Merthyr, Swansea, Bargoed, RGC1404 all promoted. Pontypool miss out
First topic message reminder :
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/welsh-championship/table
5 teams with the required A licence, 4 promotion spots available, with the 5 teams in the top 5 places, and:
RGC 1404 have now been overtaken by Bargoed with only a few games to play. The top 4 teams are going to be promoted with the new expanded Premiership to be ring-fenced until the end of the 2018/19 season. To put it mildly IF RGC don't make it into the top 4, it's going to throw a hell of a spanner into the works of the WRU's plans to promote the game in North Wales.
Bargoed were simply not supposed to be part of the plan. Pontypool and Swansea were supposed to be eased back up to the top of Welsh club rugby. RGC were supposed to promote the game in North Wales with the long term view of being Wales 5th region, and Merthyr were supposed to be the Blues 3rd development team. Bargoed nip in at the last minute by securing their A license and risk messing up carefully laid plans!

Well, RGC are one win away from the promised land. They have thumped Cardiff MET to go two points behind Pontypool. They travel to struggling Glynneath next week, but confidence will be high for Glynneath after they thumped Bargoed away from home.
It's all down to next weekend.

It would be great if Glynneath weren't already safe, as it would make for a better game on Sat. Still can't see past RGC now though. Shame for Pooler.

RGC beat Glynneath today, so Pooler are out.

RGC 1404 have secured promotion to the Principality Premiership at the expense of Pontypool.
Tries from Afon Bagshaw, Tiaan Loots and James Lang saw the Colwyn Bay-based side win 19-7 at Glynneath in the Swalec Championship.
RGC's win sees them leapfrog Pontypool, who had already completed their games, to finish fourth and secure a second promotion in four years.
Champions Merthyr host Glynneath in the final game of the season next Saturday.
Well done to RGC, thank god for that, people at the WRU will be sleeping easier tonight.

Jumped on the bandwagon as well have you shifty? RGC clearly won enough games, hence promotion.

I'm happy for the Gogs (being half-Gog myself), but after all the hype they were getting, I have to admit I wanted Glynneath to win, just to see the fallout.
