Nice try. Can't blame Cuthbert as he had to try to stop the offload

Well, maybe the commentators were wrong about that then. Thats why they had said he was coming off.

If he needs a head injury assessment, he needs one. Never the wrong call to make sure a player isn't playing through concussion.
Ah that's heartbreaking for Wales. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I didn't se that he needed a HIA. If he did why is he sitting in the stands with the rest of the team and not getting assessed?
Because there isn't enough time for an assessment and then to come back on

I don't think Gatland would even disagree with you, privately. It's taken injuries for half the backs in Wales to get him in there.
It's so frustrating because he's big, he's fast, he's strong- he has so much potential but isn't delivering on it.

Absolutely gutted for Wales. What a match only to come just short. Cant see SA progressing past the SF though as they are not looking that good.

If Pollard was playing well SA would have won that by 20. Fair play to Wales for keeping in it but they just came up short in the end.

I'm not surprised we lost, I was just hoping Wales would make a good fight of it and we did. South Africa rallied in the second half and over powered us.
Best of luck to Biltong and all the other South Africa fans in the semi's you were a bit better today.

Agree. Barnes was not the problem.
Problem was discipline, poor kicking from hand and Cuthbert.

Harsh way to lose for Wales, they've done very well in this World Cup when you take into account all the injuries they've had.
Congrats to S.A. they have really turned things around after losing their opening match.

Gutting for the Welsh, fighting until the bitter end as they always do. It is so frustrating that they can't finish these games.
Biltong - I think you may be right about Vermeulen being the top dog in his position. I always rated him of course but today he was exceptional in every area of the game, one of the best performances I have seen from an eighth-man. Monstrous performance from him (as well as Burger).

MOTM is Vermeulen surely? Everything SA did well was off the back of him. If not the it's probably Wayne Barnes for giving SA the breakdown .

Thanks mate, Wales played really well, they controlled the aerial battle and almost made us pay for it, their defense was again immense, just happy there were no cards and a clean game.
Commesserations again to the Welsh, your team made you proud today.

Re: QF1: South Africa v Wales, 17 October
Well first of all well played Wales you did really well, but South Africa was too power full in the second half. Dan Biggar was out standing for Wales, did Cuthbert cost Wales the game by not staying out on his wing?
Well played South Africa, i thought at one time Wales was going to win the game, but you showed why you have been the third best team in the World for so long.
A great game i must admit, and a closure game than i thought it would be. So well played both teams for a fantastic game. And very bad luck to Wales.

Highlighted the inconsistency much earlier in the thread as did others. Well done SA.
RE your bet, what were the odds for SANZAR 3 - 1 6N (Ire)? I think that's more likely to come off.

Thought Barnes had an excellent game. Possibly the best ref going at the moment with Owens seeming to have lost it a bit recently.
Barnes is an excellent communicator and doesn't get bossed by scrum halves.

Haha. Not taking anything away from SA. As Meyer would say, they "proved why they're the Springboks" or something along those lines. They kept going at it fair play, and it payed off when it mattered.
Commentary team on itv Wales were just laying into Cuthbert a bit...

utterly gutting for wales. I was genuinely rooting for you at the end. If only cuthbert had either stayed on wing or put a proper smash of a tackle in to stop the easy offload.
You showed us english what heart is. true shame you are out.

For the record in talking about the decision to award the scrum to south Africa when they were all over the ball on the floor. Should have been a penalty to Wales all day

Lets face it you was good enough to beat England. But not good enough to beat South Africa.
So Wales are out just like England are out.
You lasted one more week than we did.
So go home now and prepare for the 6ns. bye.
