Premier League results, week 1
- Liaoning Whowin line-up and tactics:
- --------------------------Iraizoz--------------------------
-----Lahm-------Pepe-------------Silva-------Telles-----
---------------------------Blind---------------------------
--------------Moutinho-------------Andre----------------
--------El Ghazi-------Aboubakar--------Cavani---------
BENCH: Johnstone, Haps, Rudy, Storie, Zidane, Valbuena, Merino
TACTICS:
Looking to play with quick possession, using the power and pace of our front three. Defending deep and looking to get the ball forward quickly and counter attacking.
We expect them to play narrow with full backs providing width and AMs on the flanks. We will counter by positioning our full backs narrower and having Blind covering the space on the edge of the box.
We have the players to pass the ball, our middle three should be able to spot the runs of the forwards, particularly Cavani/El Ghazi who should drift around the final third finding space.
- Chesham United line-up and tactics:
- ----------------------Cech
Bellerin ---- Dragovic --- Abdennour -- Davies
-----------------------Saul
-------------Aranguiz -----Castro
----------------------Kampl
----------Chicharito -------Meier
Subs: Alisson, Jesus Gamez, Schar, Neves,Paloschi,Belhanda
Defensive Tactics:
- Squeeze up as Trebs isn't the fastest side.
- Dragovic & Abedennour to get tight to the forwards stop them turning
- Full backs to push wingers inside and cover the forward turning the centrebacks.
- Saul to mark the AM out and stop him creating chances
- Castro & Aranguiz to stop the outballs.
Attacking Tactics:
- Full backs to get down the wing and whip balls into box
- Castro to go box to box
- Aranguiz sit deep and dictate the play.
- Kampl sit in gaps and create
- Meier to drift and pull the defense open
- Chicharito be on the last man and get tap in's
Subs - Belhanda for Meier go 4-3-3 if losing
- Liaoning Whowin vs Chesham United result:
- Liaoning Whowin 3-1 Chesham United
Edinson Cavani + Vincent Aboubakar x2 / Alex Meier
Chesham gambled with a narrow side and it backfired, as Liaoning anticipated that and exploited the weaknesses of that system. Alex Meier was a constant thorn in the side of Liaoning, as Blind was unable to track him, but Liaoning's forward three were able to scare Chesham's defence half to death with their movement and with their midfield on top of the game, it was only a matter of time before the goals went in. On a better day Chesham's team chemistry and workrate would see them rival anyone, but today they were undone by Trebs' unique ability to see tactics in advance and to use that to his team's benefit.
- Macclesfield Town line-up and tactics:
- -------------------------Donnarumma----------------------------
Hysaj-------------Tah------------Kimmich------------Willems
---------------------Weigl--------Sanches-----------------------
Sane-------------------------------------------------------Coman
--------------------Martial--------Dybala------------------------
Subs: Duarte, Samper, Dahoud, Coric, Fekir, Iheanacho
Home advantage in our first game but up against MK Dons who have possibly the best midfield in the two leagues.
We’re playing 4/4/2 akin to Leicester/Atletico Madrid where we allow them to control possession in non-threatening positions but block their channels and close them down as they enter the final third (especially with the injuries to two of their better players) before then using the speed of our attacking options to hit them on the break and exploit the space available. In particular look to target Insua with Sane who gave him the run-around recently in the Bundesliga.
70m: Replace Coman & Martial with Fekir and Iheanacho as different attacking options
80m: Replace Sanches with Dahoud to shore up midfield
- MK Dons line-up and tactics:
- --------------Zoet---------------
-Vrsaljko-Matip-Naldo-Insua
--Herrera--Verratti--Thiago----
Ziyech------Baston--------Elia
Subs: Weidenfeller, Manquillo, Djourou, Narsingh, Palmer
Injuries-Aritz Aduriz,Nolito,Cristian Ansaldi
Defensively:
-Apply pressure when they attack our final third.
-Stay on your feet and watch the width and don't get caught out by the pace of Hero's team.
-Vrsaljko and Insua watch out for the runs out wide and the wingers cutting inside.
Attacking:
-Verratti as the DLP to pull the strings and create from deeper
-Thiago, Elia & Ziyech to move forward and look to create in the final third
-Baston to latch onto passes in the box, don't hesitate to shoot.
- Macclesfield Town vs MK Dons result:
- Macclesfield Town 1-1 MK Dons
Anthony Martial / Eljero Elia
Macclesfield's front four posed a lot of problems for the MK Dons defence - just as well MK Dons were able to control possession for vast swathes of the game. With the midfield three controlling the game, MK should have been able to take all three points; however a well-marshalled Macclesfield back line, and a relatively toothless MK Dons forward line, meant that they were unable to break through after Elia's early goal. Macclesfield's tactics were spot on - soak up pressure, hit MK on the break - and it was Kingsley Coman who set up Anthony Martial for the equaliser. Both teams have work to do, but Macclesfield will be the happier side.
