30 yrs on - 1985 vs Current British/Irish world champions
A little pointer to the age we are living in..and how times have changed...Looking at the list I can't see a British fighter bar Brook that has an outside chance and he'd be 6/1.............Liam Smith for me being the most outclassed.
Hagler v Andy Lee................Ouch ouch ouch ouch
McCallum v Liam Smith.............Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch
Curry v Kell Brook..............Ouch ouch
Camacho v Flanagan/Crolla........Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch
Nelson v Selby.....................Ouch ouch ouch
Lora v Haskins..................Ouch ouch ouch..
Pointless putting Matthews and Eubank on the list..
I'd make Quigg/Frampton slight favorites over Callejas...........Supermiddle was just starting and ignored back then......One alphabet had Murray Sutherland I believe so left that out too..

Careful Truss, your bitterness is showing
Whilst there is too many belts, the holders have only beaten what was in front of them, yes the stupid defences get on our nerves but it happens across the world sadly.

Do the belts actually mean anything anymore to fans???
I don't care now unless it's someone I like fighting and even then I know it doesn't mean much due tot he state of the organisations. I do kind of agree with you that we've got a lot of fringe fighters holding belts (Matthews is an interim one so can let him off) and the proliferation of them just kills it all for me

Darren Barker - "It's a great feeling knowing I held the belt Marvin hagler held".....
I guess that's the problem...............Certainly don't blame Barker and Crolla types...They are good kids....
But I am struggling to think of a fighter Hagler beat in his 12 defence reign Daniel Geale would have beaten...

Why not bring up the following
Wilder vs Holmes
Quillin vs Hagler
Bradley vs Curry
Or the host of other poor American champions out there.

You've got a good point Truss just need to include everyone in it to get it across

There isn't a single American who is the consensus number one at a weight Truss.

Not really... because there isn't a Brit on that list who hasn't been steered to the weakest option in order to win a belt..

Spin.............
Ward is 4 p4p and Crawford is 7......Both are the best in their divisions......Besides Danny Garcia is number 1 really..
Stevenson is North American as well...

Bradley, Wilder, Crawford, Jacobs, Charlo, Broner and Russell Jnr all took equally easy paths to their titles, none of them are considered to be the number one in their division.

Ward no longer fights at 168lbs nor does Garcia at Light Welterweight and Crawford has fought nobody of note at Light Welterweight or they both number one in the same division. Postol's win over Matthysse has seen him elevated to the de facto number one at the moment.

I've admitted that......
But you haven't got a single champion who has picked up a piece of pie the hard way.......Garcia...Stevo...Ward etc all beat the best..

I thought boxing/boxers improved through the generations Truss ? 30 years is a long time. How many 100m records have gone since then ?
Cheers, Rodders

Depends how you treat the dull unmotivated joke - Andre Ward.
What about Terence Crawford at LWW?
Those two aside, US barely gets a look in these days really.....
