Re: Everton FC - Furious League
Im not sure they were meant to be bench keepers Nick.
Howard was deffo 1st choice, Taibi was meant to be 1st choice but was rubbish and I think ended up losing his place to minging Mark Bosnich? Who then in turn lost his place to Barthez. Foster was brought in with a view to replace VDS but couldn't take the pressure of playing for Man Utd. Maybe now he would but at the time he struggled.

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
That's not really true is it Nick.
Taibi, Bosnich, Howard and Carroll were all brought in as first choice keepers to replace Schmeichel and weren't good enough, so ended up getting dumped on the bench.
Of the rest, Foster and Kuszczak were bought to challenge/replace VDS and neither ended up being good enough.
Goram, Ricardo and van der Gouw I will grant you were bought as back-up. Better add Tony Coton to that list as well.

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
Taibi - Was bought to contest the first team spot with Bosnich and VDG, none of the keepers had the "First team keeper" tag all were fighting for the spot.
Bosnich - More of a stop gap and not a replacement for Big Pete, only played for one season and for a kepper didn't make much appreances.
Howard - Agree should have been first team, had a decent first season but after that he was in and out of the team. No way you could call him our first team keeper.
Roy Caroll - had to fight for the first team, he was never proper first team keeper, he was also dropped a lot of times and his position as first team keeper was always in doubt.
So shut the hell up Afro and Smarts. ( I don't even know what this debate is about)

Viva you got the wrong end of the stick my son. Afro was pointing out a lot of them were brought in to be 1st choice GK, not saying they actually made it as 1st choice.

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
No your dumb Viva. A lot dumber than me and I'm sorry for that. But being bought in to be 1st team GK's and actually making it and lasting as 1st team GK is not the same thing.

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
When SAF bought these keepers they had to battle it out between each other. If you look at Bosnich he didn't make as much apps as a keeper normally does, neither did Howard 32 apps most and Caroll too. Which means they were bought in with the POTENTIAL to become our first team keeper not bought in as numbers 1 stamped  They had competition against others, I don't know if you remember but SAF said VDG could become our first team keeper after Great Dane left.
But ok you know everything like you said Man Utd boy top top class players  fool

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
Actually I didn't say they buy top top class players when we originally had that discussion. I said I believed they would buy top class players this summer after being shown they were boys against men against Barcelona lol.
Barcelona v Man Utd = Men against boys
Martin Keown V Ruud Van Nistelrooy = Men against boys
Cesc Fabregas & a Pizza v Old Red Nose Fergie = Men against boys
Smartest v Viva = Men against girls

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
The question was how well SAF judged keepers. Not whether he bought good keepers suitable for a starting XI position straight away.
Your point that he bought them as potential number 1s and so many of them failed suggest he picking keepers isn't a strength.
Nick - just PM'd you. Would appreciate it if you could sort it asap.

Wojciech Szczęsny > DeGea :-P And cost about 1/20th of the price!
"In that time how many titles did Wenger win and Ferguson?"
Thats not how you compare managers Viva, you can only compare them on a level playing field. Same funds etc and on a level playing field Wenger would demolish Fergie on the next level mohahaha.
Oh how I would have loved to be there to see Fergies face when Pizza was trickling down his glasses and Fabregas was reeling off in delight hahaha I'm smiling so much thinking about it. Fergie was loving it nearly as much as I am
Would that so called great dane your referring to be the one who joined your main rivals Man City? Lol loyalty to the maximus!!!
Barthez knew where his loyalties lay when he set Henry up for a couple of goals when we played you lol that is what I call loyalty!

How much for each of Sandro, Martinez and Wolfswinkel on loan?
Could arrange a future fee for permanent transfer too if you wish?

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
Definately interested in loaning two of them (Wolfswinkel + 1), but not sure whether to go for martinez or sandro yet. Probably depends on what happens with my Gago offer.
Would only look to loan van Wolfswinkel if I was assured of the second one too i.e. it's either both loans or no loans.

nick_fury wrote:Sandro - £2.5m loan with FF to be agreed

Only one of the above will be loaned at one time.
Wolfswinkel - £3m loan with FF of £12m.
Any loan player cannot play against the parent club.
If my squad if depleted due to injuries then I may call back any loaned player (wont happen as we only get two injuries and they las one week, just looks fancy in the agreement).
If I recieve a laywers offer more then the amount of a players value (which must be determined and agreed by us) then I am able to recall the player and do with what I wish.
Not going higher with my gago bid, so I am back to try and settle a deal with you. I would have liked Martinez on loan, but without Gago, Sandro is a bit more necessary.
How about:
Sandro - £2.5m loan with £9m FF (if and when I have funds)
Martinez - £2.5m loan with £10m FF (if and when I have funds)
If Cambiasso gets injured, you can recall Sandro for that weeks game. If Modric gets injured, you can recall Martinez for that weeks game. If both Modric and Cambiasso get injured, you get your choice of which to recall.
Wolfswinkel - £3m loan with FF of £12m

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
I think we are close to a deal then, although is it not a bit pointless agreeing a future fee if you have the option to not sell him?
The point of the FF is that you cannot turn around at the end of the season and say to me "no, I now want £20m for him or I won't sell", or he has performed well for me, so you decide you want to keep him.

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
To clarify what I am saying is does that FF mean if you decide to sell, I get first refusal at the agreed price?
i.e.
Sandro - £2.5m loan with £9m FF (Sunderland get first refusal should Spurs decide to sell)
Martinez - £2.5m loan with £10m FF (Sunderland get first refusal should Spurs decide to sell)
If Cambiasso gets injured, you can recall Sandro for that weeks game. If Modric gets injured, you can recall Martinez for that weeks game. If both Modric and Cambiasso get injured, you get your choice of which to recall.

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
I might leave it then.
I don't want to be loaning players if I cannot be sure to get them at the end of season.
I would be the one taking the chance on them improving and you would then get the benefit

That is true Smarts. Hadn't really thought about it, but I think I would have raised the extra £8m and bought Aguero (possibly the best striker in the league?).
Benzema cost more, but is no better than Bent, Suarez, Adebayor, Di Natale, Negredo, Gilardinho, Forlan

Re: Everton FC - Furious League
I got quoted £38m on Aguero, some Tinkywinky said it was his release fee so if he went for less Ill be peed !!!
Benzema is better then your face. howd your like them apples!!!
Bent - Good
Suarez - Meh, hot and cold, looks good but doesnt always delivery
Adebayor - Poopie Poopie Poopie, required 28 one on one chances to score 1 goal, cant hold his run, most offside player in the prem other season.
Di Natale - Meh, getting on, has only ever proved himself in the Serie A and only been since he joined Udinese.
Negredo - Yeah hes good, but didnt he get sold from the club that purchased Benzema?!
Gilardinho - Last seasons Furious League top goalscorer, when i got him everyone said he wasnt that good yet everyone gave him the goals. BADAMAN !!!
Forlan - Hes quality.
Aguero - Good, Young, farther in law is a man sausage fiend, but yer he could be the best striker in this league, could.
Id say top three in the l;eague, no order are: Gilardinho, Aguero and Bent
