Re: Ryder Cup - USA Picks
Of course the task force is a joke. When you have 9C in there, a man with no interest in team events, no personality, no humour, no ability to say anything inspiring or not scripted and a Ryder Cup record to be ashamed of, you have to ask what on earth someone like that would bring to an already disparate team of failures.
America never learn. They might win this year, but it will be in spite of their laughable "task force"

Re: Ryder Cup - USA Picks
With only one rookie (Koepka) among the already qualified 8, Love3 yesterday hinted that it gave him a larger flexibility to select his picks. So, since he mentions this, who would be rookies on his radar? Thomas perhaps? Berger?
I think Fowler is safe, he kept babbling about him yesterday like he's his love child (no pun intended), and Furyk as well - although I must admit it's unclear what Furyk's role would be since he's already a VC and since Phil was appointed the undisputed on-course leader of the team.
What strikes me though, is that Love3 also keeps babbling about "me and Tiger" this and "me and Tiger" that, like Tiger is just as much a captain as he is. What insight is it really Tiger provides? He hasn't played on the Tour in ages, and when he played he only played the bigger events and never seemed to fraternize with others than his regular buddies. He didn't even bother to show up at the Majors this year, let alone the regular tournaments. What is it he does, apart from watching the Golf Channel, Skyping in at the Task Force meetings, and texting Love from his Florida mansion?
Love also seems to have a big stats team around him, analyzing player stats and course stats. Probably he heard that the European team used stat guys last time and now he's going full monty, US style. Don't really know what they look for since they can set up the course the way they like anyway (well maybe that's their role?), but I hope it'll push him into paralysis analysis and pick Bubba since Hazeltine is long. If not, then Holmes will be in, which is a far better pick than Bubba IMO.

I think America will win, but for the sake of sticking one in Love's pipe and making him smoke it, I'd "love III" him to get beaten in similar fashion again to Medinah. Would serve him right.

I also fear it. We have too many uncertainties: Rory's putting, Stensons knee, Woods health, Fitz, Sully and Willetts form. The thing is also that if things start going the wrong way there are too many thin skinned Europeans among the experienced players (Stenson, Garcia, Rory) and in that case I can't see Rose, Kaymer and Westy carry the team alone.

Seeing as most people are saying that Bubba and Rickie are not up to it at the moment, I've just gone and put some money on them to win the Deutsche Bank. Cos that's how it works in my world.

Re: Ryder Cup - USA Picks
Three RC hopefuls missed the Deutsche cut, Bubba, Justin Thomas & Hoffman.
Is it possible that Bubba might miss out?
No-one really helped himself for LoveIII except Kevin Chappell; Kaufman and Berger had nice rounds but would think they need a win to be considered. Otherwise: Kuchar in 21st, Holmes in 29th and Fowler 54th. Furyk and Stricker not certain to qualify for next week.

So what is everyone's final thinking regarding Davis's picks?

MK, JBH, BW, RF
Tho I would choose Billy Ho instead of Fowler and possibly Dufner instead of Watson.

Re: Ryder Cup - USA Picks
So the final choice will be one off:
Thomas, Moore, Chappell, Kisner, Woodland, CAstro, Na, Mcgirt, Watson, O'Hair, Berger, Dufner.
All the unselected left in the top 30, so will it be on who has the best finish, or just an excuse to put some pressure on Bubba, and select him anyway.
you can cross off - Mcgirt, Na, Castro, Chappel id say.
Long shots - Dufner, Berger, O'Hair, Woodland,
leaving either Thomas, Moore, Kisner, Bubba.
He will pick Bubba surely? I would say Moore or Thomas though.

Re: Ryder Cup - USA Picks
Can't really see who else should've been picked. Kuchar and JB seemed the obly obvious after yesterday (objectively speakng), and Fowler has probabably been a lock for months due to his Task Force involvement.

Re: Ryder Cup - USA Picks
Apparently Rickie has the record for most matches played in RC history without registering a W. Hope that continues, and the law of averages takes another two-year break.

My favorite DL3 quote:
"We've sat Tiger Woods out for the first time ever. You know, that's the captain's job is to make tough decisions. That's what I signed up for. "
