Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (Fluxy) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1994.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made by sending a PM to the RFU (Fluxy) and it will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Round Bidding
Open Bidding
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. £2m for 5 games, £1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Cracking 2nd halfs from Ford, Youngs, Hughes and Cole. We're blowing them away

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Personally still think Hughes needs time to get ready for int rugby, could be a very good impact player but we miss out on the tight game as he's excellent at running when he has open space. He's got into the game second half, but prefer Morgan.
Would have liked Youngs to have stayed on, he was having a blinding game - that dummy for the try was world class.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Hughes is great in open games, when it is a tight game he isn't - as the game opened up he got better and better - he needs his pack to give him some go forward.
Amazing how much we've improved.
Lawes was immense again and Wood was everywhere. That second half performance was very good - like Ford at 10 as it allows us to really mix up our attack, whether his kicking game or passing. If only he could gk like Farrell!

Ford is excellent in attack, his goal kicking is something else though....so bad.
Great 2nd half. Lawes, Wood, Hughes, JJ, Cole, Yarde, May, Ford....and of course Youngs, very good.

Then add in everyone else who will be returning from injury and bans. I was impressed by Teo'o again, didnt realise how powerful he is as a defender and ball carrier.
Ford makes no sense with his kicking, can miss an easy one and then nail it from the touch line through the middle.

Wilkinson, SCW and Lynagh summed Hughes up well there - as soon as our pack got on top it gave him a great platform.

Its his first start....hes not going to be amazing from the off. He had a very good game.
Billy is our first choice obviosly, more than happy with Hughes as backup.
Te'o looks some player, like to see him given a start at some point.

Hughes made the most meters of any England player yesterday(73m), also he beat the most defenders.....(4 - equal with Youngs).
Not bad for a player starting his first game

Lol, Pooly that's what number 8s do though, they should always make the most yards due to their positional play, how they run it back from clearance kicks. The guys a top athlete too.
I'm a fan of his, get to see him play a lot at Wasps and in open games he looks top class with his ball carrying, but in games where it gets tight he really struggles at times. You saw it yesterday, when the game was tight and Aussies on top he was poor and disappeared in first 20-30mins, but then as we started to get on top, he was very good and got better and better.

You could say that about the whole pack Chris, they all struggled.
Pocock doesn't sound overly interested in rugby when you read interviews with him. I wonder if he'll come back after his year out, I wouldn't be overly surprised if he didn't.

Otherwise, a decent comeback by England on Saturday!
Still interesting to see what our lock combination will be going forward, as we have four second rows who could get into most international 23's.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
I thought second half comeback was excellent.
Agree Hughes went missing first half but had a decent second half. It's his first start so I would not have expected him to have sorted us out In the first half. Definitely showed promise although if on form would prefer Morgan.
Think the first half performance was worrying. Surely jones can see yarde is defensively up to it.
More worrying is the scrummaging. Cole has had a poor AI's as had mako in the scrum. You need your tight head to lock the scrum and we have been shaky throughout the AI's.
Mako has been superb scrum aside and all locks excellent.
Lots of people in the game say Lawes is a light scrummager that again may be Have been a contributing factor also.
Lots of papers have said itoje will come
In at 6 which would be harsh on robshaw.
Farrell has been superb at 12 and jJ at 13 is a combo.
Teo been good off bench as has George.
Overall think jones has been superb we have more depth and only really 14 and 3 where we could
Do with improvement

We started to dominate the scrum once Marler and George came on, same against Arg.
Personally think Mako is a poor scrummager, always has been and Hartley was unfit.

Hartley sent off.
It was poor timing. Looked
Like the guy would stay on his feet.
I am glad rugby is safer and you don't get butchered as in my day but at same time it's a physical game and accidents happen. Modern day tackle dictates higher shots but if timing off it's a red.
Haylett petty yellow last week awful. Hartley a red in today's laws but basically a mistimed hit that at local
Level happen in most
Games tomorrow

Was it bad? Haven't seen it. Saints are a team looking in serious trouble, Mallinder has got to go. Apparently they made an approach to get Pat Lam in but he picked Bristol instead. They've made so many bad signings, Picamoles aside.

Chris if you go on Facebook/ twitter there are these awful
Sites like rugby onslaught and rugby lad.
They are Irish through and through and the comments re Hartley and England are pure racism. In any other context could be viewed as hate material.
I was 40 last Sunday and I have been to the last 26
Years of Ireland vs England games
And it's only recently they have become nasty.
2 years ago when they dominated us in the rain was Cardiff aside the only time opposition fans have been nasty to
Us.
I am England first but after that want South Africa, Ireland and France to win.
Being a close to border man anyone but Wales but never in a nasty way.
Ireland have developed a nasty fan base and it's no longer the laugh it was.
We had some nastiness when Munster panned Glos in the miracle game in limerick also and it's not rugby

Conversely I generally attend Wales vs Ireland and it's the best laugh going. Both nations love each other and have a proper time.
Doing France at home and Ireland and Wales away this 6n
Despite saying would just do the France game.
Have tickets for 2nd and 3rd lions test so if anyone gets 1st test I
Will buy them.
The ballot was kind to us

Hartley wont be a great loss for England if banned. I think George has surpassed him as a player, Hartley just brings more leadership. Problem will be backup with no real standout, possibly Taylor?

Hartley is England captain though Pooly, so I think that would be a little bit of an issue. George is excellent though, but Jones constantly mentions how impressed Hartley is as a leader - I find it odd in that when playing for England he doesnt look close to losing his head, goes back into the Saints environment...can't see it being a ban of more than two weeks, as intent wasn't there to take off SOB head.
Taylor isn't there yet, he's improving a lot at Wasps but can't physically impose himself properly in games, but he's getting better in each game for us - LCD seems to have sorted out his darts, think he's there or there abouts after George - I hope Spurling comes through at Sarries, he has a lot of potential but you wonder how much not getting AP game time will affect his development.

I dont think Hartley missing would be an issue, even as captain. I think he's done a great job but isnt irreplaceable. George is certainly a better player imo

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Jones is a huge LCD fan and LCD was in superb form before injury and it was going to be a toss up over him
And George according to jones.
Nice to have a bit of depth at hooker: Hartley massive player for England and is a huge loss.
Can't underestimate value of leadership. Hartley scrums well and has great darts

No better player to watch than Fofana. Has such class and time on ball:

I love Hartley but George is a better player, agree about the leadership though.
LCD problem has always been his darts and I cant see that improving anytime too soon, George is a big step up.
Taylor probably ahead for 3rd spot currently.

LCD lineout been superb this year.
Never let England down in that respect either.
I would have George ahead of LCD currently but long term LCD is the future

LCD has had some mares throwing for England, I can only recall him having one good sub appearance tbh.
I'd have him in the same bracket as Youngs at the minute. Good club player but not quite got the set piece to step up. Still quite young though, he has time on his hands.

Great game Ulster vs Clermont.
2 great attacking 10s who can't defend makes a treat

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Haven't seen LCD have issues this season, not in the AP anyway but interesting to see him in the European games to see if the pressure mounts up at all. Remember watching his England u20s debut sitting next to his family, no idea what's happened to his brother though.
Hartley gives you a great setpiece. Then George offers so much, such a good footballing hooker and very clever player. Anyone who goes to Sarries just gets turned into a top, top player, their coaching setup is just incredible - seeing how much BV has improved compared to the coaching he got at Wasps.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Sarries coaching great they work on skills and give players time to develop.
Gloucester close to being bought by Montpelier's billionaire owner.
God knows we need it.
Apparently Jones sent about 60 players what they need to work on and then has support system in place with expert coaching and remote sessions with people all over the world.
Imagine the bill on coaching for England is staggering.
Jones seems to be focussing
