa process the logical deduction would be that he never intended to come over once the Wallabies convinced him he had a future with them.
AT this point RDW, in your role as bumbling sidekick you post something along the lines of " Gosh Holmes, you really are awfy smart an that.

I'm travelling up to the Boks game at Noocassell. On the eight o'clock from Kings Cross with a very loud Bokkie mate of mine. Just noticed yesterday that there were £20 tickets available at Elland Road for the USA game. That's drivable for a day trip. Weighin up whether MrsPip would consider it abridge too far.

Think the SRU & Glasgow need to really consider whether this is going to be a worthwhile signing, presumably a lot of money that could possibly be better spent on developing or attracting some SQ talent from elsewhere; Super Rugby or Rugby League. He's probably not too motivated to come over now that he's an Australian international (and in any case wasn't he thought of as a 'project player' by the SRU?).

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Connacht, 11 September
Presumably Glasgow/SRU aren't paying him that much. Before he signed he wasn't an international player, so his wage shouldn't be crazy. I could be wrong, and yeah it's a hassle to get him over, but I can't imagine his signing will stop the SRU from looking at developing other players.
