Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (Fluxy) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1994.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made by sending a PM to the RFU (Fluxy) and it will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Round Bidding
Open Bidding
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. £2m for 5 games, £1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Folau been hit and miss this year internationally.
Aussie pack been battered so expect backs to not have great season.
Genia aside don't think any Aussie back had a great season. Kurindrani had a great autumn but was poor
Most of year. Foley and Haylet petty hit and miss with great games and bad games.. The young lad with the big boot who plays all across the backline had some great moments and looks good but also had some howlers.

Folau's off form is still pretty special though, he's just not used that well. Don't think Genia has been that great tbh, bad position for Aus really.

Not sure if you added my tactics to the match thread Fluxy? Had issues posting it originally, but got them in.

Chris, you (and others) hadn't added tactics when I updated the page. Hence, why they weren't added.
To be honest, I'm not sure what the ruling is regarding adding tactics to the page after the thread has been updated.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
He Conceded 2 pens. Barrington hauled off as getting a cuffing from Cole. Hauled off Skelton also with lamisotele and Hamilton on scrum stabilised. Figallo had a pretty poor game like
A lot of sarries. George was anonymous as was burger.
Terrible game of rugby. Thought mike Williams went well for Leicester. Leicester fought well.
Skelton looked so unfit and knocked on a lot. For his size he is an awful scrummager. He gets so high that it offers nowt. He needs to lose at least 3 stone to be effective. Looked like he was going to nail
It a few years ago but seems to have lost his way.
I think JP Doyle is possibly the worst ref in the Prem. Teams always push the boundaries with him as he lets too much go.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Would be a worry if it was his groin again, but just unlucky there - Cockerill hoping it is just a few weeks, not so sure but he was playing blooming well before that.
Great to see how Bristol have turned things around, new coaching setup and those few signings have really made a difference. Saints would benefit from a change as well, seem to have got a bit stale under Mallinder.
Anyone know if Launchbury is out of the 6Nations? Heard someone mention it earlier today, with Kruis also a doubt and Mako definitely missing as well.

JJ over Henshaw for me.
Zebo would be nowhere near my squad, let alone a 15. North, Williams, Nowell all better for me.
Other than that I pretty much agree with you.
You could make cases for Mako, Hartley, George, Furlong, AWJ, Haskell (if fit).

I worry about Gatland being the coach.
I don't think his style of play will beat NZ. Whether a better calibre of players will change that I don't know.
I reckon we will have a very strong squad made up mostly of English/Irish players with a scattering of Welsh and a few Scots.

Wonder if Ford will go, not sure Sexton has been at his best for a little while but he's best no10 in NH, at same time the Ford/Farrell partnership just gets better and better.
Wales need a big 6Nations, so many Irish and English players standing out at the moment - you'd imagine AWJ, Warburton, Falateau, Biggar, Davies and North will all go - not sure who else at the moment though.

Don't think Biggar is guaranteed.
Personally don't think Warburton has done anything recently to be guaranteed.
AWJ, Faletau, Davies and North probably are nailed on. Liam Williams should be also.

I imagine they'll be a difference from what we'd like to what Gatland wants. He picks players to suit his style it seems rather than the better players.
I think we'll see big centres so Henshaw likely. If Sexton starts at 10 I can't see the point in Farrell as he doesn't bring a lot from the 12 position really. I think we'll see:
1. McGrath
2. Best
3. Cole
4. AWJ
5. Itoje
6. CJ Stander
7. Warburton
8. Vuinipola
9. Murray

7. Itoje
8. Vuinipola
9. Youngs
10. Sexton
11. May
12. ??
13. JJ
14. North
15. Hogg
I'm really not sure on 12.

Forgot Williams there Nick, yeah he should definitely go.
Wilkinson did rather well once he came over his injuries. If it was his groin again you'd worry about Tuilagi but just unlucky. Wonder if a new club would help him.

it is weird how sometimes changing club seems to magically make you stay fit. look at Jack Wilshere for Bournemouth. Arsenal could never get him fit and he never played 90 mins. has been fit all season for Bournemouth.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
The thing with Tuilagi is he gets injured so easily. He rarely lasts a few games and he's out again for 6 months plus. Such a shame as he's a huge talent, but I really don't think we'll ever see him for a prolonged period.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
38 man squad for me:
Front row - McGrath, Vunipola, Marler, George, Best, Hartley, Nel, Furlong, Sinckler as a bolter -9
Second row - J Gray, Itoje, Kruis, Henderson, AWJ - 14
Backrow - Vunipola if fit, Faletau, CJ Stander, Robshaw, Van der Flier, O'Brien, Tipuric. Moriarity if Vunipola isn't fit - 21
SH- Youngs, Murray, Laidlaw - 24
FH- Ford, Farrell, Sexton - 27
Centres - Henshaw, Joseph, Dunbar, Daly, JD2 (very very lucky), Huw Jones
Back 3 - Hogg, Halfpenny, Watson, Zebo, L Williams, Nowell
North needs to come back non-injured and with any form to get in, right now he's nowhere near the plane except on reputation
I don't think Gatland will agree
My (admittedly a tad biased in the backrow, but I genuinely think that's teh best flanker combo to go in with) 23 for NZ:
McGrath
Best (c)
Furlong
Gray
Itoje
Robshaw
VDF
Faletau (I don't expect Billy to be ready in time)
Murray
Sexton
Watson
Henshaw
Joseph
L Williams
Hogg
Bench - Vunipola, George, Nel, Henderson, Stander, Youngs, Farrell, Daly
Midweek side
Vunipola
Hartley
Nel
Kruis
Jones
SOB
Tips
Stander
Youngs
Ford
Nowell
Dunbar
Jones
Zebo
Halfpenny
Marler, George, Sinckler, Henderson, Moriarity, Laidlaw, Farrell, Daly on the bench

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Always amazed that they only take 38 on these tours, as the NZ will be brutal with all the games.
Fagerson could be another front row bolter CJ, Huw Jones is a good shout. You'd say definites for scotland would be Hogg, Nel and Jonny Gray, but people like Laidlaw in with a good shot.
Pretty certain Gatland will take Launchbury, but second row has to be the toughest one to call.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
My 38
LH - J. McGrath, M. Vunipola and J.Marler
HK - R.Best, D. Hartley and S.Baldwin.
TH - D.Cole, T.Furlong and (S.Lee or Z. Fagerson)
LK - G.Kruis, J.Gray, A. Wyn-Jones, J.Launchbury
BS - CJ Stander, I. Henderson, M.Itoje
OS - S.O'Brien, J.Hardie, J.Tipuric
N8 - B. Vunipola, J. Heaslip
SH - C.Murray, B.Youngs and G.Davies
FH - J.Sexton, O.Farrell and (D. Biggar or F. Russell)
CE - R. Henshaw, J.Joseph, J. Roberts, M.Bennett.
WG - A. Watson, G.North, S.Zebo and J.May
FB - S.Hogg, M.Brown and L.Williams
I'm worried about our back row. Robshaw will probably go but we could do with some realy form from someone in the 6N and end of season. I'm unimpressed by Faletau and wouldn't take him myself though I'm certain he goes if fit. WP Nel a tough one to leave out but I rate Lee and Fagerson highly. Russel and Biggar a close call. Wouldn't take Ford unless Gatland is playing Farrell as his first choice 12.

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Hopefully Gatland will see that the way to beat NZ is to try and attack them and move away from how Wales play - we've got the players who can play that way, likes of Hogg and Williams are brilliant attacking talents.
Could see Robshaw going, as he's been excellent of us and potential captain of the mid-week side, but CJ Stander must have no6 shirt unless that's where Itoje gets some game time for England come 6Nations.

Think Stander has been immense, but also think the bench against NZ are vital and he's the perfect bench man for it- Robshaw's workrate and all around game with physicality in the front row and at 7/8 with Stander adding raw power and class in the second half and also meaning we have genuine 8 cover too. My squad is based largely on how important I think the bench will be- guys like Daly and Henderson and Laidlaw for different reasons allow us to change how we play, cover lots of positions well and add impact too, it's s flexible squad and I'll be amazed if we win a match trying to rely on the starting XV alone, NZ will bide their time and rinse the last 20 mins like usual

Re: Season 9 Homepage
Robshaw's been pretty special this season too, he'd definitely deserve a shot - can just see Gatland wanting Falateau off the bench, but agree completely with Steve's comments on him.
CJ definitely right on impact - that's where England have got so good recently, their bench wins games - amazing how many injuries we've picked up again though.
