The SA 7s squad has just been named and it has a number of high profile 15s players in it

Springbok Sevens training squad:

Cecil Afrika, Tim Agaba, Rayno Benjamin, Kyle Brown, Branco du Preez, Carel du Preez, Damian de Allende, Stephan Dippenaar, Chris Dry, Juan de Jongh, Justin Geduld, Warrick Gelant, Lungelo Gosa, Bryan Habana, Cornal Hendricks, Francois Hougaard, Frankie Horne, Dewald Human, Ryan Kankowski, Werner Kok, Cheslin Kolbe, Jaco Kriel, Oupa Mohoje, Lwazi Mvovo, Sibahle Maxwane, Ruhan Nel, Sandile Ngcobo, Sphamandla Ngcobo, Dylan Sage, Seabelo Senatla, Philip Snyman, Kwagga Smith, Rosco Speckman, Warren Whiteley

inc.

Damian De Allende
Juan De Jongh
Bryan Habana
Cornal Hendricks
Francois Hougaard
Ryan Kankowski
Teboho Mahoje
Lwazi Mvovo
Warren Whiteley

With chaps such as Quade Cooper, Sonny Bill Williams etc going for a spot in the olympic team do we see any chances of NH players doing a temporary switch. Guys like Tom Croft, Justin Tipuric etc would be perfect for the game. I imagine few will make the switch though.. certainly less than what we are seeing in SA

Not that Bath would allow it but Sam Burgess would be pretty awesome at 7s

Is the Olympics recogonised and sanctioned by World Rugby?  If so could Bath or any other Club/Union actually stop them if they were called up?

No, I would hope we NH types would keep all our best players and hopefully sneak a few wins in the full-size game while they have their eyes on a different prize! Smile

James Davies is perhaps more likely than Tipuric, I can't see both of them making the switch. Maybe it'll do Cuthbert some good to have a run out in the sevens too.

Cooper seems to be staying with Toulon now after they threatened legal action so he might not be available. They might be able to call on Genia and Giteau though - they'd be good at sevens.
