Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Something just a tiny bit coincidental about Belgium getting themselves knocked out of the football the day before the Tour de France starts.
Also, wonder what the narrative will be if Wales go on to win the whole thing after voting to leave the EU. Going to have to plan a referendum for every major tournament...

When it gets tough, Belgium have been found out again. Flaky bunch. Shame as they have some great players but the willpower just ain't there. At least I get to see Wales Portugal 2 rounds later than expected.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Quite the tale. Bale gets them to the final and he'll win Player of the Tournament surely.
Saying that, all been great today. They are managed by a man who absolutely understands them, doesn't pretend to play to some higher responsibility. Well done Coleman

Hard to pick a MOTM for Wales, each and every one of them puts the likes of the England team to shame.

You got a team maximising their strengths with plenty of passion and a team who is probably not even half of the sum of their parts.
Well done Wales.

They will be playing for Aaron Ramsey in the semi, which will make them even more difficult to beat.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Backed Wales to win the Euros pre-tournament (80/1!) so now it's getting properly exciting.
Even without Ramsey, they should beat a dismal Portugal. But please, Wales, play like you did against Belgium from minutes 15-45; not that strange mentality you adopted against a hapless England.

Portugal has experience of this level and will be a tough nut to crack. Won't be pretty I reckon. Wonder what are the odds for another draw after 90 minutes...

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Ramsey was a genius, created both of Wales goals. He set up a couple of other sparkling chances as well. Bale doing a great Robin to Aaron's batman.
For the love of God Arsene play him in the middle next year, like you did two years ago.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Belgium 2nd in FIFA ratings do me a favour, outclassed by Italy and well beat by Wales, watching Belgium is like watching England, if Hazard doesn't play Belgium are done, Bale, Ramsey and Ashley Williams would walk into the England side.
Would fancy Wales against Belgium if Ramsey was playing, still have a good chance though, wish the Welsh fans wouldn't all turn into baritone choir singers bloody awful to listen too.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Wow! Absolutely delighted for Wales. Cracking game of football and what a result for those lads! The epitome of passion and desire!! I live in Wales and having been born (though not raised) here know how passionate their fans are about sport in general not just rugby! Quality team performance, led by an amazing manager who as said knows his teams strengths, clearly understands his players and has quite the bond but most importantly respect of them.
Tonight shows what a team full of players who know their job, concentrate on that and that alone and play as one not for one can do! If the FA are watching here's your plan moving on...pick a man who is clear in his own ideas (not a yes man), pick players who fit a system not a system to fit players but most importantly players who have desire, passion and thoroughly enjoy turning out for their country!
Big congratulations to all of Wales and their fans! Will be glued to the tv for the semi final and will be joining in with the lot of you.
Lastly, in the context of the tournament, Robson Kanu goal of the tournament...absolutely sensational! Robson WHO....Robson KANU that's WHO!

To be fair Nico...I'm English and I enjoyed watching Iceland embarrass us just as much as the Welsh lads seemingly did!
I don't get the whole 'hope a fellow British team loses' mentality in any sport! I'm always glad to see any of our home nations do well and proud when they do! It's amazing as plenty of say England fans will hate seeing Wales do well...but then will happily cheer a Welsh athlete winning a medal for GB at the Olympics.
Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Yes, yes, Portugal will be ugly. We are all aware.
Ten years ago today that the most ugly and pathetic Portugal side defeated a disjointed England, in a real scrap of a game.
Just like Croatia and Poland found out at this tournament.
But Wales, who will be European Champions this month, are better than that. They will defeat Portugal because they have the requisite maturity, composure and class to rise above it. They won't get dragged into a brawl. They will wear them down. And Wales will take their chance when it arrives.

Didn't you get tired of jinxing England at the Euros and Arsenal last year? I like you duty but you are the kiss of death. I am convinced if you were alive in 66 Germany would have won that WCDuty281 wrote:Yes, yes, Portugal will be ugly. We are all aware.

I didn't want either of the Irish teams to lose and cheered both on, I didn't enjoy watching England get embarrassed, but I thought they got what they deserved, but I can't and never will warm to the Welsh.owen10ozzy wrote:Nico the gman wrote:Yes we love you Wales, and thanks to all the Welsh fans who supported England particularly the Welsh players, that's a class video of them watching the England, Iceland game.Adam D wrote:Thank you Wales and up yours to the haters on here. Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
It wouldn't surprise me, if the shoe had been on the other foot, we wouldn't have seen a leaked video of the England players acting like that.
TBH I'm too disgusted with our team to be annoyed at the Welsh.
Watched the Belgium game and was amazed by Wales. Honestly thought they'd struggle after going a goal down. Instead they did what I wish England could do...find the resolve and find a way to get back in the game.
The only negative points were that they should have been down to 10 men for the last 10 minutes after one of the guys on yellows committed a second bookable foul. Also lucky they didn't concede a penalty after Nainngolan was brought down in the area.
For all that Wales made plenty of their own luck to score 3 goals...all brilliantly worked. They showed everything England consistently fail to...desire, will to win and teamwork.
Congrats to them. I genuinely think they're in with a shout against Portugal, who have been a bit inconsistent. If they could keep Hazard quiet, I think Ronaldo might have one of his off-days.

I think they'll beat Portugal. It may be a problem for them that this may be the first game someone doesn't expect to beat them and over commit.

Think Portugal are too canny for them.
NI out played them but didn't have the quality, Belgium played straight into their hands.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
I'd side with Portugal. Think the Portuguese levels of cheating & the dark arts will come out even more now, being this close to a final. Portugal are too experienced for this Wales side, Belgium were in unknown territory & didn't know what to do. Without Davies & Ramsey too, you have think that will be significant for Wales, Portugal are missing William Carvalho, but Danilo looks more than capable of replacing him.

Italy 29/20 to qualify tonight - quite beautiful odds.
Let us have no pretence, Germany have only beaten Italy once in my lifetime - and that was in a friendly.

Looks a weak Italian midfield tonight, without Candreva & De Rossi. All the Italian defenders booked, so if they get through, could be seriously weakened for the semi-final.

Both teams below par. Still fancy Italy with their superior attacking movement to make the breakthrough in the second half.

Unfortunately, this hasn't been the Italian side we've seen previously. Candreva & De Rossi were always going to be massive misses. No fluency with Italy's passing tonight.
