Welcome to Season 8 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1993.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Player Draft
Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will participate in a player draft beginning the week of June 22nd. Both sides will be allowed to draft two players each. The draft picks will go as follows; 1. Worcester 2. Wasps 3. Wasps 4. Worcester.
Round Bidding
There will be two rounds of bidding. The first window will run the week starting June 29th and the second the week starting July 3rd. All sides will be allowed to sign one player each during the window. These bids are not protected if you do not have the funds in place to bid during the window you will lose the bid.
Open Bidding
From July 13th the foreign market will be open to all bids similar to previous seasons. Due to the world cup the window will remain open till the end of September.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. 2m for 5 games, 1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

End of June he is eligible.
Think George is out for the rest of the season, so might not tour - imagine it will be Taylor from Sale along wide LCD as Tom Youngs also out.

Real shame for George as he's clearly 2nd choice.
I don't think LCD is up to it personally, I'd prefer Taylor and Haywood as backups.

LCD performed
Well in the 6n.
His throwing went well
And is ever improving. Jones sees him as
A
Future star like pretty much every other coach.
Taylor always looks decent and for me has more to offer
Than Haywood who is a club player.
Taylor's move to wasps will help him
Wasps are so good at the minute and are building a great side.
Is George smith staying on for another season ?
Player
Of the year for me.

Hartley apparently might miss a lot of time too because of another bad concussion, so whoever is picked will get a pretty good run

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
Smith has signed for a Japanese club for next season. He's been so good - set up both Miller tries today, think we could walk the try of the season awards this year! We'll miss the Piutua brothers as well, both have been very good for us, Charles especially.
Our scrum has really come on, Waller got a pasting today and haven't seen that happen much this season. Player I've been most impressed with, Smith aside, is Thomas Young. He's had a brilliant season.

Pretty sure LCD only threw twice???
I just don't see what he brings bar a dodgy throw, we may has we'll have Tom Youngs.

To be fair, LCD isn't even that good of an AP hooker. I really like Haywood &Taylor

He's not though really. He's hardly setting the world alight and Yeadle is just as good.
It's not really a dig so don't understand your lol. Come back with a reasonable response if you disagree??

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
Honestly thought you were joking when you said that LCD isn't even that good of an AP hooker. This season he has come on leaps and bounds, very strong carrier and a clever player as well. His set piece was poor in terms of lineout throwing but has come on, as was shown in his display against France as that was quite a pressure situation and he handled it very well. He wouldn't be rated as highly by Jones/Borthwick if he wasn't that good an AP hooker imo.
Haywood is a very good AP player but hasn't got the one top class area that means he could step up, whilst Taylor shows promise and should hopefully do well at Wasps and get more exposure in the big games but not sure. Quite like the look of Harry Thacker at Tigers, a little small but a very mobile Schalk Brits style of player.

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
I don't think LCD stands out in the AP is what I was suggesting. He struggles to hook and his throwing is a lottery.
Taylor & Haywood have really impressed, I can see Taylor at least leapfrogging him tbh.

Not many hookers strike for the ball anymore, and LCD has improved with his throwing. No way the finished article, but is improving.
Sorry for no predictions, very busy weekend.

Agree with you Fluxy, he was very good for Exeter this weekend.
Going to be a cracking end to the season, Sarries, Exeter, Wasps all playing brilliant rugby at the moment with Tigers and Quins capable of some good games as well. Think Wasps have an easier run in than Exeter, but will be a massive game in the European Cup this weekend, be a big momentum builder for whoever wins!

I can't see on the footage where Kruis bites Wilson.
Wilson in for a stint on the sidelines though.

What was Wilson thinking there. Was the Kruis bite meant to be during the same incident?
Were some great games at the weekend, more and more apparent that there is a big gap between Falcons, Irish and Worcester compared to the rest of the AP - Worcester probably best of the three teams. Must be Falcons v Irish in the next few weeks to decide who stays up?

Just catching up on that game yesterday, didn't see much in it.
On a side note, Thomas totally smashed Vuinipola in the scrum, gave him a real torrid time. Mako looked like he was improving a little at the start of the season but is back to his "flopping on the floor" best of late.

That is completely bizarre as he got a pasting in the scrum. They must do their rating on the loose(carries, offloads etc) as other sites do like Planet Rugby.
There's been numerous comments on the main board as how bad he scrummaged.

Not sure about that, Thomas had a very good game and is a great scrummager but look at the front row Sarries had - Brits and du Plessis. Mako had a very good game, which is why he was in team of the week.
Front row so odd as changes week in week out, look at the Wasps v Saints game this week Waller has been playing well all season but JCW got loads of penalties from him. Is a lottery with the scrum and individual ref interpretations.

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
See Marler got 2 weeks.
With front row Chris it is different week in week out as you have a wide range of props some who use.power and others, technique. You also have different shapes and sizes meaning that a player can dominate one game and then struggle against a different style prop the next. For me I much prefer the taller more rounded prop as I can get under them and use my leg power whereas if I.play a shorter oldhead it is alot more difficult as they use more tricks and are at my level

Agree prop.
As a backrow who in last 4 or 5 years played front row ( learnt it as when I started though as you only had 2 or 3 bench allowed at national league level( may even been same at AP but later became 5 and now the 8 we have now). Meant all players in pack could play a few positions.
I played
Mainly lH when had to but as was tall ie 6 ft 3 I struggled against small
Wiley old boy TH. Against
Big strong th I could drive through them as have decent technique due to coaching.
Loved playing the big gym monkey types.
Also as I am tall I was not having to stoop which makes you lose body position and your strength.
Every prop will have one they struggle against. If a prop wins 75% of his battles then he is world class.
Mako much improved but struggles vs a real squat technique merchanT. He is also only 24/25 so approaching his peak.
Not many pure scrummagers
About anymore. All have ups and downs. Loosehead you have ayerza, sip, beast, marler, mcgrath(much improved) and Ben arous as best in world In no particular order
Th
Slimani, herrerar and nel had good world cups but after that ??!
Mako
Is a fantastic player and with
Marler, mako, Mullen and Auterac to come through we have depth.

Auterac and Waller are Saxons to SA
Thomas and hill Th to SA

Mako got hammered Chris, I can only take it that you didn't see the game. Du Plessis is Sarries first choice TH with Figallo not anywhere near the level prior to injury.
I really like Mako, he's a great impact sub but his scrummaging needs a lot of work.

Anyone going to the games over the weekend? Off to watch Wasps tomorrow, possibly the best backline we could put out, with Simpson back from injury and on the bench too. Robson, Gopperth, Halai, Piautu, Daly, Wade, Piautu - should be an absolutely brilliant game against Chiefs and perfect weather - having Charle Piautu back is a huge boost, has to be the best back in the AP this season.

Chris watching Glos vs dragons tomorrow
And hope we win as I am off to Lyon for both Euro finals
With the wife.
Lyon a great couples city.
Watching stormers vs sun wolves how ref not yellowed wolves is unreal.
JK Schickerling at 4 due to etzbeth out for a week will be a star. Was
Unreal in
U 20 a year ago and then broke his neck badly. Somehow
Is back and the real deal. A proper athlete.
Du toit and De Jongh so good also. De toit is a complete second row. De Jongh one of form players in comp. great 12 or 13. Such a nails defender.
Jean luc plessis is a young talent also.
If he is half as good as his dad he will be top

Hard to judge any team against the Sunwolves, they're pretty poor, especially on the road. 4 tries after 25mins says it all really.

Hurricanes looked strong. Barrett was quality and Savea getting into some from after a poor season. AB's have a real selection headache with Cruden and Barrett playing so well.

Massive barret fan. Perenara in unreal form also.
Both Saveas so good. Julian savea first game and hattrick.
Barrett needs to learn game management. Even today he missed kick to touch 20 metres out. His kicking game full stop needs improving.
He is fantastic instinctive player and has peripheral vision unlike many others. Great player.
Cruden similarly struggles with game
Management. The fact that he is a poor goal kicker counts against him. Mckenzie is an average goal kicker currently ( will work it
Out in my view) but is kicker of choice in front of cruden.
Carter is kicking 95% for racing so whoever they pick
Is a massive step down. To be fair when you lose the greatest ten of all time any player is a step down. We had the same when wilkinson went

As a Glos fan that today was exactly why we are so upset
With coaching staff.
We pick mccoll and others who are useless. Then we
Sign awful Southern Hemisphere
Players like mo'tutu and hohnek.
As fans we
Know we will not improve because we are signing rubbish yet allowing players like underhill and Robson to leave.

Carter had a great last season but was very hit and miss over the last few years, Cruden & Barrett are fantastic replacements.
Julian was great today but jury out on Ardie, not sure he has the game to step it up a level.

Lol at Ardie comment he has been ripping up trees all year. His stats are crazy. No Jury out. Fitzpatrick and all
Others saying he is complete player.
How good
Was Itoje today and every time
He plays. Emerging as a special
Special player. England captain in making. Such a superb talent and literally improves every game.

Why lol???
Are these the stats that you generally say mean little? He's a good player but his breakdown work is poor for a 7. He reminds me of a poor mans Hooper in some regards.
After Cane, NZ have a huge drop at 7.
