Dudley Phillips
Dudley Phillips is employed by the IRFU as a "Participation Rugby Operations Officer". He used to be part of the Leinster Branch Rugby Referees: http://www.arlb.ie/?tag=dudley-philips
This weekend he is refereeing....... Leinster.
Now, I remember being told explicitly by Sin e that this kind of thing couldn't happen.
Dudley has never refereed Leinster before.

Re: Dudley Phillips
It's not the norm that this happens and the Pro12 have made an effort to stop it happening, but I suppose needs must. I'm not in any position to question his integrity but obviously that hasn't stopped some coaches when their teams don't control the things they can control. That, to me, says more about them than the referee.
What I will say is that this has been an extremely entertaining and exciting start to the Pro12 season and it will be disappointing if the Club Rugby section is reduced to rehashing the same old unproductive and boring arguments given how much good rugby we've seen so far.

The most productive supporters can be is to recognise a weakness, publicise it and hammer it home until the 'authorities' do something about it.
Owens is reffing Connacht vs Edinburgh, by the way.
In other news, Munster get a Welsh ref's first game when they play Zebre at home.

The least productive thing that supporters can do is go on online forums and bitch about said weaknesses on a constant basis where the "authorities" won't hear or read a thing about it.

That's not quite true. But who would only do that?
The least productive thing to do would be to not mention this kind of thing.

Get your green ink out by all means, but if you're going to keep doing it please start a general complaints thread where you can consolidate it in one place as opposed to creating multiple different threads, and don't take it into other threads concerning specific games and/or clubs or provinces.

Re: Dudley Phillips
I don't see why this has happened, there's no need for it surely he could have reffed the Connacht or Ulster match. It's not a huge deal but it's unnecessary since they is a ref from Munster in Wales fro the Dragons game.Just swap them and there's no problem.

Yes agreed. Phil is absolutely right to draw out attention to this kind of ill considered nonsense from the PRO12 board.
It would be better if we all strode together on this kind of inept, bad thinking about the game. As a mark of disrespect and to show that it is not tolerated, fans should not attend this game unless the official is changed.

Well Phil, time Leinster also discovered the delights of being reffed by Deadly Dudley. Not fair that everyone but Leinster should have this 'honour.'

Dudley ruins most games - the only conspiracy here is that the league is continuing to shoot its self in the nads by keeping these mouth breathers in charge of its matches.

Fantastic thread.
I like the way the IRFU try to disguise things about Dudley - they try keeping certain things away from the public eye.
I had to go to ESPN to find out he's 38 years and 162 days.
IRFU seem to try to suppress knowledge of those 162 days. It's not good. It looks bad.

Re: Dudley Phillips
This place is a friggin joke, FFS. No wonder there is not any decent debate to be had about the Pro12 on here.
Look, I am not one for agreeing with Phil, take a look at the Merthyr and Cardiff threads, the member does my friggin swede in.
But he has brought a valid point up, just as I did about the non TMO's and the mic'd up refs. Yet the only contribution a certain fanbase on here can give to the debate is to take the p1ss.
This is a serious point. In a time when we are fighting tooth and nail to raise the profile of the Pro12, and one of the main sticking points is officiating, what is happening here is a farce, and again put's the league in a bad light, how unprofessional is this situation. There can be no blame elsewhere other than on the leagues organisers themselves, it is amateurism that would not be tolerated in any other professional league.
I suppose it is easier to bury your head in the sand, and without any intelligence, just start taking the p1ss. Only on V2.

Re: Dudley Phillips
When you come out with a bunker buster that will stop Welsh refs reffing at Welsh Regional games then I'll start worrying about Dudley.
BTW... on the decent debate thing. You're sick of the p-iss takers and I'm getting tired of the growling, knowing, sober-jawed, ultra-serious, spitting, glowering sect. If every poster here came with an emoticon for normal average mood, I think we'd all know which posters would get the pouting-frown one.
It's possible to have serious debates easily whilst also not taking life so bloody seriously that you can't relax now and then, smile and take the p-iss.
You yourself Lord said a while ago that there is more to life than sport and that all poster's should think about that. Unfortunately, you seldom take that welcome attitude to life with you into these threads. Relax. Enjoy sport more. That's the playing part AND the discussing part. Take the p-iss out of the p-iss takers, it's good for body and soul.

Hey! some people have small bladders and have to regularly take the p!ss
On Phils point its essentially rehashing his regular argument with a new twist
He has said he was told this kind of thing can never happen even though he was told before it has
So why take a liar and serial whinger seriously when he is not looking for anything constructive merely an argument to air his grievances which he sees only one solution for?

Can anybody seriously see the amateurism this shows on our league ?
Things like this would never be excepted in the Aviva or Top14.
Here we all are trying to put our league on a higher setting, but when the people in charge show this kind of shoddy workmanship, then no wonder we are lagging behind the other leagues.
Yet, it's no matter, we should just keep meandering along pretending everything is great.

Breaking rules WAS accepted in Aviva. How quickly you forget. How quickly you forget that it was never even fully admitted to - but covered up 'to help the image of the World Cup'.
Accusations of chemically performance enhanced players, sanctioned by team itself, has occurred in Top14 - and not just concerning Toulon either. You forget that too?
So exactly what wouldn't be accepted in Aviva and Top14? I think they both have a reputation of potentially accepting anything that improves the product for investors.

Why they don't care is an interesting question, but care they do not.

I was only ever challenging Sin, for Sin writes some tremendously inaccurate nonsense on this board.
It's not childish to highlight the inaccuracy of posters. It's a common theme in comprehending the value of their contribution.
