Euro 2016 Discussion
First topic message reminder :
Rooney woeful? I'm not his biggest fan but he's been pretty good so far, working well alongside Dier allowing Alli to push on further
Duty281 wrote:Sterling and Rooney have been woeful thus far and need to be dropped (but 1 of them certainly won't be), but I would favour giving Kane one final chance. He's had an excellent couple of seasons, and England shouldn't jettison him at the first sign of difficulty.

Be in favor of those kind of fouls getting straight red. Ramis just wiped him out to prevent a very good opportunity in favor of a free kick on a half way line

Matuidi or Kante for Coman at half time I think.

Matuidi poor centre showing why he should not be on the right.

Well if France don't play with more urgency they will certainly lose this.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
France have been ordinary in the extreme. Giroud is static, Payet and Griezmann are isolated. Not entirely sure what Matuidi is in this side to do, because at the moment its nothing, Pogbas trying but hes outnumbered everytime he breaks from midfield.
Deschamps has to change it, need pace and width.

It's an ordinary French team that have been stuck in first gear the whole tournament. Not sure they have another gear to be honest.

Ireland need to be careful, refs typically dont need a second chance to hand out reds in this environment

Agree that was poor defending. Not sure what happened to The Ireland team that didn't let France getting close to their box for 40 minutes. Getting tired maybe.

That'll be game, Ireland have lost the plot in this 2nd half, MoN and Keane will be furious.

Have to say Griezman at centre forward alongside Giroud actually has produced some goods.

Fergie's hairdryer treatment will be nothing compared to what Keane spews out at full time.

That crowd allocation picture - a tiny spot of green on a right hand corner of a big styadium - in a big International contest is a joke.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Not too sure what to make of that 2nd half . Ireland totally exploded physically and played with a man down but even with plenty of opportunities and space France failed to score a 3rd goal.
Overall France still a bit pedestrian. Ireland could have got more if they didn't go awol.

The tiny spot of green made more noise than the sea of blue to be fair.

Ireland will feel like that's a chance missed today - France your prototype team of individuals - have to think they'll be picked off by one of the better sides (England should, but they won't)

Still... the game was tough enough - one side didn't need such an extra advantage in the stadium being practically all their colour. It doesn't win you a game but it does help keep feet running when times are tough.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Big moment was McLean fluffing his lines setting up Murphy for a tap in.
Would've been 2-2 and it was just before the passage of play for the red card.
Hoolahan was god awful when he came on.

What do you want to do, stop locals buying tickets at major tournaments?SecretFly wrote:That crowd allocation picture - a tiny spot of green on a right hand corner of a big styadium - in a big International contest is a joke.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
McClean is much too awkward to be effective. He has a certain desire that keeps him going but he's just too hoofy to be slick enough in the role he has.

I want tickets to be bought after teams know they are through not before..... It's a silly set-up.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Happy Ireland made France scared, sad they capitulated so.
I'd be playing Umtiti if I were Deschamps, but I'd have taken Lacazette and dropped Matuidi by now too, even though I like him. France do not look like blowing anyone away, but they do have match winners to get them through when their fluency is gone.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
I think Ireland outperformed France comfortably but ultimately made basic errors at some crucial moments. At the end of the day that's what differentiates top players from lesser ones, effort and organisation can only take you so far.
Also think the difference in rest was ridiculous.
