Of course. Keep trying but "we always back ourselves at home."

No, I was sipping my Lucozade .
EDIT* Moral victory for Robshaw. He's more handsome than our captain .

Yeah, key decisions, or at least executions went awry. Hopefully we see the Wigglesworth of the Fiji game rather than the guy who gave your backs something to run on to and Barritt does what he says on the tin rather than fluffing tackles out wide. They'll have taken a long look at themselves as no doubt but the team has finished strongly in the past and will again. Hopefully by then we'll be cruising rather than me biting my nails down to the knuckle.

Why do you think that's so odd? If anything, it's hedging, since most teams in most sports just say "We always back ourselves to win".mikey_dragon wrote:WELL-PAST-IT wrote:

Do you think " We never back ourselves to win" or "We sometimes back ourselves to win" are more common expressions?

Yeah, maybe it was. To tell you the truth, rodders, I don't remember the detail, just the quote.
It was the time we used to use Saunas for the boys coming in from a tough physical game to help them recover quicker. Not sure we still do that, but it was cutting edge science at the time. Maybe Eddie's time.

You're trying to stall a successful Franchise??? Look, kid, this is going to outdo Fast and Furious. Don't step in the way or you'll get run down. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 20, 22 and 23 to come.

You lost to Wales at home in your world cup. Evidently a fair few of you are going to need constant reminder of that until you show some respect and begin to show graciousness in defeat .

After Breadvan and Dragon's gloating comments I will be the first on here to wave goodbye to Wales if England win tonight. Fiji were robbed they are only still in it because of several iffy referee decisions. They were well outplayed by Fiji in the second half.

It may be true that most English fans were gracious in defeat. It may also be true that most Wales fans were ungracious in winning. See Breadvan and Dragon comments above if you haven't already. Cuts both ways.

That's because a lot of them lost their WiFi and didn't get it back until a few days later... I haven't seen any Wales fans on here not be gracious if I'm honest. Oh and there's englandglory4eva who is a unique poster...probably goes by the name of Danny Cipriani in the real world .

If England didn't have several iffy decisions go their way last Saturday I truly believe they wouldn't have got within 10 points of Wales.

One of my mates said the only way a crocked half baked side like Wales could beat England was if the ref helped them! I blame Barritt myself.

I think it has been well commented that when a squad lose some of their most influential players it galvanises the squad to play at a level above what is expected of them.

Some of the ones who accused Maesteg of doing that; BigTrevsBigMac, Cyril, Beshocked, Well-Past-It. In recent discussions these awful lot have also brought up Gethin Jenkins and accused him of being a cheat. They've all gone really quiet on the matter after witnessing Marler and Cole do the same thing. I said at the time of Wales' great victory that it all brought a smile to my face .

So you weren't clutching at straws in Feb then? This attitude is akin to the English philosophy that only Wales would try and cheat in the scrum. All been debunked now, of course. Was never in doubt for the smarter folk such as myself though.

The conversation came up in recent weeks before the world cup, and I was surprised to be reading it so long after that match (2014). If I post responses that disagrees with yours and their views it is dismissed as ignorance? I find that typical of a few posters on here, not just English ones before I also get accused of being anti-English; I'm actually supporting your lads tonight because I would prefer Aus to go out in the pool stages.
And yes, okay..

Re: England v Wales - 12th March 2016
You haven't named me, and I've never accused Jenkins of being a cheat. However, I'm happy to say that he's often scrummaged illegally. The fact he once picked up three yellow cards in six tests suggests referees agree. It wasn't an issue during England's defeat last week, so there was nothing to bring up.mikey_dragon wrote:...In recent discussions these awful lot have also brought up Gethin Jenkins and accused him of being a cheat...

It looked suspicious to me during the game, then Marler was brought up by several ex-players and referees in the aftermath. And no Rugby Fan, I don't remember your name but we may have discussed it.

Re: England v Wales - 12th March 2016
I'm happy to entertain the idea that Marler scrummages illegally. To date, though, referees haven't pulled him up, so he's either getting away with it, or - as Brian Moore maintains - he isn't doing anything noteworthy.mikey_dragon wrote:It looked suspicious to me during the game, then Marler was brought up by several ex-players and referees in the aftermath. He's in the spotlight now, though, and if he gets a run of yellow cards to match Jenkins, then that would certainly suggest he's on the wrong side of the law. If not, then his critics might not have a case.

Hard lines mate.
Shall I dig up posts by English people, saying things like "the group of death is looking less deadly now", when 1/2p and Webb were ruled out? There are bad apples on both sides.
Talking about well outplayed second half. Least we have the shorter gap between games to blame.
