Leicester, Liverpool City, WHU and last ever PL game at Upton Park. Olly should enjoy himself at the Liberty, bar the result hopefully. Pretty friendly pre match outside the pubs by the Stadium. Swans fans can moan about how the fat tyre fitter Grant Holt tortured us for years..
A massive result for Swansea today, especially when combined with the failure of all the teams below them to collect more than a total of one point this afternoon. Looking increasingly likely that it will be between Newcastle and Sunderland for the final relegation slot.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Looking at Leicester's remaining games then it's certainly theirs to lose now.
Newcastle (h)
Palace (a)
Southampton (h)
Sunderland (a)
West Ham (h)
Swansea (h)
Man Utd (a)
Everton (h)
Chelsea (a)
I reckon they'll get 17 points from those games, being that they're already 8 points clear of Arsenal then the Gunners would need to win all their remaining games which they won't do, I can't see Spurs collecting 22 out of 27 points.

Which of these 3 is going down with Villa then?
Newcastle, Norwich, Sunderland. I can really only see Palace getting drawn into it, and that would still be crazy

If they beat us they'll win the title. I honestly think their hardest two games are us and Chelsea. United may have some form, but their keep-ball style suits Leicester.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I'd be intrigued to see how Sam matches Sunderland up against them. He would usually sit back and frustrate. They do have teams who are scrapping, and that could be an issue, and Everton blow so hot and cold that they could win that 5-0, lose it 5-0 or draw 4-4.
Its them or Spurs as far as I can see, I just don't think Arsenal or City will make up the ground.

It's not an easy run in for Leicester but it could be a lot worse.

There's a number of games to come that could benefit Leicester, even if Leics do stumble, notably:
Man City v Man Utd 10 March
Tottenham v Man Utd 10 April
Man City v Arsenal 7 May

Not to mention Spurs having two draining European trips left. And Arsenal having to come to Upton Park.

Unfortunately you're correct Dolph - we can create chances but not finish, and have a defence like a sieve.
Obviously it's never over until it's over, but when you're on a run of 1 point from 9 games it's pretty much over

If you could get your sh*t together so Toon/Sunderland & Villa go that would be great. Been awhile since all 3 promoted sides stayed up.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Can't believe McClaren hasn't gone tonight. The baffling inclusion of Riviere, warranted an immediate sacking pre-game. Then he had to substitute him at half-time, which was even more humiliating & embarrassing for Steve. Not sure Moyes is that desperate to take this job, it's more suited to a Pearson type figure. When we lose to Leicester next monday, I'd be amazed if Ashley doesn't pull the trigger & we bring someone in to get the 'manager boost' for the Sunderland derby game & then the Norwich game at Carrow Road.

no point sacking him before the sunderland game you'll lose it as normal anyway.

There's part of me thinking that it's a good thing that despite 1pt in 9 games we're still only 1 pt off safet and are playing our two main rivals at home in the run in.
But the other side to that is we have 1pt in 9 games, Tettey is it for the season now Brady/naismith have picked up injuries too - and we have man city next!
I don't know what to think about us anymore - kinda just losing interest in the useless lot and looking forward to next season already

Hi Westy - reckon you're right. I had been quietly thinking for a while along the same lines as Duty that Arsenal would sneak home as Leicester and Spurs would get the jitters in the final couple of months of the season. That still might happen of course but it's looking less likely now that both will will fold. Not that long to go now - the number of remaining games is already down to single figures. Arsenal, City and anyone else are rapidly running out of time to make up the difference on the current top two.
See your boys are at home to Spurs next Sunday. Doubt that Spurs will be too nervous about that journey - sorry, mate!

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I think that Leicester and Tottenham not being traditional scalps to take plays in their favour, all teams want to beat Arsenal for the prestige of it whereas that isn't there for the other two. The effort United put in against them for example was far superior to that of the subsequent match against Watford. Subconsciously I think teams will try harder against them.

Palace in poor form and Liverpool coming off a great win/performance, cue a big defeat with Bolasie mauling us. Just can't handle that man.

I think that is true until about February. Now everyone knows what they are doing to Leicester and the importance of that game. And that Leicester are "better" than them.

Watching on a poor stream so can't really tell, but commentators are saying that Delaney's knee caught him? Looked a dive at first to me.
To me that is the biggest difference between Liverpool under Rodgers and Liverpool under Klopp, no way would that have ended in anything other than a loss after Milner's red card under Rodgers.
Incredible nerve and confidence from Benteke from the spot though, considering his poor form and being benched a lot, big balls to do that.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
2 points above United. 5 above Liverpool. United have Tottenham City and Everton next three league games. Liverpool still have Tottenham and Chelsea to play. Both have Europa League, United still have us in the cup and have to play at our place in the league. Not thinking too much about those above us but we could definitely finish 5th.
However, I think we'll lose to Chelsea and Leicester and blow up elsewhere.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Not sure it was the fans who cheated too win to be perfectly honest... I for one was very happy with the result and the performance once down to 10 men (made that clear above). Also thought the penalty was soft but those things tend to even out over a season, every season most teams will be on the receiving end of a soft penalty as well as giving one away. (At least).
More than capable of claiming 5th spot ourselves but have a feeling another fixture pile up will effectively end out chances of it as we have had many injuries this year and our squad isn't exactly the strongest it's ever been. One happy fan today though.

Didn't realise Liverpool were the only team that made the most of contact, West Ham are whiter than white aren't they
Every team does it sadly, right or wrong it happens and has become a part of football that if there is contact players will go down.
