I may be Irish but I am fuming at the Welsh here, perfect chance with two men missing from the Aussie defensive line and yet try to force it through the forwards. Totally deserve to lose from here.

Defending like that takes it out of you. Wales need to tear it up in this last 10 minutes. Try and penalty needed.

Just how crucial was that passage of play jeez, fantastic character by Aus. Still can't believe we didn't use the 2 man advantage.

We know Australia are good, but a team that can't take advantage of 13 man opposition doesn't really deserve to be in the Quarter finals...
It's going to get worse with Hook and Priestland on.

Still can't believe we didn't score, then we go and give away a cheap penalty under our post.
And Liam Williams limps off...perfect.
Biggar off, Gatland has given up on this game then.

Can understand why they didn't want to risk the interception or grubber but loads of space was there to be exploited and the one-pass rugby was too predictable

Not sure mate. With our potential injury list Scotland might see a chink in our armour... if we can hold on.
Thanks for your ref, btw. and the TMO "no tly" bloke up in the box.

Re: Australia vs Wales RWC Pool A 10th October
Scrum capitulation and some awful decision making (scrum rather than lineout) has cost us this game.
Not helped by Jouberts pathetic decision making during those 10 minute on the Aus line (no advantage from either time the Aus scrum imploded)

Disappointing not to top the group, but not as disappointing to be out of the world cup and latching on to other teams. Not sure why people are so convinced we'll get demolished by SA either, they're beatable.

Collapsing the scrum and lineouts multiple times on your own line isn't a penalty try, but clearly a knock on near the 22m line is....

Honestly, I think Wales can take a lot of heart from this. Noone was giving you a chance during the week, you stopped a very potent Australia scoring a try, and were unlucky not to get more when Oz went down to 13. SA won't be looking past you lot.

Some valiant Aussie defending but Wales are truly clueless in attack.
You get the feeling it would have been a larger margin if Folau hadn't been hobbling through most of the game.
You've got to feel a bit sorry for Cuthbert. He gets worse and worse with every performance. If you could score an 'own try' in rugby he would manage it!

Fantastic game - so much commitment from both sides.
Defending with 2 men in the bin like that was just phenomenal.
Credit to Wales - their defence was equally solid but for the soft penalties that cost them the game.

Re: Australia vs Wales RWC Pool A 10th October
Such a missed chance for Wales. Warburton's captaincy has to be called into question here. How can you have a 2 man advantage (in the defensive backline) and still fail to ship it wide where you had numbers and score a try. Clueless decision making during that period cost Wales dearly.
Still think that they will give SA a very good game and not sure if SA are such a power to beat Wales. That will be a very good match.

Great win for Australia. Wales looked good but could not score when they was 2 men up and camped in the Australian line for 10 minutes.
Gatland will not be happy about Wales not able to score when in the Australian half and being 2 men up as well.
But no doubt Australia was truly the better side.
Well done Wales for putting up a brave fight.

Well done Australia. Guts and determination in defence when down to 13 men and camped in redzone.
Wales blew this, how did they not take advantage of that situation?
It seems they have a mental block against Australia, how else do you explain it?
Poor decidion making and poor game management.

How is Warburton at fault for the backs decision-making? We kept it tight as long as we could and nothing came of it. Warburton has had a fantastic tournament.

Re: Australia vs Wales RWC Pool A 10th October
Hard luck to Wales, kept what has been the best attacking team in the competition so far honest for a very long time. I don't know what can be done, but the scrum is an obvious target for teams playing against you, and particularly when Jarvis and Francis came on. If you are going to beat SA, you'll need a good cushion by the 65 minutes mark, because that new front row is going to cost you points. Also hope Liam Williams is OK, but didn't look good.
