Azzy's voting the same week as me on the final week, which is probably for the best based on the reaction to my last week's votes.

Don't forget Eriksen has been playing out wide most of the real life season and would struggle to adapt to the AM role in your side

He's played an equal amount in AM as LW so can fit in either role just fine.

I think Hero needs to worry about Eriksen's form more than anything; I've watched 14 Spurs games this season and he is consistently their most disappointing player.

What's your opinion on Evans and Fletcher?

That's odd then when Whoscored have him as the 3rd best Spurs best player season behind Kane and Dembele.

Re: The World League II
Evans I didn't want us to sign - I thought he'd be a waste of money. However, he's a real leader, puts in 100% every game, and we miss him enormously. He's been consistent all season, played well at CB, DM, RB and even LB (where I'd never seen him play, even for United), and a fantastic signing.
Fletcher is bang average tbh, but he puts in 100%, keeps going, plays it simple, and leads through quiet authority. One of the best free signings we've ever made.
And if United want to give us Giggs to replace Pulis, then that would be most welcome

Amazing to think we've got him and Barkley coming through - both great talents.
We have to play Kane/Vardy up top - practically unstoppable (and the way they both play they'd make a great partnership)

Oh my days, if this was me saying another nation should replace their top scoring striker with a guy who's scored 1 goal in an international you'd all be on me for getting on the hype train.
Because it's England though the hypocrisy rules go out of the window.

Re: The World League II
But Rooney hasn't performed at a major international tournament since 2004. It's not like Brazil replacing Ronaldo, it's England giving form players a chance to shine in a tournament.

He'd be replacing Wayne Rooney - serial under achiever, who will at best be half fit.
Hardly replacing a world beater
And suggesting the two top scorers in the premier league should start, not the most outlandish thing that's ever been said

And who also scored 7 goals in 8 qualifiers to get us to the tournament.

Yes we all know he can score against San Marino and Estonia, but it's proven he flunks at tournaments - especially coming off an injury. Take him as a sub and let him come off the bench if needed

Re: The World League II
Even Danny Welbeck scores in euro qualifiers so that's no excuse for Rooney. Ive no doubt if Kane & Vardy played for 90 mins like he does they would score as many as shrek.

Jack Wilshere scored in the qualifiers, let's start him over Delle Alli. After all, he's scored more England goals.

Jack Wilshere got MOTM in 6 of his last 7 games for England.

Re: The World League II
My point though initially is that the same people who were quick to point out that my team are 'form' players and possibly only one season wonders etc are then the same people who then call for Vardy up front for England at the Euros based upon one good season in the top flight and a goal for England, yet next week will go back to voting for someone's 'class' against my team of one season wonders.

England don't have class players so need to rely on form players.

The all time leading scorer for the country I would argue the case for him being a class player.

Re: The World League II
Maybe, but not World Class.
Form players are what England need.
Form players aren't as good as some World Class players.
You should be able to differentiate between the two statements quite easily.

Oh so if the criteria is 2-3 years then Rooney has scored 47 club goals in that period whilst Vardy has 40 (16 of which in the Championship).
And Rooney does still have 14 goals this season despite being apparently 'out of form', only 5 behind Vardy!

Re: The World League II
And Geoff Hurst scored a hat trick in a World Cup final. Ancient history has no place in picking this squad; neither Rooney, nor Wilshere, nor Carrick, nor Milner, nor several other older players (Foster, Jagielka, Baines, Cahill, even Henderson) warrant a place in the 23.Hero wrote:Jack Wilshere got MOTM in 6 of his last 7 games for England.

4 of these 'ancient history' games were in the qualifiers for the Euros. All of the MOTMs were within the last two years.

Re: The World League II
So how do you measure whether Wilshere or Alli is the better selection, when Alli was a 17yo kid in the MK Dons youth team two years ago? Surely, ability and recent form are the only two denominators against which the two can be fairly compared.Hero wrote:Azzy wrote:And Geoff Hurst scored a hat trick in a World Cup final. It's a 4/5 game tournament. You play your form players. Can't just hope some out of form guys come in and somehow find form, play the guys who are confident and playing well.

Better off doing results than watching England get demolished. I refuse to watch our great nation led by a player like James Milner. Rewarding mediocrity is such a British thing.
