Welcome to Season 8 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1993.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Player Draft
Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will participate in a player draft beginning the week of June 22nd. Both sides will be allowed to draft two players each. The draft picks will go as follows; 1. Worcester 2. Wasps 3. Wasps 4. Worcester.
Round Bidding
There will be two rounds of bidding. The first window will run the week starting June 29th and the second the week starting July 3rd. All sides will be allowed to sign one player each during the window. These bids are not protected if you do not have the funds in place to bid during the window you will lose the bid.
Open Bidding
From July 13th the foreign market will be open to all bids similar to previous seasons. Due to the world cup the window will remain open till the end of September.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. 2m for 5 games, 1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Sale recruiting very smartly, they've got some big players they have lost but Phillips and the US flyhalf could be a very good combination.
Anyone have the young Bristol flyhallf? Callum Sheedy, he's looked very good in last few games for Bristol, really controlled the first leg of the semi final last weekend.

Sheedy keeping Morgan out.
One of my best mates is Bristol backs coach and Cardiff coach next year and thinks he is excellent. A steady player and not what they had last year in the finals!!
I am off to play off final Bristol
Leg. Bought ticket assuming they win the second leg vs blues.
Phillips
Will do a job. That yank 10 is hit and miss.
They will
Miss Cips who wins them games.
Also think wasps signing their hooker is bad for

Anyone see highlanders dismantle the Chiefs? That's the reason I have said all along Chiefs will not win the tournament.
Too weak in so many positions. Front row sub standard and weber
Who is in
Great form is over performing. Had a stinker today But not helped by pack that was poor.
Likewise Chiefs wingers very average.
Aaron smith is best 9 in world by a distance and naholo superb.
Mckenzie of Chiefs is unreal talent so dynamic.
With smith Dagg and Mckenzie in white hot
form AB's have such depth

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
They hardly dismantled them.
Weber over performing makes no sense, he's arguably the form 9 in the competition. It'll be an interesting battle for the backup 9 position this season. Weber is in bang in form but untested, TJ is electric but not playing well at all this season.

Have you watched the game ? Highlanders better at every juncture. TJ been in unreal form like Weber and smith.
All 3 been excellent. Just noticed you own Weber which explains your comment.
He is over performing as he is 26 years old and never shown that much promise and is keeping out decent players.
He has had a majestic season and is a good player. Very rare a person his age comes good.
Form 9 of competition would be Perenara or more likely cubelli if you watched the tournament.
That said Aaron smith is without challenge best in world and has been getting better each game. Title is not won in these opening games.
Said all season Chiefs will not win it and hope I am proven right.
Can't see a side with that bad a set piece and other weaknesses winning.
Highlanders have a kick game and more pragmatic game but hard to defend.

As a glos fan even though we picked a weakened side it showed our issues.
Our defend a ruck time is awful.
Moriarty has been sensational all season as has laid law. Why we. Rested people for last game is beyond me.
Need a change of management

Like you don't didn't know I owned him lol. Weber is 25....TJ is 24
I watched pretty much all the games today. TJ had a mare, made some dreadful decisions kicking the ball away and quick taps, passing was all over the place too.
Saying that, he's really improved over the last year and this was probably an off day.

Stop being so condescending, you don't hold the monopoly on opinions.
Every super rugby game is shown out here, it's pretty much all I watch apart from Falcons and the odd AP game.

Good article in the Telegraph reviewing each club this season
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/2016/05/08/aviva-premiership-steve-jamess-verdict-on-every-clubs-performanc/wasps/
Sums up Wasps pretty well!
The entertainers. Pace and power have been a lethal combination, with Nathan Hughes a carrying beast at No 8 until appearing to be worked out a little in recent times and the likes of Charles Piutau, Frank Halai and Christian Wade electrifyingly quick out wide. Added to this has been the craft of the signing of the season, George Smith, at the breakdown. Unfortunately their tight work has not always matched those other parts of their game.
Next season? How they will miss Smith and Piutau (time for Thomas Young and Rob Miller to step forward?), but the arrival of Cipriani is only going to strengthen the desire to attack.

Expect some big signings for Wasps coming up.
Beale will be a great signing. If they can get a big solid 13 who can defend and move Daly to 15 they could really click in the backline.
9. Robson
10. Cips
11. Halai
12. Beale
13. Big 13
14. Wade
15. Daly
Could be fantastic. Have you signed a TH?

When you see young and Yarde in an England squad you know that this game is going to be a sham.
Wales should have very few people missing and could give us a smashing

It's only a training squad. I think losing AP semi players will be involved?
Even as a Falcons fan, I'm surprised with Young. Yarde warrants inclusion, there's few others to be fair.

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
Cipriani and Beale would be a disaster for us, I don't think that signing is happening fortunately - I'd have loved to have seen Toomua signed as our no12, shame he went to Leicester who will have an incredible backline next year.
They've got big hopes for Guy Armitage as no12 for next season and there has been quite a bit of talk that they are eyeing up Steffan Armitage as the replacement for George Smith. Not sure about that as he seems a really disruptive influence.
Daly has been our best back again this season (Piautu aside) and isn't a no15, would be crazy if we moved him there, he's the heartbeat of our attack. Cipriani as no10 linking with Daly could be brilliant. Do need to find a replacement for Piautu though, he's been wc for us at times.

Armitage much better at 13 and a strong defender unlike Daly.
10. Cips
12. Beale
13. Armitage
Looks very good on paper. Beale is a fantastic player, he'd be far from a disaster. Would allow Daly to play in ha best position and really challenge Brown at FB.

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
Lol - can't resist the defence comments, you love a wind up attempt but does get ever so boring
Cips and Beale isn't physical enough in the AP and if you watch Wasps regularly you'd see that their attacking spark comes from the 13 channel. We need a big, strong no12 like Sale do with Leota for Cips as teams will target him.
Daly has been great for us this season, if his best position was no15 then Young would have picked him there when Piuatu and Miller were both out injured. For me over the course of the season Daly has been best no13 in the AP, with the Tigers 13 being the best in form no13 over last 2 months.

Surprised Hammersley didnt make the England training squad, thought he has been very good this season. Hoping it won't be a case where he has to join a more favourable club to get England recognition.

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
Not a wind up, an honest opinion, no need to get touchy.
Really like Daly but he's a better 15 than 13 imo. He gets too exposed in defence at 13, he wouldn't at FB. With his gas he'd be a real counter attacking threat, it would be best for club and country as soon as he starts playing there.
Cips/Beale would be a great playmaking option if not very good defensivley. Stick a big 13 in who lead the line snd they should be ok. Play Daly there and it would be carnage, I agree.

Hammers has been amazing but he's a bit like Daly in he slips off too many tackles. Less in the firing line at 15 obviously so less noticeable than Daly but still not good enough.
He really has something about him though and will get higher recoginition at some point.

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
Sorry, but it just makes me laugh how many times you like to bring up the subject. Once a week for the last year or so, just comes across that you are looking for a reaction
I don't think Wasps have any issues with playmaking, they must be top try scorers in the AP again this season - although Chiefs might have overtaken us in recent weeks, but if you watch them you'd see all the attack runs through Daly.
Personally I wouldn't want a 10-12 combination where both players can get run through/over in defence. Cips plays his best rugby when he has a strong, powerful runner at no12 and a fast attacking option as a no13 where his passing game can create loads of chances. Look at how it has worked with Leota and James at Sale this season.
C'mon Doncaster for the final against scum bags Bristol! Really hope Bristol bottle it again but can't see it this season unfortunately.
Championship rumoured to be first part the post next season.

Not looking for a reaction at all, just think Daly is a poor defender and a much better 15 than 13. That's it really, I don't know why you get so wound up, it's only an opinion. I think he's cracking player, he's just not playing in his best position.

Haha, convinced you are trying to wind me up mate, can never tell with your posts.
Bristol won't bottle it this year, they have Lam fit and when he plays they win. Be far better to have them in the AP than Doncaster as what is the point in having a team that would lose close to every single game? At least Bristol would make a decent fight of things and challenge likes of Worcester, Newscastle.

Worcester, Newcastle and Bath!
I agree, I can't see them messing up this time. Shame really as I genuinely dislike them. Offer very little in EQ players and will just buy in shed loads of expensive foreigners.
Doncaster could surprise a few people I think and they'll do things the right way. No clubs around that area too so it'll be great for developing the game.

Wow, that's some injury list they have there. Hopefully just precautionary as Lam has been brilliant in the Championship, would be a great addition to the AP. Thing I like about Bristol is that they bring over 12k people to a playoff game.
I know they have an issue with EQ in some areas, but look at the majority of AP teams this year and Wasps are the only club who have signed more EQ than foreign players. Could be a growing issue - if relegation was scraped would we see a lot more youngsters being given a chance?

Of course we'd see more EQ, it's possibly the biggest argument to scrap relegation.
Falcons have signed more EQ the foreign so far.

Falcons 6 foreign signings and 4 EQ signings so far mate, Sam Egerton from the 7s circuit could be a good one, sure he's played for Quins or similar before.

Harrison Orr is an Aussie...and you've also signed one of the stars from the Kenyan 7s teams, Chisanga or someone like that.
Like I said, Wasps are the only AP team that have signed more EQ than foreign so far this year and meant to be looking at Symons from Lon Irish to replace Bradley Davies too.

Harrison Orr is EQ as his father is English. Chisanga was signed a few months back and has played A league games.
As I said, we've also signed more EQ players than foreign

It's all gone quiet........never take your info from Wiki Chris
To be fair, we needed an EQ influx even though we've signed a bunch of relative unknowns. It's a gamble from Deano but they can't do much worse than the expensive foreign players that have failed like Thompson, Tuilagi, Furno, Tiesi etc.

Haven't the time to update the table till this evening but can confirm the league semis are Sale Sharks v Saracens
and Harlequins v Northampton Saints. European finals are this week best of luck to those involved

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
Just to say, though we may not have added more EQ than NEQ (largely because we've added so few players and the likes of Cipriani were spiked by Wasps ) Quins' first XV is still likely 11 EQ and 4 NEQ, probably with only 2 NEQ on the bench
We really need some more players though, esp scrum half, and we need to change whatever it was that happened to switch our great first half of the season into an utter disastrous season once the 6N started

Largely because they are losing a lot of non-EQ (which they wanted to keep but couldn't)
Not that I have any problem with Wasps and they have some great EQ players and I hope either they or Chiefs win the PLayoffs

Lol is this a rugby discussion thread or a points scoring thing?
Met Orr at Ealing earlier in the season, he had a strong Aussie accent and said he'd played for their u20s and was one of the Aussies in their squad, didnt realise he had an English dad. Once you play for u20s that should be it in terms of being able to pick nations.

You started it! Lol
Yea, Aus U20, looks a big unit. We've signed some huge guys, expecting a really physical pack next season.

Re: Season 8 Homepage IV
What do people think of Dan du Preez of the Sharks, I signed him after JWC but just seen he'd made Planet Rugby's team of the week but have only really seen him play from the bench or during JWC last year?

See Ardie Savea made the team again, he's starting to look very good and fulfiling his potential.

He and his brother are very handy. Both big and physical but time will tell whether they have the game intelligence to be World class or just big units.
