England supporters should be appearing here in their droves shortly to thank Scotland for winning the Championship for them a week early.

Well thats a bit more like it. Scotland playing as us scots fans know they can. Bring on Ireland!
Even when the game swung towards France we kept our heads and discipline. Some great rugby from the boys. Losing the try just on half time did not put too much of a dent in things and 3 tries!
Some very good performances there. Taylor was good, Front row did well. Horne did OK, Hogg back to his best. Big Ritchie looking hungry even Visser looked the part!

Seriously though, Scotland had a lot to do with France looking poor. Not knocking the victory at all

By the way what a difference Strauss made in comparison with Denton..
Horne reivented himself at flyhalf, didn't think he had it in him to play like that at this level, i think he played better than Russell would have.

Thank you. I thought France played well in parts and looked dangerous but lost the verve in the second half.

You know I had the same question mark running through my mind at the end. Horne played way above what I thought he could at 10, and I have doubts that Russell would've kept his composure throughout that match

Also commiserations whocares and the rest of the French fans. It does look worryingly like French may have a decent side hiding in there somewhere and they look to be playing a more exciting breed of rugby at long last. Give them some time and I think they'll be back, but they sorely need a consistent 10

Ok, I'm sticking my head above the parapet here. But........
Much is being said about hogg's flick pass, but my question is this: Had hogg just left the ball alone, would it have gone to visser anyway?

Re: 6N 2016: Scotland v France, 13 March
Cracking game! Also, hats off to the ref! He wasn't going to rush scrum decisions simply to make the game more entertaining, he took his time, gave the players the benefit of the doubt and only penalised when it was clear one team was in the wrong. In my opinion that is the way to ref the scrum. The game was still highly entertaining and no one is left feeling robbed at the end of the match, Scotland won it fair and square.
Big hats off to Horne, Hogg, Hardie, Taylor, Nel and Laidlaw. In fact the whole team really. They looked organised, except perhaps in defence, but thats easy to say sitting at home watching on TV.
I love how Scotland chip away, almost excruciatingly at times, but then when a break comes they skip gears and really put on the pressure. Its calculated and cool and best of all, its paying off on the scoreboard!!
Win away to Ireland would be a huge step forward, but winning today was certainly a good step forward in its own right.
Lets make it 3 from 3!!

I think so but it would have been a very bad pass at feet level which would have probably stopped the momentum of the action.

Nah the BBC showed after the game that it wouldn't of. It would have probably have gone near Vissers knees, wasting time, most likely him getting tackled before he could touch it down.

Hogg's pass took in Spedding who would otherwise have tackled Visser out his boots by the look of it.

Re: 6N 2016: Scotland v France, 13 March
I may well be wrong but I think that's the first time in 9 years that we've beaten anyone else other than Italy by more than 10 points in the six nations.
The best part of that performance is unlike when we've had big wins in the last 10-15 years when it's often involved luck or a mistake or brave defence this performance was a comprehensive victory, not a thrashing by any means, involving good defence and attack. If any other team in world rugby put that performance against France they'd be chuffed. We need to back it up now, a win in Ireland with a tour to Japan to come could give us some real momentum.

I always rated Horne, you must have me confused with someone else
It was Dunbar I wasn't sure about but he played well too. He was powerful in the contact area.

Re: 6N 2016: Scotland v France, 13 March
Thought Scotland played really nicely. Too much talk of the Championship now would be disrespectful and overshadow what was a very good Scotland win. I guess this one puts those early tournament, narrow losses in perspective, especially seeing how Wales and England have done against other sides.
Your game with Ireland should be a cracker. A confident Scotland vs an Ireland desperate to finish in the mid table and not drop from 1st to 5th in one season.
For France, I thought they looked very dangerous in patches but I don't think they're the finished article yet, not anywhere close. There should be more to come from them, and I expect to see them play with a bit of flair next week. But I just think their error count is too high and they're just not quite there. I'd be very surprised to see them beat England next week.

Re: 6N 2016: Scotland v France, 13 March
I have just realised - thats the first time Scotland have beaten anyone above us in the rankings for what - 3 years? We might even move up the rankings as a result - beat Ireland and we will move into the top 8
